'Var the Sorcerer' is a reference to E. Varelli from Dario Argento's Inferno (1980).
A demo trailer (also starring Vida Zukauskas and Sarah Swerid) was made for an Indiegogo campaign, but the campaign was abandoned in pre-production and the film was mostly funded using credit cards.
Filmed in 13 days. Three pickup days were added several months after principal photography completed since the first cut of the film was only 63 minutes long.
For a scene in the film involving a group of cannibals disemboweling and eating the character played by Alison Niven, a real raw liver was used. Director Nicholas Kleban forgot about it in his car on a particularly hot shooting day until it was needed in the evening for shooting, making many of the cast members nauseated by the smell, especially as they continually had to have it shoved in their faces and pretend to eat it.
Although this film was shot in 13 days, post-production took over a year and a half.
