Featured review
Thikka (2016): Sai Dharam Tej has delivered back to back hits recently.Though he entered Tollywood as nephew of Megastar,he successfully delivered hat-rick hits which is not yet achieved by Ram Charan too..So he attracted a lot of mass audience with his mass performance and mimicking mannerisms of his uncles.Thikka is his first movie which has no such mannerisms and no remix song of Megastar song which we can consider as dare attempt. How is Thikka??
Plot: Aditya(Sai Dharam Tej) is a happy go lucky employee who falls in love with Anjali(Larissa Bonessi). The twist in the tale arises when complications erupt between the couple and they break up with each other.Depressed with this, Aditya calls for a breakup party with his friends. A freaky incident during the party changes the course of Aditya's life. New characters like a dreaded don, a prostitute and heroine's father create even more confusion in the proceedings. Rest of the story is as to how Aditya manages to come out of this crazy situation and gets back on track.
Plus Points:
1)Thikka song: Thikka song which was sung by Tamil star Dhanush is the major highlight of this movie. It has good music and entertaining lyrics.I thoroughly enjoyed this song because it came in right where when I am feeling drowsy.
2)A very few comedy scenes: I cant even include this but I have to because there is no plus point to think about in Thikka. This movie is supposed to be a comedy movie but only a very few of the evokes laughs.Performances of Saptagiri,Fish Venkat,Satya and Ajay are good and quite hilarious.
Minus Points:
1)Screenplay and Direction: Its clear that director Sunil Reddy wanted to try a confusion drama on a group of drunkard friends. But his screenplay is so irritating with rubbish comedy and uninteresting scenes. There is no single scene which tries to make us laugh but most of them fails miserably.Climax is so silly that it is irritatingly repetitive and lasts for almost half n hour.Sunil Reddy's direction lacks maturity and he is the major drawback of this movie.Even his last movie Om 3d is also a rubbish one just like this Thikka.
2)Performances: Thikka has one of the most overacted performances in recent times. All of the them went overboard including Sai Dhram Teja and even our versatile Rajendra Prasad too. Both the actresses fails to impress.Ali irritates at his best.
3)Duration: Thikka provided an irritating 2hr 20 min torture in the name of comedy.
SO,Not only the title but also the movie is a mental torture in the name of comedy.Except the initial few minutes,Thikka song and very few comedy scenes,Thikka is forgettable movie with irritating screenplay.
My rating 4.5/10
