The character Teddy Wong, the head of the Asian gang, was no doubt a shout-out to "The Wanderers" (1979) movie's character Teddy Wong, who was the head of a gang called The Wongs (every member had the last name Wong).

Goofs
In the pub scene when the boys are standing by the pool table, partying with the girls who lured them, the song playing is "Lick It Up" by Kiss, but that song/album was released in September 1983, while this movie takes place on a day in May 1982.

Love letter to Rocky

Heartfelt 80s dramedy with the release of Rocky III at it's center. Multiple storylines are almost too much but the director makes them work. Watts and Cannavale give their usual solid performances but Frank Grillo shines. I have become very impressed with the way Grillo can make seemingly impossible acting tasks look believable and he really comes through again. Keep 'em coming Frank.
