At the beginning of the film, they increase the power to their experiment to 150 petawatts, eventually reaching 350 petawatts, this is a ridiculously high amount. In 2012 the worldwide energy production was roughly 21 petawatt hours. To put this into perspective, the entire worldwide energy supply in 2012 would be able to power their experiment for around 1 second.
The cityscape in the opening sequence of the movie is the city of Perth. The tall BHP building towering along with other mining giants on the horizon, with Swan river in foreground.
