The popcorn bucket wars are heating up.
After high-profile entries from Alien: Romulus and Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator II has entered the arena — or more accurately, entered with the arena.
The movie’s official social media accounts today featured a video of “The Ar-ena Popcorn Bucket,” which is lap-sized, circular Roman Colosseum perfect for holding plenty of that titular concession. The item comes equipped with an Qr code that, when scanned, conjures up a visualized gladiator battle. The promo language invites fans to “finish the popcorn, scan the code, and let the games begin.”
If you want one, you’ll likely have to head to a Cinemark theater. It’s the only domestic major chain that will have the ARena bucket — though there are a few smaller exhibitors in the mix, as well.

Close to 20 years ago, Pepsi had released an event ad titled “Roman Empire,” which featured major pop stars in music, including Beyonce, Pink, Britney Spears and Enrique Iglesias as the Emperor overseeing the female singers pump up the colosseum with a new rendition of Queen’s famous “We Will Rock You.” The soft drink marketing juggernaut is back with a new ad for the 2024 NFL season. This time, the commercial is inspired by and a promotional tie-in for the upcoming Ridley Scott epic Gladiator II.
This new campaign is titled “Make Your Gameday Epic,” and it features two football fans talking about their fantasy football teams in a bar as the Pepsi they ordered transports them to a colosseum where a gladiatorial match is about to begin. The soundtrack starts pumping to the tune of “We Will Rock You” once again as NFL players Josh Allen, Derrick Henry, Justin Jefferson...

Nearly 20 years after Pepsi debuted its “Roman Empire” ad featuring Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and Pink, the soda brand is back with a new “Gladiator II”-themed campaign titled “Make Your Gameday Epic” — and this time around, Megan Thee Stallion, Travis Kelce and more are front and center.
The new ad also features a new song from Megan.
“I’m honored to follow in the footsteps of the legends who appeared in this Gladiator campaign 20 years ago and proud to have carved my own new legacy,” Megan Thee Stallion said. “Pepsi really brought the worlds of music, sports and entertainment together in a powerful way to set off the new NFL season. It was fun putting my creative flip on such an iconic Queen song and I can’t wait for the Hotties to hear it!”

“Gladiator” changed Russell Crowe’s life. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Maximus in Ridley Scott’s Roman Empire epic and spent a few years as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. The film means a lot to him personally. So he’s having some mixed feelings about “Gladiator II,” Scott’s upcoming sequel starring Denzel Washington and Paul Mescal as Maximus’ son, Lucius.
Spoiler alert for a 24-year-old movie: Maximus dies at the end of “Gladiator.” So Crowe is not in “Gladiator II,” and he’s not involved with the production. In an interview with radio host Kyle Meredith, Crowe admitted to being “slightly uncomfortable” with the fact that they’re making another “Gladiator” film.
“Because of course, I’m dead, and I have no say in what gets done,” he explained, with a little bit of a wry smile. “A couple of things that I’ve heard,...

There is no dearth of historical documentaries on Netflix. The numbers are staggering, and it is interesting how the platform is bringing forward never-before-heard or seen stories of kings and queens from around the world. They also cover stories of other figures from the ancient world, which helps the audience receive a different perspective on the lives they led. It allows us to understand the politics of the world and the contribution of a respective figure in world history. It could be a cultural or political impact that survived all this time for historians to speak about and educate people about. History cannot be restricted to school textbooks anymore. It is interesting that this subject is being presented through Ott platforms in a way that is very different from classroom lessons.

American Horror Stories, a streaming series spin-off from FX’s long-running horror anthology series American Horror Story, began with a seven episode first season in 2021, and an eight episode second season followed in 2022. For the upcoming third season, the episode count has been shortened to just four – and all four episodes of American Horror Stories season 3 are set to drop on the Hulu streaming service on October 26th! With that date just three weeks away, a teaser trailer has arrived online to give a quick preview of the Halloween (or “Huluween”) event. You can watch it in the embed above.
Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck, the same duo that’s responsible for American Horror Story, this series is a weekly hourlong anthology that features a different horror story, some of which call back to the original series, in each contained episode. Driven by a TikTok trend in September, the Roman Empire became a popular topic online, especially fueled by a trend that emerged on TikTok in early September. The trend consists of women asking their boyfriends and husbands how frequently they think about the Roman Empire and being surprised by the answer.
The TikTok trend primarily suggests a male inclination towards the Roman Empire. Looking at the audience demographic breakdown of popular shows in the genre, we can see that their audiences are mostly made up of men, but not overwhelmingly. Beside Starz’s “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” and UK’s “Britannia,” shows that men made up almost two-thirds of the audience, the other shows on our list below have a balanced gender breakdown. In the case of Netflix’s docudrama “Roman Empire,” the audience is even slightly female-skewed.

Lisa Rinna is best known for playing the characters of Billie Reed on Days of Our Lives and Taylor McBride on Melrose Place… or at least she was, until she was featured on eight seasons of the reality series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. That may be what most viewers recognize her from these days. But Rinna recently left that Real Housewives show, and now Deadline reports that she has signed on to appear in an episode of the Hulu horror anthology series American Horror Stories.
The episode Rinna will be in is titled Tapeworm, and most of the filming of that episode was already completed before Deadline confirmed her involvement. That’s the only information that’s available at this time.

Exclusive: Jessica Green (The Outpost) is the latest addition to the cast of Ben Affleck’s Nike drama for Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures, in which Affleck will star opposite his Good Will Hunting collaborator Matt Damon.
The untitled sports marketing pic has Damon playing maverick sneaker salesman and former Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro, with Affleck as Nike co-founder Phil Knight, in a story about Nike’s long-shot effort to sign Michael Jordan to its shoe company in the mid-’80s. It was an endorsement that seemed impossible at the time, but would become the most significant relationship between an athletic brand and an athlete ever, and launched the global, multibillion-dollar contemporary sneaker industry. Netflix is famously tight-lipped when it comes to revealing how many people are tuning in to its endless supply of movies and TV series, though the streaming giant does occasionally toot its own horn when one of its titles does especially well. Now the company is experimenting with a weekly list of its most-watched offerings in the UK, with nature docuseries “Our Planet” topping the first edition.
In a Twitter thread, the company announced that it will be releasing such lists on a weekly basis from here on out. To compile them, “we look at the most-watched individual season of a show, film or special (regardless of when it launched). ‘Watched’ means members finished at least 70% of one episode.”
“It’s a test as we want to make sure this information is useful for you,” Netflix added. “So we may tweak it in the weeks ahead. eg. we’re not including kids right now.
