As is my wont, I'm reviewing this against other Asian dramas.
It is a nice story about a young nerdy couple in college and their romance. It ties in computer gaming relationships with real-life relationships and that did make it more interesting until that drops by the wayside later in the series. Later in the series the programming company started by the main male character becomes more central to the story.
The male protagonist, Xiao Nai (Yang Yang), is an almost perfect character with few flaws. The top-rated character in a game, the best programmer, the top intramural basketball player, the top intramural swimmer and the most handsome guy on campus. It is a lot, especially when I realized he is autistic. I'm kidding a little bit here, but not much. Xiao Nai walks past other people without looking at them, even when they clearly want to talk to him. He often then stops and talks to them without looking at them. In Asian dramas this is somewhat common in the cold, arrogant, rich male and I think I'm going to have to start labeling them all, autistic. Xaio Nai is so perfect that female students treat him as a rock star.
He and Bei Wei Wei (Shuang Zheng) do get along well for an Asian drama, with few misunderstandings that are easily corrected with direct communication. Wei Wei is among the top ten players in the game, a good programmer, tallish, thin and attractive.
It is a little too stereotypical in that Xiao Nai takes control of the relationship and while Wei Wei may balk at times, she doesn't resist very long. There is more kissy face than I expect in Asian dramas, but my wife liked it. Wei Wei's contributions to work are limited to traditional female inputs such as ordering meals, and suggesting/arranging sleeping cots (but, she is only an intern as she is two years behind Xiao Nai in school).
Er Xi (Xiaotong Mao) is a fun character and provides some comic relief, as does Xiao Nai's college roommates and programming buddies.
Several of the characters that initially present themselves as bad, for conflict's sake, are allowed to grow and change, which was nice.
Overall better than average and fun to watch. Just put aside disbelief at how good Xiao Nai is at so many things (I didn't even mention them all). The main thing I liked about this drama is the two main characters actually trust each other rather than assuming the worst, which is a common conflict in Asian dramas.

I loved this drama, I usually don't go for Chinese dramas this was my first one and i really really loved it and i finally know that if the story is good and the cast is good i can watch a drama no matter how long it, I am really happy that i gave this drama a try and i will never regret it. I watched it till end but their chemistry still left me wanting for more.

The sweetest online love story I have ever watched, there was no unnecessary misunderstandings or back and forth in main characters' relationship. So no torture for me as a perfectionist. So sweet!
It may seem like a regular movie until you listen and see aspects of Chinese culture, morals, pride through subliminal messages interspersed throughout the film. It's an idealistic romance on the front but the impact of values you can only lock if you study the dialog more. Good job.
What I say about this if not a fairy tale? My heart skipped in episode 10 when they finally meet up and he was showing off his gf to everyone! That's the sweetest thing ever. Loved how in the last scene they went back to the place they find met unknowingly. Watching her silently in the library.. Alws having her back no matter what..
But I found the kissing scenes very weird cz the actress was so frigid. It's okay that she didn't kiss back that much but she didn't seem she was too into the kiss! Poor Yang Yang! Made the scenes so perfect by himself. Kissing scene BTS are so hilarious. U should check it out too!

I've watched a few Chinese .dramas, but for me this is the least favourite. Too long to keep me interested. Couldn't empathise with main characters, especially the male lead, if there's one thing I find unattractive is the cold arrogant type with, this is only my own opinion because of the vibes, but didn't have that much humour, unlike his male counterparts. Sorry, but I found this a real turn off. Attractive actors/actresses and well acted. The story going along with the game and participants is not novel to have kept my interest going. Thought Meteor Garden and the Snail Who Fell in Love were much more entertaining.

This drama very good because
Unnecessary intrigues that annoy people are not found in this series
i love it. and the episodes are not boring on the contrary fun
Original story which allows for a perfect mix of some costume scenes. The scenes are light but sometimes cringy. The romance is written really well, characters are a little too perfect but that's classic Chinese drama. The biggest downfall has to be the horrible casting. There is no chemistry between the leads and the female lead has a range of a handful of emotions. I recommend you watch the movie first to get a better appreciation of the story like I did, had to finish all 30 epis because of that.

No wonder this drama is usually included in best Chinese drama lists. It's extremely captivating and titillating. The story centers around a pair of gorgeous Computing students in Qing University who bond through the online game A Chinese Ghost Story. The romance between university heartthrob Xiao Nai (Yang Yang) and department belle Bei Wei Wei (Zheng Shuang) is sweet and heart-fluttering.
The pace is much better than many cdramas. The presentation of the online game is impressive, making me interested in playing it myself. The relationship between two individuals who, with their high IQ and EQ, can resolve issues quickly and peacefully, is the type I like - mature, with minimal misunderstanding.

A feel good, light hearted series. If you are looking for a fun, cute and happy series, watch this. The protagonist is too perfect but I enjoy the show so much that I'm ok with that. The premise of the story has an interesting mixed of the gaming world tying it to the players real world love triangles and the challenges of a start up company versus big corporations. The comedy of the supporting roles and the romance between the lead roles made this series a fun watch.

This is a must watch! The story is centered around an online video game where our two leads meet. Of course, like any drama there is always a twist and this drama definitely brings plenty of it. The male character is very much your typical male, strong, assertive, skilled and your female is the same. They both have many common interest and I really liked how the obstacles they had to over come helped them develop their relationships. Of course, since this is a drama there are plenty of antagonist, however what drama wouldn't have some. Their supporting characters bring plenty to the story and help and support both leads. I really recommend you watch this drama; you will love it!
You see people are writing about the lead actress being skinny that was because she was very sick. She would shoot then get treatment. She was a real trooper. So before you shot your shoot get to know. It was fun and nice. A must see. It went there , where and everywhere. See it ,play it ,love it and live it. It's gets to the heart if gaming while showing you that gaming isn't everything.
It takes you to a time where you were young and you just wanted to game. It also takes you to a time where you wanted to get your act together Love, betrayal, sneaky and fun. See the show and that is all It was very good.

I've seen it more than once, alone and with my teenage daughter (I wanted her to see a heathy slow burn build up relationship)
What I like about the show:
What I do mot like:
All and all I recommend it.
Also saw the movie, plot is similar only focused on about first half of the show. Prefer the series but the kiss scene in the movie y WAY better.
What I like about the show:
- no drama
- healthy relationship
- the couple trust each other and grow together solving challenges in the relationships.
- shy characters that can communicate and express themselves.
- the use of online gaming as to relate to each other and show your true self
What I do mot like:
- plot a little naive and exaggerated some time
- some characters are a little annoying (just skip those parts)
- female character some times not up to the role.
- maybe too politically correct?
All and all I recommend it.

Gamers don't need a dating website because they can make good matches while gaming🎧. Our protags are fans of the RPG (role playing game) Chinese Ghost Story. FL, Wei Wei even has an in-game spouse - until she gets dumped. She won't be in the dumps for long, though: Her white knight is in the wings. Computers don't just facilitate hook-ups; they make identity theft pretty easy, too. While Er Xi may not have stolen Wei Wei's 🆔, she did borrow Wei Wei's CGS game character, which leads Wei Wei's crush to pursue Er Xi in the game, thinking he's hanging out virtually with Wei Wei. It also leads men at Er Xi's summer internship to believe that she's the top female CGS player. Er Xi, unawares, is getting all kinds of attention in the name of Bei Wei Wei, and Bei Wei Wei wouldn't have it any other way-way-way.
L020 is a 2016 release that is rated 8.3 on MDL. It is 1 season consisting of 30 45-minute episodes. It's obvious that the show was a precursor to the King's Avatar which also stars Yang Yang. (KA is great, but it contains no romance. It's about a RPG competition). Our FL, Bei Wei Wei, is jilted by her in-game husband in ep1. Many players suspect that she's not really a girl because she refuses to post photos online, and no other chick has come close to her top-tier ranking. Because of laptop problems she ends up having to complete a duel at an internet cafe where our ML, Xiao Nai, (the top-ranked player) gets a l👀k at her in the middle of her spectacular gameplay. He knows who she is now, but she didn't look back at him to see him looking back at her, as it says on Mr. Girlie's shirt. She don't look like no dude! She's😍gorgeous. When Bei Wei Wei's game character shows up to her ex's new in-game wedding, our ML is there as well. He proposes marriage to her. It's just a gaming marriage, but for her it's Cinderella✨time.
Xiao Nai, or Yi Xiao Nai He, as he's known in the game (Yang Yang), is a student of legendary popularity. He's the best looking, he's the smartest, and he's even good at 🏀. But he's as cold as a snow leopard's claws in January. He and his roommates/his bros have designed a new game and are preparing to launch it soon. Zheng Shuang plays FL, Bei Wei Wei / Lu Wei Wei Wei. She's a computer major and she's also the Belle of the Computer department. Between school, tutoring, and gaming, she has no time for love. Being pretty attracts jealous attention from other women, especially a couple of the mean girls on campus. Wei Wei and her dorm-mates apply for an internship at one of the big software companies that wants to buy Xiao Nai's game. Her identity, in part, gets switched with her perky and adorable roomie, Zhao Er Xi (Mao Xiao Tong) because Er Xi panicked in her interview and gave them Wei Wei's game 🆔 as her own. This leads to identity mix-ups. Several people believe they've met the gamer Lu Wei Wei IRL, but they've actually met Er Xi.
Wei Wei's new game marriage is wonderful💖. She starts to wonder about who the person is behind her game husband's character, Nai He. Should she meet him? In the meantime, back at school, Xiao Nai unexpectedly sits next to her in class(?!). Then Nai He wants to meet. She goes to the rendezvous point... Why is Xiao Nai, the untouchable legend, hanging around here today? Imagine her shock when he scoops her up, takes her to the inter-department basketball game and then lets e'erbody know they are now dating. The way it plays out is fun. They already got to know eachother online. He's way ahead of her as he's been able to observe her IRL for awhile, and when he makes a move, it's for the win. The rest of the show is dealing with the petty tricks, jealousy and fallout that happens when these two popular items are removed from the shelf. They are each taken, now, and not everyone has an easy time accepting that without a fight.
For a modern-day Chinese feature this is pretty good.
Yang Yang, who plays the ML, Xiao Nai, does sell the viewer on his attraction to our FL, and he manages some top notch romantic moments. His voice in L020 and You Are My Glory sounds deep-fake. I think his voice in Kings's Avatar is the real him. Can he act? I wasn't sure that he could, going into this show. I've only seen him play all-powerful all-knowing slightly smug male leads, and I've only seen him in modern-day Chinese features, which are completely different from Chinese fantasy and historical features. It's time to watch Who Rules The World to crystallize his assessment. Regardless of acting skill, he's quite beautiful, and he also contributes to the soundtrack. He's no Kun Chen (from The Rise of the Phoenixes) but he'll do. His game hair is awful, like Qin Dynasty politician hair.
Zheng Shuang is the FL., Bei Wei Wei. She's sweet and demure. She remains too demure throughout the show which gets a tad tedious. Mao Xiao Tong plays her BFF Zhao Er Xi. Despite references to her average looks, she is an adorable pixie. She actually does look like Cao Guang's (Bai Yu) 🐱, Coffee. They usually have her hair and costume looking dreadful. She has short hair that has grown too sloppy and needs 2" taken off, but she is routinely referred to as plain or even homely when she's actually a knockout.
Speaking of Bai Yu and Yang Yang, the show has lots of beautiful men. Bai Yu, sans glasses and curls, is a very handsome man when inside the game, CGS. Xiao Nai's friends are well casted. Zheng Ye Cheng is "Girlie," Hao Mei, and he might be better looking than Yang Yang. He's stern, masculine, and sexy in The Sleepless Princess(9.1). I never recognized him - that's good acting! Vin Zhang as K. O. (he is fabulous in Eternal Love-8.3) & Cui Hang, playing Qiu Yong Hou, compliment the visual feast, and Niu Jun Feng is not only a nice looking guy, but he has an endearing quality as Yu Ban Shan. Hao Bo plays the gynophobic Ah Shuang. His fear of women is why the fledgling company cannot hire females. Xiao Ling (Qin Yu) & Yu Yao (Guan Xin) are the other two girl dormies. They don't get as much screen time as Er Xi. They never bring everybody together, which is a shame. I kept waiting for it, but it wasn't to be.
The primary romance is low drama and pleasant as a warm breeze. Nothing much happens, and the show has that "Prozac" effect that Chinese modern-day dramas all seem to have. While Chinese historical and fantasy pieces are superb in every way, their modern-day stuff is weirdly relaxing to watch despite being deeply flawed. There are at least two secondary romances that are quite cute but left mostly unfinished - they absolutely should have been wrapped up better - that's not a minor flaw. The 🐱 appears to be in serious distress in a couple scenes. In the States, I think it would have created a stir; I was concerned for that kitty. He's a gorgeous feline. Just as in You Are My Glory, which also features the comely Mr. Yang, L020 is too focused on the good looks of the leads. 20% of the dialogue seems to be about the exterior appearance of the characters, and that is so skin-deep. (I realize that I may have committed 20% of this article to what the actors look like... perhaps that's hypocritical🙄, but script & dialogue and critique & commentary are not the same thing). The acting is often stiff, the dialogue is often unimaginative and witless, and the plot drivers such as game dynamics, corporate maneuvering, and technical workings are not explained in the least. Don't expect to learn anything interesting: This show will only bring on rhythmic breathing - and that's enough.
They play completely respectable 🎸 riffs during some of the action. I've seen China rock-out better than Japan, at times. Both of them rock out better than Korea. Korea, on the other hand, reigns supreme in the realm of pop and soft rock. Anyway, the soundtrack isn't bad at all. All-in-all, L020 is a show that romance junkies, who don't get too prickly over technical mediocrity, will like. With the benefit of foreknowledge, I would still watch it again for the first time. Technical excellence alone doesn't make a show good. It must speak to the heart as well. L020 is food for the heart, not the brain, but its true payoff is its Prozac💊effect.

This is almost perfect for me, what a romantic drama should be - full of sweet moments, with the leads in perfect harmony with each other. The female lead looks rather anorexic, made more noticeable when she wears super short clothing, but she is blessed with such a pretty face that can make one almost ignore her extra slim frame. She is one of a few Chinese actresses whose beauty can match Yang Yang's. The second leads are a bit annoying, one too loud and the other too quick to mistrust, but they show how loveable the leads are, so they serve their purpose.
This is a great example of why more and more people are being charmed by Chinese dramas, where characters are allowed to be sweet and true to their feelings without being crass, over-the-top or lewd, where scenes that jaded viewers might consider cliché or cheesy warm the heart and let viewers bask in the glow of sweet love.

A full 30 episodes, not to be confused with the short movie with the same name. Being a fan of K-Drama, unfortunately Chinese Drama never seems to compare by any means. One thing I noticed is that the C-Drama always has the lead male cast as Cold, aloof and emotionless. The lead Yang Yang plays those characteristics perfectly and in addition is handsome, cool, arrogant and a guy of few words. He usually talks in one small sentence only. Later, he does warms up in the series and begins to smile when he later gets involved in a romance. I felt he was the only one who made the series, along with a buddy named Mr. Girly who had personality. The lead female is cute however so thin that it makes me wonder how much they eat in China. I always check the lead's profiles after watching and am sorry to read the recent disturbing scandals on the lead that seems to have affected her career.
What makes this series unique is that that the online profile romances intertwine with real life at the University without knowing the profile names or who is even playing, at school. Of course there are surprises as online rivals get revealed and outed as different situations of real life come into play. The computer graphics of the gaming is excellent. Another cold and emotionless actor enters the arena known as KO, a top hacker. It again amazes that this profile type of coldness and scary stares seems to be the norm in China Dramas.
Product placement is always pronounced in C-Drama. In this case blatant promotion of name brand Jeep and HP Computers, but if you watch C-Drama, expect it, as they are not sneaky about it at all.
Alot of Chinese culture is promoted in the game developed and also during the whole series. It is interesting to learn more about Chinese culture however some of it is a bit disturbing that comes out such as discussion on "relaxation of the 1 child policy", and others.
The ending doesn't seem to match the episode description - what I saw seems to be a little different. I am a little confused as to the culture of a Chinese wedding - was there a short cut taken? Or is this the way their weddings are?
What makes this series unique is that that the online profile romances intertwine with real life at the University without knowing the profile names or who is even playing, at school. Of course there are surprises as online rivals get revealed and outed as different situations of real life come into play. The computer graphics of the gaming is excellent. A very light-weight, heart-touching, sweet and captivating drama.
It really is unforgettable and i guarantee that you won't be able to get over the feeling for a very long time.
Definitely recommended!

I really enjoyed the series and loved the story. Became immersed in it and binge watched it in 3 days. I enjoyed the mood that was create and the pace was good. A lot of things were done right. I'm focusing on what annoed me.
My first problem was with the overacting from most of the characters. It looked putt on, it got silly and felt cheesy. It was overdone and irritating . I understand and appreciate the comedy aspect but it was too contrived and appeared childish.
I also felt the lead actress could have been better cast. The actress looks like she suffers from anorexia in real life. She looked sickly. I don't mean to be unkind about her personal health issues. However you would not cast an overweight person for this role but an emanciated actress is also not the right look. The other issue I had was her mannerisms and body language in her portrayal. It felt like she was constantly stepping on egg shells instead of just being in the role. I appreciate that her character was in awe of the leading man and there were instances of awkwardness around but her manerisms conveyed this the whole time.

I know a lot of people love this show and that's completely cool, I totally get it. Don't get me wrong, I finished all episodes, but it was very cheesy to me, even though I do like these kinds of shows. It felt cheesy and unrealistic along with the fact that I didn't feel the 2 leads had any chemistry together. To me, it almost felt as though most of them could act a bit except for them, even though she was better imo than Yang Yang (even though I felt he did great in The King's Avatar). Her bff was cute and fun and really helped keep this together even though she overdid it at times.
Honestly, I felt a lot of my feelings had to do with the script, directing, and editing. I don't feel like either of those gave the actors much to work with.
But, I did still finish it. ;)

Made me forget what's happening around us. I loved Yang Yang's character. First time I watched a Chinese Series and now hooked. Watched the whole Series multiple times already this week.
Such a sweet story - I didn't think I was going to like it because I thought it was all about online game playing but I was hooked and I wanted to see how it ended - loved this super sweet story - absolutely amazing !!
