I almost turned it off after 5 or so minutes. The beginning is just a brutally bad open for an unknown (to me) comic. I'm glad I stuck it out, because there were a bunch of hilarious bits. It progressively got better throughout. The side segments away from the mic were stupid, but they almost always are in these stand up specials, so it might not be worth mentioning. He has a bit of a Jim Gaffigan vibe at times (voicing the audience schtick). He has a bunch of unique observations that are worth watching for stand-up fans. I'd pay to see him at a show now.

I really enjoyed this Netflix Special. I wasn't sure what to expect going into it as I had never heard of him but I definitely want to see more of him.
He reminded me of Bill Hicks in some aspects with his attitude towards the audience and self loathing for his own depravities.
Where I wish he took a bit more of a Bill Hicks approach though was to go a bit deeper with the politics. He clearly has some funny views on the future under President Trump but I didn't feel as though he was educating me on anything whilst making me laugh.
That last part might sound a tad ridiculous, after all he is a comedian but I guess I say it because some of my favourites such as Bill Hicks and Frankie Boyle are able to mix pure filth with deep political thinking and I feel as though Rory Scovel could have entered their league if only he had the boldness to use this as a platform to make people think whilst entertaining them.
Overall though this is well worth watching and I will definitely be watching his future shows and genuinely hope he can move up a notch from pretty entertaining to doing some ground breaking comedy.

At the moment I'm discovering all kind of new stand-up comedians. Some of them were just about okay, some I didn't really like, and some are really good. Rory Scovel was new to me and to be honest the beginning of his show was not very convincing humor-wise. But I'm glad I watched the whole show as Rory clearly needs some time to warm up. The second part was way much better, sometimes even hilarious. Visual it was also much better than the average comedians, Rory playing with the audience with his clothing is a good example. The majority of his jokes are well thought of. I will definitely watch other shows of him.

A really creative comic. Great with the audience, and a wonderful sense of irony and timing. There is no cookie cutter jokes, no pandering, and an appropriate amount of pure stupidity. If you want a preview of his skills, watch "Rory Scovel Stand-Up 11/02/16 - CONAN on TBS" on YouTube. It's amazing.

This standup special is from the mind of a genius. If you follow his narrative you are in for an entertaining ride. What? I said I created an account to leave A review, not "write a DECENT review". If you are a fan of good writing, this special is a mist-see. A "mist-see", see, told you.

This is not "stand-up" its drivel, Netflix seems to have some quality control issues, I hope they sort their 'content over quality model' & start producing better shows, more isn't always better.
This currently has a 7/10 IMDb rating as of the 1st of July with 128 votes, I predict this will shortly be a lesser score, time will tell.

Rory is a Top 10 comic working right now and this special proves it. Very unique in terms of modern comedy, very fun, great energy, i love the silly voices and different characters he does from time to time.
Unusual topics and bits that you don't see from a lot of comics today. Only downside for me would be the 10 minutes on politics, i don't like comics getting involved in politics too much, even though it was an election year.
Nevertheless, Rory is a great comic and definitely worth the money, and worth seeing live.
I think other people writing bad reviews just don't get him and don't get real comedy.
Peace out.

Rory Scovel is a not very funny comic who uses repetition and screaming in place of humor. He does have some bits that may cause a tiny smile, which means he is not a total loss. However, after about twenty minutes I had had enough and turned him off. If the show became gold after that, oh well.
I have watched this 10, maybe 15 times and it's still insanely funny every dang time. I've had to pause and take a break because I'm uncontrollably laughing so hard that it's becomes a danger to my health. Rory is a goddamn genius and I everyone deserves to have this light in their life! Get into it!! This is my church and my therapy! Can't wait for the next one!
Loooooord he is annoying! I don't find him funny at all! I think it's the type of humor best suited to college stoners who fall out of their chair laughing at Family Guy.
If you, like me, find FG somewhat humorous but sometimes annoying, this isn't for you.
Good God is this awful. Rory seems to think everything he does is unique and that he is the next star of the Comedy world. Nothing could be farther from the truth. He likes to do unfunny bits and act like he is so nuanced for doing them, like he is a ground breaker and we should all worship at the church of Rory. He likes to laugh at what he thinks are his genius jokes. Glad SOMEONE was laughing, because the audience sure wasn't. That's why there is a laugh track played over the show.

"Rory Scovel Tries Stand-Up for the First Time" is a masterclass on mesmerizing your audience. Rory is super loose, honest, and has a great command/even power over the crowd.
Joke-writing is not Rory Scovel's strongest suit - he shines as a clown/comedy performer. Rory is funny, authentic, and courageous on stage. He is fairly unique in his presence and his audience work. No wonder Rory Scovel has some serious superfans!
His ideas are often interesting and novel - I appreciate him daring to share something so out-of-the-box. I did not enjoy watching this special; however, I found it educational.
