If you’re a fan of Mel Gibson’s classic action flicks, be sure to stream them before they leave Max at the end of August.
All four “Lethal Weapon” movies and “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome,” starring the late, great Tina Turner, will be leaving the streaming service. Luckily, you’ll have all month to watch them.
Watching the new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” animated movie in theaters? Max has several films featuring the radical reptilians: the live-action “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze” (1991)
and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III” (1993), as well as the animated “Tmnt” (2007).
Kaiju fans will want to check out “Godzilla” (2014), “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (2019), “King Kong” (1933) and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” (2012).
Finally, if horror is your thing, six “Hellraiser” films and “The Ring Two” make great summer scares.
Here’s everything leaving Max in August 2023

February ushers in a new slate of movies and TV shows making their way to HBO and HBO Max, from a slew of James Bond movies to the recently released Olivia Colman-led “Empire of Light” to, yes, the Puppy Bowl.
“The Terminator,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “Footloose,” “Taxi Driver” and “The Silence of the Lambs” all mark notable library offerings this month, in addition to “Superbad,” “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” and “Eighth Grade.”
Despite HBO Max pulling a number of originals from its roster over the past several months, HBO Max originals premiering on the platform this month include a Dionne Warwick documentary, an adult European animated series titled “Poor Devil” and “Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special” based on the popular animated series.

"There are no good people in there - no saints, only sinners." Lionsgate has released an official trailer for an action thriller titled Seized, the latest from B-movie action filmmaker Isaac Florentine (who also made Acts of Vengeance with Adkins). Mma action star Scott Adkins plays a former Special Forces agent whose son is kidnapped and must now wipe out three dangerous crime syndicates if he wants to see him alive again. Adkins has been starring in endless action movies recently, none of them worth watching, but he still keeps making them - he's also in Debt Collectors and Legacy of Lies this year. Seized also features Mario Van Peebles with a killer cowboy hat, Steven Elder, Karlee Perez, James P. Bennett, David Fernandez Jr., Luis Gatica, and Mauricio Mendoza. Another day, another mindless bland action movie to ignore. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Isaac Florentine's Seized, direct from...

Marvel presses the randomize button to give us some fresh hero vs. villain matches.
Marvel is at a spot right now where they’re just kind of rehashing old event stories with a new coat of paint. Considering how much money they made altering the story of Infinity Gauntlet into two feature films, I don’t know if I can blame them. In the past few years, they did new takes on Secret Wars, Civil War, and even Amalgam. Next up is dusting off Acts of Vengeance and rebranding it as Acts of Evil.
Acts of Vengeance was an event from the early '90s with a simple and incredibly fun concept: a bunch of villains got together and decided to trade targets in order to hit the heroes off-guard. Spider-Man fights Graviton, Punisher fights Dr. Doom, Thor fights Juggernaut, etc. It was mainly remembered for Spider-Man...

Say this for 2018: It can’t be any worse than 2017, right? (Spoiler: It totally can.) At least Netflix’s first batch of offerings inspires cautious optimism in the new year, with everything from the entire “Godfather” trilogy, “Marie Antoinette,” five different “Batman” films and five different “Bring It On” movies (did you even know they’d made that many?), “Midnight in Paris,” the complete “Lethal Weapon” collection, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” and “The Truman Show” coming to the streaming service in January.

Isaac Florentine is one of the stalwart direct-to-video directors of the last decade, making fluid fight films on microscopic budgets, usually with the miraculously athletic Scott Adkins in the lead. His latest film Acts of Vengeance has heightened visibility, and an honest-to-goodness theatrical release, thanks to the casting of Antonio Banderas as a slick defense attorney who takes a vow of silence before taking his revenge on his family’s killers. I spoke by phone with Florentine about the development of the project, the personal losses he sustained during its production, and his philosophy of screen fighting. If you’re one of the many, many people who bought and enjoyed Security, the Die Hard-esque actioner starring Antonio Banderas – be prepared for even greater things from Banderas’ latest action flick, Acts of Vengeance.
Why? Well this time round the direction comes from Isaac Florentine – he of Savate, Cold Harvest, Us Seals 2, Undisputed 2 and 3, Ninja, Ninja: Shadow of a Tear and Close Range fame…. Yeah, quite the action-orientated CV right? Florentine is one of those action directors whose films I, personally, will watch sight unseen, knowing that I’m in for a fantastic fight-filled time. If you aren’t versed in the ways of Florentine yet I urge you to rectify that Asap!

"I had been punishing the wrong person..." Saban Films has debuted an official trailer for an action thriller titled Acts of Vengeance (originally titled Stoic), about a lawyer who goes for revenge after his wife and daughter are killed. Yes, we've heard that exact emotional plot description 100 times before, so here's yet another vengeance movie for those who want it. Starring Antonio Banderas as Frank Valera, with a cast including Cristina Serafini as his wife, plus Karl Urban, David Sakurai, Paz Vega, Robert Forster, Lillian Blankenship, and Clint Dyer. This film is obviously all about the action, and the act of getting vengeance (hence the title) though I doubt it has much more to offer. Check it out below if you're interested.
