The Mario Kart series, like any good race car, just keeps on going and isn't stopping anytime soon. This entry is another that is another first-place winner in my book, it's one of my favorite games for the Switch (no surprise there) and it's my favorite entry in the series at least for now.
Not a whole lot I can say as its racing/Mario Kart business as usual, and I wouldn't have it any other way as it's all done well and with perfection. As usual you have your assortment of characters to choose from the Nintendo verse, doesn't really matter as it's really a matter of you own preference. If you want to know mainly like playing as two of my main men Mario and Link.
And there is the selection process which are in Vehicle, Wheels and Glider; my favorite selection process is in the Vehicles to use and of course you get new ones to pick the more coins as well as racing success you have. It's hard to decide which are my favorites as they are all good in their own way. I'll just say a few things I like, one which is an old style 1920's racing car which you probably seen as a game piece from the "Monopoly" board game, love driving that car probably because I always love that game piece. The two others are a silver car that looks like the Aston Martin from the Bond films. And another which looks almost like the Mach 5 from the anime "Speed Racer." which really enhances the feeling for me as whenever I play racing games, I always pretend I'm that character.
Real stars of the game in fact in any racing game are the tracks which are awesome, each of them is colorfully creative crazy fun which are all true to the spirit of the Nintendo verse and there is a big selection and assortment of them, best of all there are tracks that are still being made for download and are just waiting to be raced on, so keep them coming guys, the more the merrier.
The tracks are a beautiful mix of new to even the old fan favorite tracks envisioned and better than before. Two of my favorites are "The Excitebike" track which is a beautiful homage to that racing classic but also show a modernized Switch sequel is possible, let alone Nintendo could use another racing franchise. The "F-Zero" track another homage to one of my favorite racing game franchises, being a sci-fi fan, you can easily guess how I feel about them but also seeing this makes me wonder if we'll see that next sequel either on the Switch or a future Nintendo console.
Another star of course is the gameplay, which is fun as usual, it's both a race but also a dog fight. Really like some of the power up from some of the usual ones like the banana peels in which hard rubber tires for some strange reason are not immune toward. But some that are new like one of my favorites is the Venus Fly Trap which is very handy in short range defense and offence as it can eat up banana peels, squids before they shoot ink to obscure your visibility, and any other obstacles that can hinder your progress. But it's can also bite down on your opposing drivers which can slow them down.
Really love the multiplayer and online player function which of course is another one of the highlights of racing games, it's always fun to play against other racer gamers, see what their made of and making them eat your dust if possible, or blow them away in the battle games, all in good fun.
The eighth entry in the Mario Kart series has crossed the finish line to be another racing and in general classic, and most importantly is up to speed and still gaining.
Rating: 4 stars.
