A young journalist and a young political aide become entangled in a larger-than-life political scandal as they struggle to navigate adult life. Like all their friends, Bram and Kamal are struggling to climb the ladders at their respective workplaces: Bram at a newspaper, Kamal at City Hall. When Bram learns of a scandal involving Kamal's larger-than-life boss, he seizes the moment to advance his career. Meanwhile, Kamal grapples with containing the story while maintaining his integrity.

Although The Record newspaper and its failing rookie reporter Bram are fictitious, the Toronto mayor character Rob Ford, his erratic behavior and the scandals surrounding him are entirely based on true events. In 2014, Ford pulled out of his reelection campaign so he could receive treatment for his alcohol and drug addiction. In 2016 he died from cancer at the age of 46.

Goofs
Speaking at a news conference, Rob Ford refers to a football rivalry between Toronto and nearby Hamilton, saying "I'm gonna call Mayor 'Britanni' in Hamilton..." BUT the mayor of Hamilton at that time was Bob BRATINA (not Britanni).

Crazy credits
The green bottles which the students are drinking from in Toronto City Council Chamber are the product of Toronto-based Steam Whistle Brewery.

Amateurishly Inept

It is truly breath-taking an amateurish this movie is. With the many, and pointless, use of split screens, the director seems to be seeking a postgraduate degree from film school. The script seems unable to figure out what story it is trying to tell (and tells it poorly). Ultimately it is a pity party for millennials, without giving the audience any reason to join in.
