The male character is probably the stupidest horror movie character I've seen in a long time. He wants to go out to the middle of the woods at night and thinks a flashlight with a flashing SOS feature is gonna save him. I think his stupidity then infected his wife because of her whole " they're not dangerous they just returned your wallet" crap. At least she's really gorgeous.
I just have to laugh at the idiot reviewer here that expected a real horror documentary instead of a found footage mockumentary.
To the one reviewer who thinks there should be a crossover to hell house llc: why? The clown in that was a prop that the demons or whatever possessed. Has absolutely nothing to do with a bunch of psychopaths dressing up as clowns.
Minus one star for the stupid political black lives matter crap unnecessarily thrown in.

Its pretty funny I definitely had a good time and more than a few laughs watching it. Just so bad. So so so bad. Between the store bought rubber masks and halloween store clown costumes and I'm assuming complete lack of a script kills the horror elements. There is some nice photography the cinematographer/director of photography got some nice shots out of suboptimal circumstances but damn this movie is rough.
The movie includes torture and some strobe lights just a warning if you're not into that. So I'm someone who loves horror movies, I've already ran out. So now I'm watching a bunch off prime. So I've always thought the whole 2016 clown thing was interesting so I watched it. Now, the actors weren't good. And the filming was poor but I mean the budget was -1 so it's expected. Watching it, I didn't have a problem because I mean, I knew it was fake and just enjoyed it. Now the plot was good, it had an expected ending though, and some stupid decisions. I looked into Todd Smith after and as expected it's fake. Sooo overall it was poorly filmed, bad acting, not realistic, but I still enjoyed it and if you can get over those three things then it won't be that bad to watch. But if you're looking for something as good as the Blair Witch, you're not gonna find it here.

This was pretty bad and I'm usually a fan of found footage. The good reviews on here HAVE to be coming from people that have something to do with the movie because theres nothing good about this movie.

1 hour & 21 minutes I'll never get back. I have Coulrophobia, a fear of clowns, and this just made me laugh. Killer Klowns From Outer Space was 'scarier'. Bravo to the clown actors for for keeping their identity hidden. I'd certainly wouldn't show my face in association with this 'film'.

This is just a cheap, low budget, bad acting wanna be horror movie. Brings NOTHING new to the table, doesn't have anything worth watching and nothing to do with the real cases from 2016 creepy clown sightings. Just a couple trying to cash in on old news with lies and bad acting. PASS on this.

Nonsense dialogues, the story has no substance and the protagonists are annoying af, the most amazing part is when a clown is dancing in the middle of the road with light sticks.
If I could give this movie negative stars I would. I've seen my share of low budget horror found footage movies, but the acting here is so bad it bad me physically cringe. The main "actors" (if you can even call them this) are so annoying and bad I had to turn this swill off and turn to whiskey to comfort me. Don't waste your time or money.

This was so stupid. What was the point? If it was meant to be found footage horror, it was s ridiculous attempt. The acting is awful. The clowns are goofy and the storyline, well all of it is just crap.

Clearly it's a mock doc and lower budget but for what it is, it's definitely not bad! I've for sure seen far far worse! Looks like they took a page out of the Blair Witch book by trying to play it off like a true doc. I remember when the sightings were actually happening and they stayed true to the look of the actual clowns spotted. There hasn't been a film done on this topic, I think they did good with what they had and applaud them for their final results! Again I enjoyed it and not the worst I've seen!!!
Wish it would have come out closer to the actual sightings though!

The underground largely anticipated found footage movie "Behind the Sightings" was finally released on dvd yesterday. Usually these movies that go through production hell and are a bit rare because of it are not sought out by many other than myself lol or so it seems by the amount of immediate reviews on imdb follwing their release. However, I am pleasantly surprised to see several reviews for this film already after being out for only one day. I had high expectations for this film but I also knew what to expect. I basically had already decided I liked it before even seeing it based off its premise, horror sub genre, and its creepy movie poster that has been out for years. After viewing it last night, here are my final thoughts on the movie:
Tony Caldwell is an ambitious director as he has pushed this movie ever so slowly to its release date. It probably wouldnt have been released with out his persistence and that is respectable. You can see that many scenes were added to this film recently as a way to update it from its original filming time frame of 2016. This is shown through interviews and modern references and clothing.
As i began the film i thought to myself "oh boy, I hyped this up too much in my head" but halfway through thr movie it started to get pretty good. Its legitimately scary at times. The footage is alllllll fictional so dont be fooled but this is very apparent in the acting through out. Nothing seems truly natural but its not awful acting either. Its sub par but not the worst. The two main characters are borderline annoying to watch but they are tolerable. One thing i did not lile was how they kept repeating themselves in the first half of the film. They stated their intentions and updates multiple times, saying the same exact thing over and over. Its like ok we got it move on. Im surprised at how hollow the film was considering its awaited release and the fact the filmmakers had plenty of time to shoot a few more scenes, but didnt. Basically they had a great idea for the second half of the movie but had no idea where to go with the first. Still, the super creepy clown make up and costume of the main villain was redeeming. Though drawn out, I liked the ending and even with being a seriously seasoned horror and ff fan, i was pretty creeped out by this character.
Overall, I liked it and I will watch it again in a year or less with my girlfriend this time, who i think will equally appreciate it. Don't knock Caldwell for trying as he was the force behind making this movie happen.

So, this is a mockumentary (not documentary) even though it tries to pull off a doc feel with lame costumes and bad acting. After the era of Blair Witch, you can't get away with this stuff anymore - especially if it's a blatant ripoff. Hard pass on this - and expect the rating to plummet to a 2-star film soon.

Cleaning a public toilet would be scarier than this. Rubbish acting, rubbish plot and since I've made it to the 43min mark and giving up I can't guarantee it but I'm pretty sure it will be a rubbish ending.

We laughed our way through this realizing that the most drama involved was hoping someone would strip Todd naked and have him dance with the clowns back in the road. That...would have been a good movie.

Behind The Sightings is a mockumentary found footage horror movie. It is a lower budget indie film but is higher quality than most which makes it worth the watch. It was filmed in 2017 than for some reason didn't come out until 2021. Alot of people gave it mixed reviews because I think they were mad that they waited so long. The movie goes by quick and is entertaining. It's one of those films you want to watch with someone who is afraid of clowns.

More than anything people fear the unknown... I think the opening scenes showed not only too many clowns, but showed to early how dangerous and violent they were going to get.
It wasn't bad for a low budget found footage film. There were a couple of eerie moments and I definitely enjoyed watching it!!! As a huge horror and found footage fan I wish more than anything I had the money and equipment to shoot my own movie about the creepy clown sightings.

I can see what they were trying to get at with a kind of "The Houses October Built" vibe, but it got lost after the 1st encounter 20 minutes in. Funny in some places, but more time and a better idea of where this was going would have made this pretty good.
