The characters Harold Wallach and Wendy Wallach are based on Hugo Maisnik and Maisnik's daughter, actress Kathy Maisnik (later known as Katherine Saltzberg). The fictional sitcom that Wendy Wallach will star in alludes to the sitcom "Star of the Family (1982)," which Kathy Maisnik was to star in, but which was canceled after only 10 episodes.
