The Dearly Departed is the second feature film (the first being Exigence) to be written and directed by Stephen Mitchell with actors in the Washington, D.C. area from his location in Ireland using a Skype connection to be on set so as to converse with actors and crew.
The character K.T. Stevens played by Frances Mitchell was named after the actress and mother of director Stephen Mitchell's childhood friend Jeffrey Marlowe.
