As usual, there are a lot of movie references in the play - in addition to having a character called Carrie ("like the film"), there are several allusions to Vincent Price movies, with the gruesome multiple killings recalling the two Dr. Phibes films and "Theatre Of Blood" and the waxwork which begins to speak reminding us of "House Of Wax", whilst dismembered mannequins recall both Kubrick's "Killer's Kiss" and Blake Edwards's "Experiment In Terror". However, the most extended reference seems to be to a much less well-known film, 1973's "Arnold", which also has a dead man seeming to be the architect of revenge murders.

Goofs
Carrie refers to her antics on Big Brother 8 being discussed on 'BBBOTS' (Big Brother's Bit on the Side). Big Brother 8 took place in 2007 but Big Brother's Bit on the Side didn't start airing until 2011.

An absolute joy.

Private View is a fantastic episode, and a great climax to the third series. It's very much an Agatha Christie style episode, a fun version of And then there were none, one by one the guests at the bizarre party start dying in macabre circumstances.

You can tell by the calibre of guest artists how highly thought of this show is, and the fact that Sheasmith and Pemberton can attract the likes of Peter Kay, Felicity Kendall and Fiona Shaw is a credit to their intelligence, humour and writing talents.

I am a massive fan of Fiona Shaw, she's one of the finest actresses I can think of, so wonderful to see her do comedy, she was exceptional here, proving she can do humour as easily as drama.

Loved it, 9/10
