Its basic purpose - a hommage to Martin Luther at the 500 years after the 95 points was hanged on the door of Wittenberg cathedral. its virtue - realistic, very simple, off course, portrait of the evolution of Reform, a not bad portrait of Martin Luther and Thomas Muntzer. the sins - maybe, the status of film "as usum Delphini", a work of popularisation, nice, usefull but too reduced at the sketch form. sure, image of intense fight and victory. but, after its end, something remains not enough and only the context saves it from a bitter critic.
short, a film on the border. good performances, good atmosphere, decent script. but , for each Christian - not only Protestant-, the story is more complex. and more seductive.
