I'm a retired cop with 35 years on the job. I get this, I really do. Why does everything have to have a point? This is so disgustingly sick and gross that I laughed the entire time I watched it and had no clue why. Yes, if you're an alcoholic, it helps to drink while you're watching. If you smoke weed, it helps to smoke while you're watching. The characters must have been released from some kind of mental facility because I doubt they attended any kind of acting school, but that's ok. It really is. In order to endure the 13 some odd minutes of each episode. You need to not only have a healthy sense of humor; but you need to have a brain disease and a budding tumor growing in your main cortex. There is no reason to criticize this. It is what it is. It's better than watching congress in session. It beats my first wedding. It's what you would see the first time you take LSD. Whoever dreamed this up deserves every award known to man. He or she is a genius. Bravo! I've actually worked with cops like this, believe it or not. Disney should look into turning this into a ride. Thank you. I'm out.
Rather than leaving a short, overly dramatic, reactionary review in all caps with five exclamation points after every sentence I'm gonna leave a reasonable (in both criticism and length) review of Jim Hosking's Tropical Cop Tales based on the first 4 episodes. Now look, if you didn't see or like the writer/director's previous works (the short film G is for Grandad and the feature debut The Greasy Strangler) then you may as well not give it a chance because this is exactly the same humor, style and visual wise. Personally if you aren't a fan of the weird stuff Adult Swim used to play ten years ago at 3am (Tim and Eric, Check it Out, Xavier: Renegade Angel, Tom Goes to the Mayor) or even some of the more recent weird stuff (The Eric Andre Show, Off The Air, Too Many Cooks, Unedited Footage of a Bear) then this is not for you. I think a good friend of mine said it best when he said that this was Adult Swim trying to get back to its weird, gross, absurd roots after getting a big mainstream hit like Rick and Morty. This is a niche show will almost no appeal to mainstream audiences which is a good thing, it provides some variety in terms of type of humor and content available on the programing block other than re-runs of Seth Macfarlane shows, Robot Chicken and Richard & Mortimer. But the bad thing about Tropical Cop Tales being a niche show is the large amount of negative feedback it gets from people who want only those re-runs on the block who then leave 2-3 sentence reviews in a reactionary fashion claiming it is the worst thing to ever air on TV. In my opinion it's a weird, wacky, gross, dumb, absurd show with good music and visuals. I find it very entertaining but it is far from perfect because it is on TV it can't go as far as The Greasy Strangler does which waters down the director's creativity. Either way I enjoy it and if you enjoy The Greasy Strangler, any of John Waters' early works or stuff like Tim and Eric then I would say give it a shot, the episodes are only 11 minutes long so it's not much time lost. So far (based on the first four episodes) I'd give Tropical Cop Tales a 6-7/10
EDIT: It is really great while drunk 7/10

I'm not sure what about this is supposed to be funny. A bunch of nonsense yelling, overacting and just general ridiculousness. It's like they tried to achieve a Tim and Eric style, maybe, but it's drowned out by all the screaming and random strings of out of place cursing. Did a 12 year old on drugs write this?
" . . . It ends up being the most vicious, menacing place on earth, not even slightly relaxing." Amend that to "not even funny" and that will sum up this co-called comedy. Everything about it is just plain pathetic - looks like it was written by ten-year-olds as a school project.

This show is not for everyone. It's irreverent, insane, repetitive, disgusting, bizarre, sometimes creepy, annoying to some, hysterical to others... I absolutely love this show!!! Whatever you hate about Tropical Cop Tales is what I love about it. It's like a parasite borrowing through your brain. There are no boundaries. The raw goofiness, awesomely crazy characters and the way they beat a bit into the ground, then continue to beat it even more. Weed helps. I really hope there's another season. I kind of feel this was a one and done deal. I've had "IT'S SPORTS DAY A HOO AND A HEY!!!" Stuck in my head for over a week now

I saw the Adult Swim previews and thought I would give it a chance. I was given a headache by a screaming fool for what sounded like forever. The story was pathetic. Worse yet they try to laugh with the handicapped, but it turns into a big joke about the handicapped instead. May God have mercy on their souls for unleashing this mental cancer on society.
People seem to forget that Adult Swim is a hot bed for psychedelic programming. It's meant to be watched high out of your mind. This show is primarily focused on its imagery, rather than primarily focusing on plot and even lines. The "acting" is a parody of movie and TV tropes, which is why it's so goofy, shot so cinematically, and consists of literal gibberish and alliteration. It's also super political, and makes fun of political situations with more goofiness.
Y'know how people say one should watch certain shows past the pilot? Well, this is a prime example of one of those shows, which is another play on tropes. The first episode is even aptly named in order to give the viewer an idea of the ridiculousness. Anyone that reviews this negatively doesn't understand what a performance piece this show is. You can't watch this without an altered perspective. I recommend watching it with your friend Lucy. It'll make sense when you do.

I like this show. The practical gore effects are hysterical. The costumes are bizarre. Pushes the boundaries of gender, reality, comedy, and good taste, to the extreme! Pure surrealism. I plan to watch every episode, and I'm not even high. Gen X approved.

I've never had someone grab my head, dig his thumbs into my eyes, and continuously scream into my face for fifteen minutes, so I can't say for sure how that would feel. Having watched an episode of "Tropical Cop Tales," however, I have a pretty good idea.
Is this show an elaborate practical joke? A social experiment? A money laundering scheme? (If so, it would explain why the show looks like its production budget wouldn't be enough to buy a Geo Prizm.) There are myriad scenarios I would accept to explain the existence of "Tropical Cop Tales," but the theory that it is an earnest attempt to mount an actual comedy series is one I reject outright. It is simply too improbable.
Adult Swim's hodgepodge of original programming is famously, perhaps deliberately, hit-and-miss. Tastes in humor are varied, and AS has never hesitated to create content aimed at the fringes. Sometimes it works brilliantly, sometimes it's a bust.
"TCT" is neither hit nor miss; it is more like a misfire so severe that it shoots the bullet backward, panicking all around and coming within inches of turning a young girl into a paraplegic. Does that sound like a hilarious scenario to you? Because it is on par with the amount of humor contained in "Tropical Cop Tales."
I am trying to make myself say something positive or encouraging about any aspect of the show whatsoever, but it would be a lie. I can't tell if the cast is horrible or if they're doing the deliberately-bad acting shtick of which AS is so fond, but it's genuinely bad to watch either way. As mentioned before, the production values are nonexistent. Like Ed Wood nonexistent. The writing... Look, if you told me the "writers' room" was in reality a group home for semi-independent adults with cognitive impairments, I would believe you. I would believe you in the face of compelling evidence to the contrary.
I can't even watch the promos. Literally 30 seconds of this show is too much. Canceling "Tropical Cop Tales" would be the decent thing for AS to do, but the only truly moral act would be to find a way it could be dis-created.

Sure there's no real plot... Sure it's like you're actually in a scary dream. But trust me... If you start watching an episode, you will not turn it off until it's over. Anyone putting it down just doesn't get it. It's that simple! :)

If you enjoy watching ugly, gross, shrieking 'actors' bellow out lines for a barely coherent plot then this is the show for you.
It's not clever, funny or even darkly humorous like "Eagleheart" or "Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell".
This show is utter dreck and an embarrassment. I thought the trailers were painful and cringeworthy but the actual program was miles worse.
Yet another flop in a series for Adult Swim.

I think my smart tv turned dumb watching this show, I would love to have heard the pitch in this show wow just wow!!!! There is not enough drugs in the known universe that would make this show enjoyable. Good God in creation please stop!!!!!!!

Worst show I've ever seen on adult swim. Watched 1 episode, I don't know how anyone would enjoy this. Trying to be Tim & Eric with all the stupid but none of the funny. Goes to show how out of style Tim & Eric has become. MTV was once hip, now this may be the death nail in Adult Swim. Everyone associate with this should be fired.

The first few episodes I saw made me say wtf so many times, but then I did a marathon and watched all 10 episodes in order, not once, but twice. After two times through, I love this show!! There are still a couple wtfs but it makes way more sense, and is just hysterical. The goofy songs/tunes get stuck in my head and make me love it more!!
Watched this and could not figure out the point at all. Apparently it was intended to be a comedy but weird unto itself is not comedy.
It seems the director assumed getting a bunch of really odd looking and misshapen people into unflattering hipster costumes and questionable makeup choices in front of a camera would automatically be funny. It's not. It just boring and stupid, which is a bit of an insult to stupid given this train wreck.

If you enjoyed "The Greasy Strangler" this is right up your alley. Sky Elobar and Michael St. Micheals make appearances as well!

Ok first I have a major bias against live action shows on Adult swim
to me it should be adult cartoons if you want to do live action stuff go to comedy central. The only live action on AS I like is your pretty face is going to hell
everything else is junk as far as Im concerned and thats being generous
So I caught this after coming home the other night late sat down started to watch it and was stunned at how outright stupid this was. So I had some more adult beverages and some adult smokes thinking ok maybe you got to be really wacked to enjoy this. Didnt help. I mean really didnt help think it made it worse
This is one of those experimental AS things that just needs to go away I would actually have enjoyed rerun of Family guy more and I hate family guy
I would love to explain what this show is about but no way I can just avoid it at all costs
This show is out there and the first time I watched it I had to make sure I didn't accidentally fall into a trippy dimension that soon enveloped my mind. It's off the wall and crazy in aspects that other shows are trying to reach. It's everyth I didn't know I needed and wanted in a show and now I find myself craving more and hoping for a season 2. Until then I'll continue to rewatch and memorize the first season. Thank you to the creators for being original and creating this masterpiece.
This might honestly be the worst show I've ever seen on adult swim and I have been watching AS since it first began..
This is the worst thing on TV. I think these people intentionally made something completely unwatchable. It's not "so bad it's good" or "better when drunk or high" it's just awful in every way. Imagine a show where they dress like the cast of Jackass but instead of doing stunts or being funny they stand around and scream nonsense at each other. Adult Swim has made some bad choices lately and I hope this show get canceled. All this time and effort could be spent making new Rick & Morty episodes instead of crap.

I thought I'd "get it" by now but I honestly don't think there is anything to get. Random for the sake of being random. I don't think I have laughed at this show, once... BAD BAD BAD!

This new and innovative Adult Swim gem is truly cutting-edge fresh and new! Is it disturbing at times? YES! Does it gross you out now-and-then? ABSOLUTELY! Does it make you laugh so hard your ribs balls and nipples hurt? OH YES!!! Adult Swim "Tropical Cop Tales" is like SOUTH PARK came to life; I need my... TROPICAL COP TALES FIX BABY!!! ADULT SWIM HAS A WINNER BIG TIME!!!
It genuinely feels like this show was made by psycho old people. Adult swim has made Isabel shows in the past but this one is just a giant mix or weird and annoying. They constantly repeat words and say random things. This show might just making fun of mental disorders that old people get.
People find a cartoon about a satanic dog hilarious but complain about this show. Could I do without the screaming cop? Yes! Other than that this show has potential and some of it is pretty funny.

This show seems to try to be edgy and non-mainstream as much as possible. I think they failed. After Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job there has been a lot of shows trying to continue that genre. Some were able to swing it. This show does not. The over silly makeup and wardrobe isn't funny even on a cringy level.
I would like to address a previous review poster. I haven't seen anyone posting in all caps.
