As there weren't better films to choose from for a movie outing with family,I decided to try "Role Models" even after hearing negative response from the majority in my friend's circle.Fahadh Faasil joining hands with Raffi for a brainless comedy looks totally odd on paper and the result too isn't inspiring, being a strictly passable film that's saved up-to an extent by few good one-line jokes and the good rapport between the lead cast.
Predictable from the word go,Raffi's screenplay is half-baked and tries to address quiet a lot of issues, turning pointless after few minutes into the narrative. The necessary connect that the plot demanded between all such issues was missing and gave way for a heavily clichéd conclusion.
The saving grace here is low-brow counters and slapstick comic situations that manages to evoke laughs even though only in bits and parts in the narration.Sharafudheen in particular was pretty impressive and showcased good comic timing along with Vinayakan who gave good support.Fahadh Faasil's character looked like an extension of Harikrishnan from North 24 Kaatham [2013] with the talented actor trying his best to portray a character with multiple dimensions, but with partial success. The celebrated character "Ramanan" from yesteryear super-hit 'Punjabi House'[1998] reappeared in a cameo that was totally dull and avoidable.
Songs and background score by Gopi Sunder were good with the pick among the songs being the romantic duet "Theru There" rendered well by Najim Arshad and Sreya Raghav.Cinematography part was handled well by Shamdat Sainudheen.Edits by V.Saajan could have been better.
Overall,'Role Models' is a below average comedy film that's at best watchable for few comedies and good chemistry between the lead actors.

This movie is about Gautham and his friends from there collage life towards there reunion after many years but is Gautham the same person he was back from collage?
To say about the story line it made no sense as the movie just goes on there was no proper motive in this movie.it was just filled up with some talented actors. I liked the jokes it was funny here and there from time to time otherwise this movie is completely lame. Namitha has to do a lot to improve her acting skills as her role was useless in this movie. The rest of the actors did an OK job but they could not save this movie cause of its lame script. All the songs in this movie were bad with really nonsense lyrics but I liked one of them even when the lyrics did not make any sense. From the beginning till the ending this movie was really bad and a one to avoid. For the genre comedy this is an apt one because it has those jokes from time to time.
No I would not recommend anyone to watch this movie.
My Rating 0/10

Role Models is an absolute laugh riot and major credit for that goes to the support actors Sharafudheen(especially) and Vinayakan. Fahadh Faasil in the lead impresses with his dual personality and also does adorable dance moves in the superhit song Thechille Penne(the only other time I enjoyed a song like this was Appangalembadum in Ustad Hotel). Namitha Pramod as Fahadh's love is talented and effortlessly manages drama scenes. The director of the movie Raffi also makes an appearance here and is almost neck and neck with Sharafudheen and Vinayakan with his comedy. Renji Panicker also gets a neat role as a clueless father of Fahadh who's desperate to ensure that his son leads a normal life. The movie seemed to trivialise homosexuality even if the scenes shown were intended to be comical. Besides that, I felt the scenes towards the end where Fahadh attempts to woo Namitha were a bit too lengthy and could have been trimmed. Still, I felt the movie is an entertainment worth the ticket price. They say laughter is the best medicine and Role Models provides you just that.
Rolemodels first half was enjoyable and gave us an expectation that it would say something serious to us but doesn't say anything and gets lost somewhere in the second half. Like sharafuddens character asks even we also get confused whether gautham is anniyan or mayavi? Harisree ashokan returns in his iconic character ramanan and was good to watch. I don't know why fahad, vinayakan and vinay fort said yes to this film.
