Voices/microphones are very unnatural sounding.
Portions of the movie cannot be seen because of how darkly they were shot.
Acting is just so-so.
I made it about halfway through.

This was bad, shot like they thought it was Miami Vice at times, everyone was annoying from the start. Just do yourself a favor and watch the original Desperate Hours in black and white or even the remake with Mickey Rourke if you want to see what they were trying to achieve I suppose. The only other Australian movies I know are The Dish, Romper Stomper, Suburban Mayhem and the one about the couple in the rental car going the wrong way and running out of gas and getting lost in the middle of nowhere going to Ayers Rock, and the one about the riverside campers and the kidnapper/serial killer in the outback. Watch any one of those mentioned before and save your time, this was dumb and dumber.

Bad across the board. Bad script, editing, lighting (half the movie is too dark to see), acting, and jumps between scenes (current vs days before) and too many shots of watching a car drive away or of the city. There seemed to be a lot of time spent on scenes with absolutely nothing happening to fill time. Or maybe it is a ploy to distract you from the horrible scenes when the actors are speaking. The perfect crime, according to the protagonist, includes entering the home with no gloves and touching everything. No one would ever think of using fingerprints or DNA in a modern investigation. One star feels like a gift since I can not think of a single positive thing to write about the film.

-Awesome band sound track!!
-It's an image medium, most shots were so dark I didn't know what the hell I was looking at!
-Female detective's Eye lashes and makeup were over the top.

Well I liked it. The lead character played a young violent psychopath to the text book. Glib shallow charm. A great liar, disorganised and incompetent planning, impetuous, no empathy, the whole works.
The problem with most movie portrayals of psychopaths is they are the antithesis of what real psychopaths are like. Everyone thinks of Lecter of Silence of the lambs, a well read intellectual capable of merticulous planning and who enjoys the violence as the peak of experience.
Most psychopaths are lazy, hedonists who have very little fear they dont' kill for pleasure they kill to cover up crimes or to punish someone who disrespects them.
The rest of the cast apart from the female detective did not get much of a chance to do anything other than a support role, so not much to say about that.
The shooting of the film was also good. Its disorganised and fragmented cutting underlined the almost comical plan of the protagonists matching the incongruous plans of the principle character.
