I Am Sam Kinison (2017)

This excellent documentary takes a look at the life and career of controversial comic Sam Kinison who formed a new style of comedy and road the success to the highest of levels. We get interviews with his brother Bill, Corey Feldman, Jay Leno, Ron Jeremy, Charlie Sheen, Ted Nugent, Tommy Chong and many others as they discuss what made Kinison who he was.

Whether you're new to the man or if you know everything there is to know about Kinison, you'll certainly be entertained by this documentary that has plenty of wonderful stand-up material as well as interviews that the comedian gave throughout his short life. There's a lot of really great material here that shows what made Kinison such a dynamic force and how his life was just as loud as his energy.

Throughout the first portion of the film you get to learn about his life before fame including his time working as a preacher. From here we learn about his slow rise to fame and how drugs became a major player in his life as he was constantly doing things that would kill most people. Of course, the sad thing about Kinison's life is that it ended so soon and not how most people expected.

The interviews here are quite excellent and they certainly add a lot of entertainment tot he picture. They were also very touching when it came to them discussing the comic's death and you can tell that it still sticks with most of those who knew the man.
