Yuvan Shankar Raja replaced Anirudh Ravichander as the film's composer. This is the second Dhanush sequel in which another composer replaces Anirudh Ravichander who scored for the first film, the other being Velaiilla Pattadhari (2014), in which Sean Roldan was the replacement.

Alternate versions
The UK release was cut, the distributor chose to remove scenes of strong violence in order to obtain a 12A classification. An uncut 15 classification was available.

Not a "Maari" sequel!!!!!!!

It could be a good movie with another title, didn't have to bring the character "maari" here! let alone any connection with the previous movie, where is the min tone of maari?! pigeons, local gangs, rowdyness were the attracting theme of maari, trying to make him a superduper cool hero, you guys just spoiled the character. I would like this as a single movie, but as a "Maari" sequel? hell no!
