I saw this piece at a film festival in NYC and absolutely loved it. Sunita Deshpande is hilarious as both actress and writer and her work shines a light on a subject few of us are talking about. Her insight into questions of self-identity show both the comedy and the struggle that many of us face. The film has an important message wrapped in a delicious comedy crust: if you want to laugh and think at the same time, check out this film.

There is a lot to like in this little short about a young American woman trying to reconcile her modern life with her traditional culture. Kudos to the editor for maintaining such continuity that I had to double check the credits to confirm that it really was one woman playing two roles. And kudos of course to Sunita Deshpande for giving each character, and each side of the debate, a believable earnestness. Figuring out how to be true to yourself is a universal struggle for young people, and although this film is richly grounded in one culture, it's message is applicable across cultures. That's quite an accomplishment for a 10 minute short.

A seductive comedy about tradition and the American life style around anI ndian wedding. A conflict, tension and a touching end. Short, just beautiful because, against the easy humor, it remindds the aspects of a profound cultural clash.

Tradition and assimilation clash over a wedding. Both points of view are portrayed with heart and wit by the lead actress (Sunita Deshpande). Well-produced and well-directed with a story we don't see often in the mainstream.
