I enjoyed this film and the intriguing storyline about a main character who doesn't have a clue about who he is and where he fits into anything. One online review site said he was a hero on an epic quest, well they must watched a totally different movie. The main storyline with branching subplots was about a man trying to take part in a new and different culture which is complicated by romantic involvement, rivalry with another Alpha Male and the constant meddling of his mother in his life!
The filming was so dark that it was easy to confuse characters. Even the males could be mixed up despite very different facial hair and hair cuts, but the woman most shown in dark tents were a nightmare to keep straight! They were more shadows than people!
As our clueless friend gathers his wits and begins to ignore his meddling mother, he gets himself deeper and deeper in trouble, By the end one will find a surprise in just who are the good guys and who ultimately is the bad guy throughout the story.
This is no deep classic, but the kind of film that has men in blue blazer with ascots twirling their moustaches and crying out "Tres Magnifique" at every turn of events.
