“Violent Night” director Tommy Wirkola’s next project is shaping up. His shark thriller has now been titled “Beneath the Storm” and is set to be released theatrically Aug. 1, 2025, via Columbia Pictures.

The film, written by Wirkola, stars Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak and Djimon Hounsou and is produced by Adam McKay and Kevin Messick. Plot details remain under wraps.

Wirkola’s previous directorial credits include “Dead Snow,” “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” and “What Happened to Monday.”

Dynevor, best known for her star turn as Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix’s hit series “Bridgerton,” has also appeared in films such as “The Colour Room,” “Bank of Dave” and “Fair Play.” She received a BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination in 2024. The new documentary Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge tells the story of this remarkable woman through interviews and archival footage.

While the film highlights von Furstenberg’s many achievements, it also could’ve explored some parts of her journey in more depth. The Wrap has revealed that the channel Turner Classic Movies, which is dedicated to unaltered, unedited film broadcasts of renowned movies in the history of cinema, has revealed the list of titles and guest appearances that will be featured at this year’s festival. The festival this year will be commemorating the 30th anniversary of the network. The TCM Classic Festival will be taking place in Los Angeles on April 18-21.

The event will screen the world premiere of a brand-new restoration of the 1995 film Se7en, the dark crime thriller starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. While Martin Scorsese is celebrating his latest epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” on the awards circuit, the filmmaker is already teasing what could be his next movie, based on Shūsaku Endō’s book “A Life of Jesus.”

Scorsese revealed in a new interview with The Los Angeles Times that his next religious film will be set mostly in the present day, but, according to the paper, “Scorsese doesn’t want to be locked into a certain period, because he wants the film to feel timeless.” Plus, he envisions the film will clock in at around 80 minutes, a stark contrast to “Flower Moon’s” 206-minute runtime. Per the L.A. Times, the movie will focus on “Jesus’ core teachings in a way that explores the principles but doesn’t proselytize.”

Marisa Pavan, the Italian actress and twin sister of Pier Angeli who received an Oscar nomination for her performance as the daughter of Anna Magnani’s seamstress in the 1955 drama The Rose Tattoo, has died. She was 91.

Pavan died Wednesday in her sleep at her home in Gassin, France, near Saint-Tropez, Margaux Soumoy, who wrote Pavan’s 2021 biography, Drop the Baby; Put a Veil on the Broad!, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Pavan also portrayed the French queen Catherine de’ Medici in Diane (1956), starring Lana Turner; an Italian girl who had an affair years ago with a corporate exec (Gregory Peck) in The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit (1956); and the love interest of a former cop (Tony Curtis) investigating the murder of a priest in the film noir The Midnight Story (1957).

The original show remains a beloved sitcom, running for 11 seasons between 1993-2004 and following the character's exploits in his native Seattle. At the end of that series, the titular psychiatrist jets off to Chicago where, we learn from the revival show, he hosted a "Dr. Phil"-style talk show for many years. After his TV career ended and his marriage broke down, however, the lovably pompous doctor decided to head for Paris to write a new book. But in the first episode of the "Frasier" reboot, he stops in Boston to visit his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) and is convinced to stay, not just to take up an offer of employment at Harvard, but to reconnect with Freddy and make up for years of shaky fathering.

Kate Winslet won the BAFTA for leading actress for her role in I Am Ruth, which also won for best single drama. Bad Sisters took home the award for best drama series, as well as Anne-Marie Duff received the award for best supporting actress for her portrayal of Grace Williams in the series.

Siobhán McSweeney won the honor for best female performance in a comedy programme for Derry Girls. The show also received the award for best scripted comedy.

Paramount Pictures has renewed a first-look deal with Todd Garner’s Broken Road Productions, one the producer has had since 2018.

Garner produced the John Cena family movie Playing with Fire for Paramount Players and is currently in active development on Double Fault, starring Rebel Wilson, at the studio.

“Todd has done it all in this business and really understands how to make crowd pleasing commercial films,” Paramount Pictures’ Motion Picture Group co-presidents Daria Cercek and Michael Ireland said. “He is a great partner to have at Paramount and we can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes us.”

Garner said, “I am so happy to continue our successful relationship with Paramount. It’s been an incredible five years so far and I am grateful to Brian [Robbins], Daria and Mike for the opportunity to continue our terrific partnership.”

Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph aired at 10 p.m. Et/Pt, averaging 3.49M live + same day total viewers. According to ABC, that’s the broadcaster’s best Thursday performance in six months, since the premiere of the Hilary Swank drama Alaska Daily.

Alaska Daily managed about 3.58M viewers for its October 6 premiere. The season, which ended on March 30, averaged about 2.8M viewers. Compared to last week, the Jeremy Renner special drew about 800,000 more viewers.

Renner’s special underperformed compared to Sawyer’s previous tell-all interview with Matthew Perry in October, which drew about 4.15M viewers.

The “Avengers” actor, who got “completely crushed” and broke more than 30 bones in the New Year’s Day accident, sat down with Diane Sawyer for a tell-all chat — “Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview — A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph” — that aired on ABC Thursday.

Renner told Sawyer, “You shouldn’t be outside the vehicle when you’re operating it, you know what I mean? It’s like driving a car with one foot out of the car.
