The Jester is a hyper obscure (Less than 15 views on IMDB) independent horror movie and though it demonstrates a level of competence behind the camera the movie is still pretty awful.
It tells the story of a young fantasy writer who moves into a house in the middle of nowhere to focus on her writing. When she comes across an old book with matching talisman she unleashes the curse of the *Drumroll* Jester.
The Jester appears after all her friends have come up to visit her and as per the horror trope get picked off one by one. But what does the Jester want and can he be stopped?
For a start though the camerawork is mostly passable it all looks really cheap, likely because it was in fact really cheap.
The cast are mostly misses, the sfx are really naff and the plot though full of potential is ruined by some really baffling choices. For example our antagonist vomits blood on his victims, turns them into cupcakes and eats them.......for some reason.
I see where they were going with this but the movie is filled with so many bad choices in plot, soundtrack and casting that I'm being generous with the 3/10.
Credit where credit is due, it's not THAT bad because certain elements have saved it but make no mistake this is cringe inducing stuff in places.
The Good:
Rebecca Taylor
The Bad:
Awful sfx
Truly terrible editing
Some of the acting is really poor
Awful montage scene
Bad writing choices
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
The world needs more kinky female sadists
Naturally 300+ year old Jesters will like cupcakes......right?
