Jeet is entering a new term and as Janaki heads to it, she prays that this term doesn't bring on any problems in the college. But at Jeet there is crisis - the trustees want to shut down the college because they don't think it is profitable. Rekhari, the Vice Principal, comes up with the idea that the only way they can redeem the college is with good results, and to achieve that, the passing marks should be increased from 40 per cent to 50 per cent. Vikram Mall has come back to his old college after many years as a teacher. Not much has changed in the years that have passed. The college still believes in the rigidity of rules and there is little space for new ideas or a fresh approach. On his first day, there is a fake fire alarm and the students who are responsible for it cross paths with Vikram. Vikram sets fire to their class to get them to confess. This approach of his upsets Rekhari. Other teachers too don't understand his radical methods. But Principal Venugopal has faith in Vikram. He asks Vikram to be moderate in his approach. Panic strikes for the second time in the day as the outbreak of the news of the increase in passing percentage drives a student to the verge of suicide. Rahul locks himself up in the chemistry lab, attempting suicide. Vikram gets him out of there and makes him realize that he is not worthless. Again, his approach is highly unorthodox. Vikram and Janaki have a difference of opinion about this but Vikram's charming personality and easy-going attitude confuses Janki. She is attracted to him but doesn't want to admit it to herself.
