Yoon So Ah (Shin Se Kyung) is a pragmatic neuropsychiatrist who carries a tremendous financial burden to run her own practice. Her family has been tasked with serving Ha Baek (Nam Joo Hyuk), a reincarnated water god, for many generations, and So Ah is forced to do the same. Ha Baek starts to develop feelings for So Ah, but he has competition for her heart from Hoo Ye (Im Joo Hwan), the CEO of a resort company, who clashes with So Ah over a piece of land but then falls in love with her. Moo Ra (Krystal Jung) is a goddess from the Water Kingdom who has been living on Earth for hundreds of years. Working as an actress, Moo Ra loves Ha Baek and doesn't appreciate So Ah stealing him away from her. Meanwhile, Bi Ryum (Gong Myung) is a wind god who has always had a one-sided crush on Moo Ra despite knowing her feelings for Ha Baek. Can a relationship between a mortal female and a god have a future?

Episode 01 Water god Habaek must travel to the human world to collect god stones, but things quickly go awry when he meets struggling psychiatrist Yoon So Ah. Episode 02 So Ah feels conflicted over Habaek's "divine blessing," while Habaek refuses to accept that it may have been ineffective. Episode 03 So Ah worries about her mental health, unable to dispel the voices from her head. Habaek searches for Moo Ra, whom he keeps spotting on electronic devices. Episode 04 So Ah is left in disbelief after experiencing Habaek's powers, and Habaek is equally surprised to learn that acquiring the god stones presents an even greater challenge than he thought. Episode 05 Habaek comes up with a hypothesis for what makes his powers work. Bi Ryeom and Moo Ra meet up to figure out their next step. Episode 06 Habaek tries to sort out where the god stones could be with Moo Ra and Bi Ryeom. So Ah feels frustrated having her life in the gods' hands. Episode 07 So Ah comes face to face with death in the form of a speeding truck. Habaek makes a startling discovery. Episode 08 Habaek boldly confronts Hoo Ye upon realizing his true identity, but Moo Ra is afraid of the consequences. Episode 09 The gods finally locate Joo Dong, but he is not the same as they had remembered. Hoo Ye begins questioning and testing his abilities. Episode 10 So Ah and Habaek struggle with their feelings for each other, knowing they'll soon reside in different realms yet again. Episode 11 Hoo Ye grows more horrified with himself by the day. After arguing with So Ah, Habaek seeks to define their ambiguous relationship. Episode 12 Moo Ra tells So Ah about the last human Habaek loved, and how it ended between them. Habaek decides to return to the Realm of the Gods. Episode 13 Habaek returns to the Human Realm, but he has left something behind. Bi Ryeom's rage begins to boil over. Episode 14 The reason for Bi Ryeom's resentment is revealed. So Ah realizes that Hoo Ye is more than just an awkward CEO. Episode 15 Habaek and So Ah try to enjoy what little time they have left together. Bi Ryeom takes advantage of Moo Ra's fan gifts. Episode 16 Habaek receives information that sours his last few days with So Ah, and the bad news just keeps on coming. Can the couple manage to find a happy ending?
