After Thupparivaalan, Vishal is back with another good thriller movie with Irumbu Thirai, which focuses on cyber crime and data hacking. Firstly, kudos to the debut director Mithran for taking up such a script which requires a lot of background research and impeccable attention to detail. And he has executed it really well. The best part about the movie is that he hasn't compromised to any commercial aspects like duet songs and unnecessary romance portions.
Vishal has given a decent performance as the military officer whose life takes a turn suddenly. Samantha, fortunately, has a decent role on offer and she scores well there. Arjun really proves to be an effective and intelligent villain, which was almost the backbone of this script as the movie revolves mainly around him. The other supporting cast comprising of Delhi Ganesh, Robo Shankar were really good too, especially the latter with his comic dialogues which were a comic relief.
Amidst the technicalities, I personally loved the music and the BGM by Yuvan. The theme music for Arjun was quite stylish. All the scenes were portrayed very intelligently and the best explanations were quite apt too. One sort of drawback I felt in this film was the stunts. I felt that they sort of pulled down the weight a little bit when the movie was being carried forward in a very intelligent manner.
Overall, this is a movie that might been scare some of the audience with the scenes in the film and especially the way we are very vulnerable in this digital era. A very apt and relevant movie for this time and it is really informative. Must be given a shot in theatres.

This movie can be easily called as the first of its kind movie in the current Data based world, where it tries to explain the B&C class audience who are majorly middle class people about how their lives are infected due to the online platforms/tools that they use on daily basis and how those tools expose/use their data to manipulate their whole lives.
I felt that the movie could've been better, there were several flaws/loopholes that degraded the overall value of the movie. Villain/Antagonist character seemed baseless and Hero/Protagonist character seemed like an dumb/illiterate person.
Good movie with alot good information regarding cyber world. Maybe some of information inaccurate in actual world, but the main point clearly explained well. Especially how middle class persons fall for online spam messages and fake loan request documents. Great movie to watch......
Aadhar was one of the biggest blunders (or was it intentional?) of the current Indian government and there's no better subject for a techno thriller in India but surely the freedom to explore it has affected the film. The dangers of the cyber age for the common uninitiated and uncaring Indian citizens always have scope and that has been utilized here to make an engaging thriller. But being a commercial Tamil film the film can't resist but show unnecessary comedy scenes and gravity defying stupid fight sequences that never let's the film to be as good as it could've got.

Typical, blown-out-of-proportion story about how information can be stolen in the digital but the plot has too many holes and is downright silly.
Also, I do not like that the movie romanticizes and perpetuates the idea of paying a dowry and taking a loan to get married. Psychologists are not the same as a psychiatrist, the movie even got this wrong.
Gave 3/10 for the casting and acting.

Vishal acts the role of John McClane (Die Hard 4). Movie is adapted well enough for Tamil audience. Unlike in Die Hard 4, many things are explained properly in the movie.
Technology aspects:
The movie also brings in concepts that even Computer Engineers are not aware of. This is the first time I'm getting to know about the terms Darknet, Tor etc., I have just started to learn what these are.
Minuses:
Samantha was used only for one proper scene in the movie. She could have been utilized more.
Is technology boon or bane is not conveyed properly.
There is no helicopter chasing or Military jet involved in the movie (just in comparison with Die Hard 4 lol)
Movie dedicated to all those who were affected by online frauds.

An action movie that not to be missed. It is not simply because of the cast, their natural talent or their action performance but on the various messages that one single movie can provide to the audience in this digital era.
Simply put, the main synopsis is all about how vulnerable people can easily be manipulated with their own personal data with sophisticated digital technology. This one movie will make one think whether it is really safe to use a handphone which is very essential for us now! It also gives other food of thoughts like family values, love, forgiveness and to be brave to fight back against injustice not only for oneself but for everyone.
Yes, there are times where logic can be tested. For instance, will the police still allow the person who has been handcuffed to wear a high tech wrist watch? Well... Just simply lean back and watch the show. Vishal, Samantha, and Arjun will make sure that you will enjoy it!
A must watch movie for Non Computer Science Savvy people. How stupidly we are using technology and what can actually go wrong has portrayed perfectly in this one.
The unrevealed truth of the digital world is enlightened by this cyber action thriller flick Irumbu Thirai. This film is a kind of information packaged commercial entertainer. P.S.Mithran serves us a full meal of everything. There are action, emotion, comedy, and the usual commercial elements that it needs but is it really necessary for Irumbu Thirai. Well, Mithran starts well the film with a strong 10 mins introduction where he shows us the initial issue that he is going to talk about but the next 30 mins after the title card seem to drag the overall film down. He uses the time to establish the hero's arc and his personal background but it all feels like the usual commercial drama that we use to watch. Establishing a character doesn't need a flashback to explain his or her past and especially, Irumbu Thirai has the initial premise that we needed to go with it instead of adding characters and their own flashbacks. Besides the flaws, Mithran has pulled off an excellent topic through this film and presented it in an engaging and compiling way. He has delivered a warning message to the people and adds so much information that he had properly researched. The lead actor Vishal's performance seems to be fairly engaging. He is playing the typical action hero role that he used with it since his Sandakozhi days. As the female lead, we have Samantha playing a very interesting role. Unlike the typical heroines that we have seen in commercial cinema, we have Samantha playing Rathidevi, a psychiatrist who is helping Kathiravan (Vishal) in his journey. She is not there to love Kathiravan or to romance him but to wake him up. She is the source of motivation and the one that makes him realize his responsibility. Irumbu Thirai will be always remembered for one man's effortless and that's Arjun. In the past decades, Arjun has played the type of patriotic hero who fights for his country. He is known for saving India from terrorists and fighting against corruption but in Irumbu Thirai, he is a pure antagonist. He is an intelligent digital world don who has the power to do everything that he wants. In real terms, Mithran is trying to awake people from their long addiction to social media and technology with Arjun's role. The lift scene where Arjun encounters Vishal is information loaded one and a must-watch. Yuvan Shankar Raja's intense background score lifts the film perfectly. In fact, the theme music that he has done for Arjun translates well the evilness of the White Devil character. Overall, Irumbu Thirai is a very interesting film to watch.

Dialogue, screen play is very powerful and #Arjun scenes aret top notch.
#Itlrumbuthirai is the complete package of entertainment and they make sure that normal people can understand the story.

I'm not much into South Indian movies, but this is a whole different league. The story is written brilliantly written but somewhere the direction of the movie is so fast paced that you cant get a grip of things. Samantha in her supporting role was sheer brilliant although Vishal could've been better.
The movie deals with internet fraud, data handling and the darknet as well. How data is the new gold in this commercial world. Although there were some flaws in the interpretation that could've been fixed.
The movie is quite enjoyable and thought provoking at the same time. I would love to see a Hollywood remake of this
