After trying to untangle the info on this project from the Parker Marx adult short, I decided to watch it for myself. After doing so, I hope it gets some attention in its own right.
We follow Ryan (Sam Prince Rosario) as he struggles with his rapidly worsening financial situation. He confides in his close friend, Jake (Zach Eulberg), but they soon become distracted by the increasingly dangerous living situation in the home they share with friends Peter and Tanner (Jacob Fuentes Navarro, Sergio Silva). This starts to come to a head when two thugs (Max Hersey, Adrian Zeqiri) arrive, looking for answers, while Ryan is at the house alone.
This sequence is also when the film began to get my interest as being beyond another somewhat shaky enterprise we can merely admire for getting made rather than having a great deal to offer. The encounter with Ryan and the two thugs is believably tense, and draws you in to caring about what will happen to him, as well as the mystery of just who they are after and why.
The film ends on a real cliffhanger which I won't give away, but which comes across as hoping to generate enough interest to fund a feature film version of the story. If that does happen, I'd definitely be interested in finishing the tale. Until that day comes, the short is freely available to watch on director Devan Young's Youtube channel.
