Despite its somewhat wordy title, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is generating a great deal of excitement among action fans. The first trailer impressed and, following her memorable role in No Time to Die, this feels like the perfect project to cement Ana de Armas as a badass lead.
Underworld and Total Recall helmer Len Wiseman being tapped to direct raised eyebrows from the start given his hit-and-miss track record. Now, a new report from The Wrap (via ActioNewz.com) suggests he struggled to deliver on the John Wick franchise's promise of top-notch fight scenes.
The trade reveals that John Wick franchise helmer Chad Stahelski was enlisted to reshoot the majority of Ballerina (explaining its release date delay). The filmmaker came on board to improve the action and, as a result, additional photography was extensive.
There's even chatter on social media that Stahelski could have a "Directed by" credit if he wanted.

While much attention in the box office world has been on the catastrophic launch of Warner’s “Joker: Folie a Deux,” another new release this past weekend, “White Bird,” has deepened a two-month slump in theaters for distributor Lionsgate.
Beginning with the Eli Roth’s panned video game adaptation “Borderlands” in early August, the last six films from Lionsgate released in over 1,000 theaters each have grossed less than $50 million in the U.S. and Canada and have largely been critical busts. The other films include the actioner “The Killer’s Game” starring Dave Bautista, the horror title “Never Let Go” starring Halle Berry, the long-gestating remake of “The Crow” starring Bill Skarsgård and Francis Ford Coppola’s critically polarizing and audience alienating “Megalopolis.”
Lionsgate’s “White Bird,” a sequel to the inspirational film “Wonder” that hit $315 million worldwide for Lionsgate in 2017, opened last weekend in 1,018 theaters and grossed just $1.58 million. By comparison,...

Halle Berry is one of the biggest movie stars of all time. That is a fact. American Animals director Bart Layton is assembling a new Hollywood dream team as Halle Berry joins Chris Hemsworth for the filmmaker’s upcoming thriller Crime 101. Berry, also known as the Master of Dog Fu (watch John Wick 3 – Parabellum), is fresh off her buddy comedy with Mark Wahlberg, The Union, while her latest horror film, Never Let Go, is lighting up silver screens this month. The Amazon MGM Studios project takes inspiration from Don Winslow‘s short story Crime 101, with Layton planning to release the film in theaters next year.
While plot details remain mysterious, Deadline says Crime 101 contains Heat-like elements. According to the synopsis for Winslow’s novella, the story focuses on a string of high-level jewel heists up and down the Pacific Coast Highway. The crimes have gone unsolved for years, mainly because the perpetrator has lived by a strict code he calls “Crime 101”. Police...

Lionsgate has provided the first look at its new movie “Ballerina,” a spinoff of the popular John Wick franchise. The film stars acclaimed actress Ana de Armas as Eve Maccaro, a ballerina seeking revenge for her father’s death.
“Ballerina” takes place between 2019’s “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and the upcoming fourth installment in 2023. In the movie, Eve Maccaro trains as a ballerina but then becomes an assassin after her father is killed. Like in “Chapter 3,” the film will feature the assassin group called the Ruska Roma, of which ballerinas are members.
While some fans were initially confused, Eve Maccaro is an original character created for “Ballerina” and not seen before in the John Wick movies. However, the film expands upon aspects from “Chapter 3” including the Ruska Roma. The trailer also hints John Wick himself, played by Keanu Reeves, and other familiar faces like Winston and Charon, may appear...

The official trailer for Ballerina declares that vengeance has a new face…and that face belongs to Ana de Armas. But that doesn’t mean that this John Wick spinoff doesn’t also have an old face in it, as the trailer includes a snippet of the Baba Yaga himself, Keanu Reeves.
In addition to Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves, the cast of the new addition to the John Wick franchise includes Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, and Ian McShane. Len Wiseman directs from a screenplay by Shay Hatten (John Wick 3 & 4).
John Wick director Chad Stahelski serves as a producer along with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina, or John Wick: Ballerina. Most people will probably just call it Ballerina, but risk-averse Hollywood really really wants you to know it’s connected to a thing you’re already familiar with. In John Wick 3: Parabellum, there’s a scene where Wick meets Eve Macarro, a professional ballerina dancer who’s training to become an assassin like him. While a cameo from Keanu Reeves will be in the movie, along with appearances from other John Wick characters, Ballerina is all Eve’s story. You’ll find out her motive (revenge for the death of her father) and how she plans to do it (track down the criminal with a specific tattoo). The original appearance of Eve was played by someone different, but Ana de Armas (Knives Out) will assume the role in Eve’s first feature.

After sharing a tease yesterday, Lionsgate has shared the first official trailer for their upcoming John Wick spinoff Ballerina, which stars Academy Award-nominee Ana de Armas in the lead role as a young assassin named Eve Macarro, who, after a tragedy, begins training in the ways of the Ruska Roma and plots her vengeance against those that wronged her family.
The film's official synopsis reads, "Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma."
While the trailer does give us plenty of footage of the fan-favorite Cuban actress kicking all kinds of ass across the world, it wraps up with the most epic of cameos as the one-and-only Keanu Reeves reprises his iconic role as John Wick, a.k.a. Baba Yaga, and it looks like he'll...

The trailer for "Ballerina" is finally here! Oh, sorry, my mistake. The movie isn't actually called "Ballerina." It's called "From the World of John Wick: Ballerina," and before we go any further, let me just say that title stinks. Yeesh! Okay, now that that's out of the way, we're going to be calling the movie just "Ballerina." The new film is set in the John Wick universe, and introduces Ana de Armas as yet another highly-skilled assassin in a world full of highly-skilled assassins. But that's not all — Keanu Reeves' John Wick pops up in the trailer, too! Now, Reeves' presence might lead to some confusion, since the end of the incredible "John Wick: Chapter 4" really made it seem like our boy John was dead.
So how is John Wick back in this trailer? Has he been raised from the dead? Nope! As you might've guessed for yourself by now,...

The trailer for the long-awaited "John Wick" spin-off film "Ballerina" is finally here. Following a teaser clip that used a music box version of Beethoven's "Für Elise," the full trailer has provided a glimpse at what looks like a promising return to the Wick-verse.
"Live Free or Die Hard" director Len Wiseman is helming this latest off-shoot, which, frankly, has a lot riding on its shoulders. For a time, it seemed as though Hollywood could learn a few lessons about how to build a cinematic universe from the "John Wick" saga. But after the lifeless, pointless spin-off seres "The Continental," it started to look as though the impressive world-building of the movies could only really work in service of Keanu Reeves' relentless hit-man. What's more, the studio behind the films, Lionsgate, is coming off a string of box office duds that have put the company in serious jeopardy.

We’ve been waiting for Ana de Armas to get a proper action movie ever since she was one of the standout Bond women in “No Time to Die.” Now she’s joining another iconic action franchise: the “John Wick” universe.
“Ballerina,” a spinoff movie within the “John Wick” franchise, has finally landed a trailer from Lionsgate. The long-awaited project originated as an original story by screenwriter Shay Hatten back in 2017; the script was re-written to bring it into the “Wick” universe of assassins. The titular ballerina killer was briefly introduced in “John Wick 3: Parabellum.”
Unlike Peacock’s “Wick” prequel series “The Continental,” “Ballerina” is set in between the events of the third and fourth “John Wick” movies and even features brief appearances from both Keanu Reeves and the late Lance Reddick. As Lionsgate film group president Adam Fogelson previously confirmed, the film avoids the fate of John Wick...

Halle Berry is hoping to get her own 'John Wick' spin-off movie. The 58-year-old actress starred opposite Keanu Reeves, 60, in 2019's 'John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum' as former assassin Sofia Al-Azwar, and has now revealed she has spoken to Lionsgate Films about continuing her character's story in a future blockbuster. When The Hollywood Reporter asked Berry if she had hoped to have returned in 'John Wick: Chapter 4', she said: "Yeah, I wish that would’ve happened, but that’s not the route they went [in 'Chapter 4']. "I thought that would’ve been a cool storyline. We talked about it, that’s for sure. We seeded it in 'John Wick: Chapter 3', and we’ve talked about a spinoff with Lionsgate that could potentially happen."While the actress insisted a possible Sofia Al-Azwar film was still in the pitching phase, the 'Catwoman' star emphasised...

To announce tomorrow's trailer launch, Lionsgate has shared the first teaser for Ballerina, their upcoming John Wick spinoff that will star Academy Award-nominee Ana de Armas in the leading role as a young assassin named Eve Macarro, who is training in the ways of the Ruska Roma, a group that was first introduced in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.
The film's official synopsis reveals the new film's place in the larger John Wick universe and how Keanu Reeves' Baba Yaga, who has been confirmed to appear, may factor into the film's proceedings. It reads, "Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma."

Could Halle Berry take center stage in a John Wick spinoff? Berry played Sofia Al-Azwar in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Sofia is the manager of the Casablanca Continental who assists Wick when he’s labeled excommunicado. Although Sofia said that doing so could put her daughter in danger, we never find out what happened. While speaking with THR, Berry said she thought John Wick: Chapter 4 would pick up that thread, but it didn’t. The actress added that there have been talks of a Sofia spinoff, but if it’s going to happen, it should be sooner rather than later.

[This story does not contain major spoilers for Never Let Go.]
When Oscar winner Halle Berry received the script for Never Let Go, she immediately likened it to the time she read the then-unproduced screenplay for A Quiet Place. The latter involves a farm-based family that lives in total silence following the invasion of bloodthirsty alien monsters with hypersensitive hearing, and Berry and director Alexandre Aja’s survival horror-thriller is about a single mother and her two fraternal twin sons who can’t leave their rural Tennessee cabin without being tethered by a limited amount of evil-obstructing rope. Berry was so taken by this high concept that she insisted on producing the pic alongside her production partner (and former agent) Holly Jeter at HalleHolly.
The aforementioned rope, which is regarded as a “lifeline,” is meant to protect Berry’s “Momma” and her 10-year-old sons, Nolan (Percy Daggs IV) and Samuel (Anthony B. Jenkins), from the touch of an...

There are three generally accepted rules for living a long and happy life. 1) You don’t spit into the wind. That’s really just common sense. 2) You don’t tug on Superman’s cape. 3) By God, if you really want to live a long life, you 100%, not under any circumstances, for any reason, F*ck with John Wick’s dog. We have all learned nothing good happens from making John Wick angry. While we’ve already had one spin-off of the successful franchise, the upcoming film Ballerina promises to take us even further into the crazy underworld of one of the most fascinating franchises to emerge in a long time.
Where Did Ballerina Come From?
This film began life way back in 2017 as a stand-alone film. Shay Hatten wrote an action script with a female lead called Ballerina. The lead would be a ballerina assassin who goes on a revenge killing spree.

Paramount Pictures has done quite well with Hasbro’s flagship Transformers toy line, to the tune of $5.3 billion worldwide, mostly thanks to the five movies directed by Michael Bay. Now, they’re returning to the animated realm that kicked the whole thing off in the ’80s with “Transformers One,” a prequel movie that explores the origins of the Autobots and Decepticons with Oscar-winning filmmaker Josh Cooley (“Toy Story 4”).
For this one, the filmmakers have put together a really impressive voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Jon Hamm, Keegan-Michael Key and Laurence Fishburne. Halle Berry is one of the biggest movie stars of all time. That is a fact. Sure, she’s played Catwoman in that abomination of a movie, but her career includes major credits such as Monster’s Ball (2001), the role of Storm in four installments of the X-Men film series (2000–2014), the henchwoman of a robber in the thriller Swordfish (2001), and Bond girl Jinx in Die Another Day (2002). She also has significant roles in Perfect Stranger (2007), Cloud Atlas (2012), and The Call (2013), as well as Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019).
Her role in Monster’s Ball earned her an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role, which is when she became the (so far) only African-American woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress, and the first woman of color.
In a recent big interview for Marie Claire, the actress, among other things, discussed her career in...

Say what you will about big movies bypassing the theatrical experience, but this week's most-watched Netflix titles make one thing clear: star power still matters, even on streaming. Case in point: "The Union," a new Netflix Original movie starring Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg that's been climbing the viewership charts since its release last week, according to streaming chart data site FlixPatrol.
Action rom-com "The Union" is currently beating away the rest of the competition on Netflix's top 10 most-watched list, which as of publication time is mostly made up of family films like "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," "Migration," and "Trolls Band Together." Kids who demand a dozen rewatches of their animated favorites clearly have nothing on grown-ups who have been itching to see Berry back in action for the first time in a few years, though.

From playing a super-powered mutant to an Mma fighter, Halle Berry has had her fair share of on-the-job accidents over the years.
The Academy Award winner recently compared battle scars with her The Union co-star Mark Wahlberg as they discussed their dangerous experiences with stunt performances on their many action movies.
“I’ve been knocked out three times, got an arm broken, broke ribs twice — two ribs one time, three ribs another time — broke a tail bone, broke two toes and a finger. This finger,” said Berry in the Netflix clip with a laugh while holding up her middle finger.
One such injury happened on the set of 2003’s Gothika, when Berry broke a bone in her right forearm, delaying the shoot by several weeks. Three of her broken ribs came from John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum (2019) and the other two came from her 2020 Mma drama Bruised, which also marked her directorial debut.

A Hulu drama series featuring Kim Kardashian has lined up some A-list talent to star opposite the reality TV mogul.

Keanu Reeves is one of the most beloved actors working in Hollywood right now. Contrary to the ‘Golden Retriever energy’ he has off-screen, he is a badass on screen, especially when he stars in the John Wick franchise. The actor reportedly trained extensively for the action-heavy role, including killing it at martial arts and tactical training.
Reeves’ tactical training video recently went viral, where he can be seen hitting targets with precision and proper technique. His intense commitment got the endorsement of his John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum co-star Halle Berry too, who agreed that Reeves was not just acting as Wick in the films. Updated: Warner Bros’ Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was greeted with a very warm reception during its Cannes Film Festival world premiere in an early showcase last week, and amid much love for franchise architect George Miller. It has followed up with strong critical and social scores. Nevertheless, in this currently wonky theatrical landscape, the prequel underperformed in its global opening this launch weekend, grossing $58.9M from 76 total markets through Sunday.

Important to recall that while we think of 2015’s rock-and-roll...
