Ever since Kreese joined "Cobra Kai" in the season 1 finale, "Mercy," he's acted as Johnny's personal bogeyman and aspiring corruptor -- a fitting role for the old man, whose training and torment ended up affecting Johnny's life so adversely. The two have thrown hands before, and in the final episode of "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2, titled "Eunjangdo," things seem to be going that way once more.

From the very start, this franchise has been built on unlikely romances, whether it's Ralph Macchio's scrawny new kid Daniel Larusso going after rich, popular girl Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue) in the first film or immediately leaving Ali for a summer romance during a trip to Japan with Kumiko in "The Karate Kid Part II."

Likewise, the legacy sequel TV series "Cobra Kai" has romance built into its DNA. The show —— which is the closest to a full-on live-action sports anime and is set in a world of heightened stakes where everything revolves around karate — has explored romances for both the many new kids on the block and their senseis — with Johnny Lawrence's arc from jerk to a legit good partner being a highlight of the series.

For a show that has spent years establishing the martial arts prowess of its central cast, "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2 is not kind to a number of established karate masters. Most younger characters spend their time in complex and often embarrassing Sekai Taikai tag battles that require heavy teamwork, which locks champion fighters like Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) out of chances to shine individually.

While most ordinary TV shows aren't too interested in introducing new characters into the mix at all when they reach their final season, let alone feature one who becomes a breakout best character, "Cobra Kai" is no ordinary TV show. Currently, the show's sixth and final season just bowed its second of three parts, and it's become apparent that the villainess Zara Malik is arguably the final season's best new character. A student from the Iron Dragons participating in the Sekai Taikai tournament, Zara is a mysterious girl who lets her beauty, popularity, and especially her fists do the talking for her. As "Cobra Kai" wraps up its various storylines before the final episodes drop on February 13 of next year, Zara could turn out to be a pretty dangerous and dramatic wild card.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, Sony hosted an awards screening and panel discussion for Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” at the Anthony Quinn Theater in Culver City, Calif. The Q&a included “Cobra Kai” and “Karate Kid” franchise stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, plus showrunners, writers, directors, and executive producers Hayden Schlossberg, Jon Hurwitz, and Josh Heald. The event concluded with a lively lunch reception on the Sony Pictures Lot.

The sixth and final season of “Cobra Kai” was released in three parts, each containing five episodes. Part 1 streamed on July 18, Part 2 streamed on Nov. 15, and Part 3 is scheduled for early 2025. As noted, the show sadly is not getting a seventh season, with the producers believing that six seasons is enough for the story. When the sixth season was renewed back in January 2023, Netflix announced it would be the final season. The 15-episode season was split into three parts, and we can expect the conclusion soon in 2025.

For those wondering, the final five episodes will drop on Netflix on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025. They're expected to bring the story to a major close, with producer Hayden Schlossberg offering a nice comparison to a famous movie trilogy in speaking with Entertainment Weekly.

Serendipity seems to follow Ralph Macchio — and it most recently took him to Australia.

In October, Coldplay released the song “The Karate Kid,” and it’s exactly what you think it’s about, down to the lyrics about “Daniel.” That, of course, is the name of the lead character played by Macchio in three “The Karate Kid” movies and six seasons of Netflix’s “Cobra Kai.” After Macchio heard the tune, he shared it on social media — and that’s when Coldplay concocted a plan. It’s hard to believe, but The Karate Kid franchise is over forty years old. Despite this fact, the franchise seems to be stronger than ever, with a new movie in the saga, Karate Kid: Legends, due out in 2025. But, before that, the series which kick-started the franchise’s return to the zeitgeist, Cobra Kai, is starting to wrap up its run on Netflix with a super-sized sixth season. The second part of the three-part season made its debut Friday (read our review here), as Sensei Daniel (Ralph Macchio), Johnny (William Zabka) and students of Miyagi-Do head to the Sekai Taikai in Barcelona to take on their arch-enemies, the students of Cobra Kai, and their sensei Kreese.

The final match in Sekai Takai ended with an all-out brawl that was commenced by the Udar Tigra dojo, which was eliminated when four of its students tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

An intense fight happened between all the students, senseis, and the judges of the competition. During the brawl, Kreese lost his eunjangdo which he originally intended to kill Terry Silver.

The second half of Cobra Kai‘s sixth season brought plenty of emotions, but not all of them landed well with fans. The idea of bringing Mr. Miyagi back for a cameo seemed like a great move — not just for the story, but for the fans too. However, since the actor has passed away, they had to turn to technology to make it happen.

The AI, however, didn’t hit the mark. The fake image didn’t sit well with fans, who took to social media to share their disappointment. While it seems the character’s return was carefully discussed and planned to honor the late Pat Morita’s legacy, the final result told a different story.

However, the latest episode seems to have many twists and turns in place, with a major character’s death twisting the tides for the show.
