This shows what movies should be

Excellent movie with a very good social and moral message. The profit of film is used for helping cancer patients.

A tale of compassion and innocence.

Adish Praveen was excellent and the national award was well deserved. He took the whole movie in his little shoulders. I wish it had a better crew though. Joju George, Sidhartha Siva, Reina Maria(Katha's mother), and Soolapaani(Ouseppachan's grandfather) did justice to their roles. The rest of the crew were amateurish. The director should've been more careful about about what we get to see. We can't see some reactions which we should've seen. Wish it had better frames as well. The camera work is fine when it's a long shot. But goes wrong with close ups. The songs and music was real good. Kudos to Mathews Pulickan for the lovely songs. Despite those flaws, Kunju Daivam is really worth our time. It's such a sweet movie which leaves you with a smile.

    Graciously incongruent !

Whenever I watch a movie, I do so with an open mind. Even so, sometimes a particular movie will somewhat disturb us due to one or two nonsensical aspect involved in it. Everything about Kunju Daivam is great, well, almost. Adhish acted well without any kind of overly imbued pretensions and convinced us of his true intent within the story and as depicted by his acting. The other stars also did well and especially Soolapani who plays his grandfather in the movie. Adhish was able to convince us that he is a quintessential little "payyans" growing up in the Kerala environment. Joju George was himself and the other actors. The natural environment and scenery is depicted clearly and vividly to the point that we almost begin to believe that we are in the movie.

The very idea of any movie is that it asks us to suspend our beliefs for a period of time that we are watching it. Within that period of time, anything that happens in the movie is to be believed if we are to enjoy the movie. It is exactly here, that the wound that is the issue of suspension of one's beliefs, seems to get cut open again. How many of us know of a little boy who has been able to convince a grown man to give up his kidney (just because he has two of them or just because he thinks he is good for nothing or perhaps because he needs the money)! How many times have you seen a little kid ask a priest to donate his kidney? These little nagging mistakes or discordant aspects take away from an otherwise beautiful movie. Sidharth Siva was quite convincing as a Machiavellian priest. We see too many of them all over the place and in most Churches. The movie is fresh and there seems to be a bit of juxtaposition of the ethos of a woman whose husband is away from her, earning money in the Gulf and a mother who is having quite a bit of difficulty trying to find money to treat her only daughter.

One-Line Review: Kunju Daivam / Drama Encouraging Altruism / 6 Stars

Kunju Daivam (The Little God) shows how human beings can live a life of altruism even when they are overly pious but then it also shows how the society may seem indifferent when one person tries to do things differently. TN.
