Although Matti Onnismaa has appeared in various roles on many Finnish films, this is his first leading role in a feature film. And knowing this fact, the script was written with him in mind.
The primary photography was already finished before the producers started to look for the funding for this film.

The title of song played on the player in the 'euthanising' car, translates (somehow) as 'I love you (sua lemmin = old fashioned Finnish love term) as if I had lost my mind': + the Finnish word for 'pet' is 'lemmikki' (=perhaps possible ironic pun!)
