Variety is reporting that a Clayface movie is officially moving forward at DC Studios, with Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep; The Fall of the House of Usher; Midnight Mass) attached to write the screenplay.
Flanagan and Trevor Macy, his partner at Intrepid Pictures, pitched the potential film to James Gunn and Peter Safran over a year ago, and it looks like the idea won over the new DC bosses as they've issued a formal greenlight.
Plot details remain under wraps, but what we do know is that Clayface won't be a villain in the feature, which makes sense considering that back in 2021, Flanagan, when asked which DC movie he'd like to make, said, "Well I've wanted to do a Superman movie since I was a kid, but I would also be really keen to do a standalone Clayface movie as a horror/thriller/tragedy."
Filming is tentatively scheduled to begin early next year,...

"The Ballad of Gilligan's Island," in case it needs repeating, is the single best TV theme song of all time. In addition to explicitly explaining the premise of the classic show, "Ballad" introduces every single one of its seven main characters by name. It also helps that it's one of the most insidious earworms this side of "Yellow Submarine"; once you get "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island" stuck in your head, it will never leave. Your mind will be as lost as the Minnow.
In the original pilot episode for "Gilligan's Island," back before the final cast had been selected, the theme song was a calypso number composed by John Williams. That song, however, wasn't exactly what show creator Sherwood Schwartz wanted, so he and songwriter George Wyle wrote a second, better theme.. His and Schwartz's "Ballad" was written as a sea shanty, and no one can hear its...

Adam West has had countless adventures as Batman in live action. He portrayed the Caped Crusader in the legendary ABC TV series, which ran for three seasons from 1966 to 1968, and its live-action spinoff movie. In addition to this spectacular run as one of the most fun portrayals of Batman, he had a wonderful voice acting career. Many may remember him for his voice roles on The Fairly Odd Parents or Family Guy, but his career with DC was a huge part of his animated exploits.
West directly continued his time as Batman in The New Adventures of Batman (1977) all the way through to 1985's Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians. He also played Batman on Robot Chicken's third DC special, with an appearance from Burt Ward as well.
His other TV appearances are nothing short of fantastic. Critically-acclaimed '90s show Batman: The Animated Series featured him in the fan favorite episode,...

This article contains major spoilers for The Flash.
Holy revolving door, Batman! The Caped Crusader has been portrayed by more actors on the big screen than any other superhero in history. Most of them have lasted for just one film. After The Dark Knight Rises, Christian Bale became the first man to have played Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego more than twice on the silver screen. He didn’t have much competition – Michael Keaton was the only other actor to reprise the role at the time.
But Ben Affleck has now beat Bale for appearances as Batman on the big screen due to his return in The Flash movie, making that fourth time Affleck has donned the cape and cowl. Sure, these aren’t movies starring the Caped Crusader but they still count! Meanwhile, Keaton ties Bale for three appearances, with a much heftier role in The Flash than Affleck.

There are a few phrases that no actor wants to hear.
For instance, if a director says "I have a lot of notes," it suddenly means the work day will potentially get a lot longer. "Thank you, we'll let you know" is not something a hopeful performer wants to hear from a casting agent immediately following an audition. Likewise, "We're looking for someone younger." Any one of these can cause great cracks in an actor's ego, which may be an actor's most prominent feature.
Most terrifying of all, however, might be "We can't see you as anyone other than Batman." This was something actor Adam West, according to a 2017 interview with Moviefone (the actor's last before his death) had said to himself a few times after "Batman" was canceled in 1969.
Typecasting, of course, isn't always a curse. Being typecast as a heavy or a villain, for instance, can sometimes assure...

Few modern characters have captivated audiences and storytellers alike quite like Batman. Ever since writer Bill Finger and artist Bob Kane debuted the character in a 1939 issue of Detective Comics, the Dark Knight has demanded interest, first in comics, but soon also in TV, games and of course, movies. Because, goodness, there sure are a lot of Batman movies.
It didn’t take long for The Caped Crusader to arrive on film, making his theatrical debut all the way back in 1943 with a pair of Columbia Pictures serial films, and since then, the character’s cultural imprint has grown exponentially, with more than nine actors taking on the role in film – in fact, we’re about to have three live-action Batmen at the same time with the arrival of “The Flash.”
If that sounds like the Batman timeline is a confusing one, it can be, especially once the DC Multiverse opens up.

A new year has finally arrived and HBO Max is set to open it with a bang. With its list of new releases for January 2022, HBO Max is rolling out some intriguing original series and an absolutely packed slate of library titles.
The real highlight this month comes on Jan. 13 with the release of Peacemaker. Developed by James Gunn, this series spins off John Cena’s titular character from last years’ The Suicide Squad. The show will delve into the pathology of a superhero who will achieve peace regardless of how many people need to be killed to attain it.
Also of note this month are second seasons for two major HBO series. Euphoria season 2 and The Righteous Gemstones season 2 both premiere on Jan. 9, making for quite the odd double feature. Meanwhile, the fifth and final season of superb comedy Search Party arrives on Jan. 7.
January 2022 is light as far as original movies go.

There’s a Ton of DC movies coming to HBO Max in July, but they aren’t necessarily the ones you expect. While the service is still dealing with a number of its most high profile titles still cycling through previously agreed on streaming deals at competitors, they’re bringing in a lot of their lesser known titles to fill in the blanks. One thing they’re doing for the moment is extending the runs of Dceu “favorites” like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Suicide Squad through December.
But don’t sleep on the dozens of others on the way.
For one thing, there’s the complete set of Christopher Reeve Superman movies. While really, only two of those are any good, the first one is the greatest Superman movie of all time, and arguably the best superhero movie ever made. And while Superman III is generally quite bad,...

HBO Max is set to enter into its second month of existence. And you know what that means: it’s Christmas in July!
HBO Max’s list of new releases for July 2020 is highlighted by one prominent Christmas movie: last year’s Emilia Clarke-starring Last Christmas. But the real cause for Christmas in July is all the exciting animated DC content coming our way on the first of the month. July 1 sees the arrival of just about every animated Batman project ever created. July 1 also features the arrival of just about every Justice League animated series ever created as well.
If that weren’t enough, July 1 is also when every live-action Superman movie (save for Man of Steel) makes it streaming debut. July is starting to look like a month where HBO Max establishes its real potential and geek culture bonafides…despite an at-times difficult rollout.

When HBO Max launched last month, DC fans hoped it would be the premiere place to go to watch all their favorite DC content. While the streaming service did have an impressive array of films and TV shows available on launch, there were a lot of notable missing titles, too, due to pre-existing licenses getting in the way. As time goes on, though, more DC properties will end up on the site. Case in point: this July will see a whole heap of superhero content go up on HBO Max.

The CW billed their “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover as their biggest yet, pulling in actors and characters from across DC’s live-action adaptations. The more we learn about the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event, the cooler it looks to be. In case you hadn’t heard, this past weekend brought news confirming that not only is Lamonica Garrett playing the villainous Anti-Monitor, but also that Brandon Routh will suit up as Kingdom Come Superman.
If that weren’t enough, Deadline reports that the iconic Burt Ward will also be stopping by during the prime time extravaganza. This is especially exciting because Mr. Ward continues to define Robin, the Boy Wonder for fans of all ages, as the Batman TV series from the 1960’s still serves as a gateway to the superhero genre for people all over the globe.
Now, we advise that you take the next bit with a grain of salt because it hasn’t been confirmed by the network as of yet, but Cosmic Book News said they learned from...

And holy casting news Batman, we know who’s going to be in it. Batman will be played by Troy Baker, who’ll also be The Joker. The Turtles will be played by Eric Bauza (Leonardo), Baron Vaughn (Donatello), Darren Criss (Raphael), and Kyle Mooney (Michelangelo). The film will also feature a who’s who of Batman villains, with Tara Strong as both Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, Tom Kenny as Penguin, John Dimaggio as Mr. Freeze, Carlos Alazragui as Bane, and Cas Anvar as Ra’s al Ghul.

Since his introduction in 1939, Batman has appeared in countless movies, animations, TV and
radio shows, books, comic books and newspapers. The franchise, complete with numerous
merchandising items, is believed to have made almost $24 billion. Let’s talk about a few
things that all Batman enthusiasts should have in their collections.
The blockbuster movies are probably the main source of information about Bruce Wayne and
his dark alter ego for most people because it is something that has the best chance to reach
wider audiences. Plus, everybody likes to see an action-packed movie from time to time.
Since the first attempts to introduce the superhero to a big (or silver) screen in the 1940s,
about two dozen films, series and TV shows have featured his likeness. Naturally, some better
than the others. Adam West was the first memorable Batman. Starring in the 1966 series and

DC’s Elseworlds series were some of my favorite comics as a kid. Why would I want to get wrapped up in the stodgy, never-ending plots of Death and Return of Superman or Knightfall when I could enjoy Batman becoming a vampire in Batman & Dracula: Red Rain, a Communist Superman in Red Son or the weird alt-dc Universe of Jla: The Nail?
The originator of this label was Brian Augustin and Mike Mignola’s excellent Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, which transposes Bruce Wayne/Batman to the late 19th century and has him tangle with Jack the Ripper (and was subsequently ranked as the 11th greatest Batman graphic novel of all-time by IGN). Clearly, someone at DC agrees with me, because 2018 will see the arrival of an animated adaptation of the story and, from the looks of the trailer above, it’s going to be awesome.

Last year, Warner Bros. treated us with the awesome Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, which saw the likes of Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar reprise their roles of Batman, Robin and Catwoman, respectively. Being essentially the beginning to a fourth season we never received, it surpassed expectations by retaining the feel of the classic 1960’s television series, while also featuring grandiose action scenes that could’ve never been accomplished on the budget of the show.
Not being content to rest on their laurels, the fine folks who put together DC’s wonderful animated movies continued the legacy with Batman vs. Two Face, a followup that may have very well been the brand’s best offering this year (you can check out our review here). But with West’s recent passing being an unfortunate reality, one would only assume that the book has been closed on the Bright Knight.

When it comes to characters that we love, you’ll probably agree with me in saying that we all possess some vague memory of how we were exposed to them. As a lifelong fan of Batman, I can at least remember that Adam West was my introduction to the Dark Knight (or Bright Knight, in this case). Honestly, I can’t properly recall if it was via the TV show from the ’60s or the Super Friends animated series, but either way, he was my first Batman.
Having confessed that, you can imagine that I was quite thrilled when West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar reprised their roles of Batman, Robin and Catwoman, respectively, in last year’s Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. The Batman vs. Two-Face animated movie nearly invited Poison Ivy to the special guest batvillain party.
Warner Bros. has been fulfilling longtime Batman fan dreams for the last year. After first reuniting Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar for Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders, they immediately revealed the news that they'd be bringing one of the greatest Batman villains to never appear on the original TV series to the screen, with this year's Batman vs. Two-Face. Not only that, they got the legendary William Shatner to voice the dual role of Harvey Dent and Two-Face.
There are a handful of iconic Batman villains of the era who never joined the ranks of Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin, or Mr. Freeze on TV. Scarecrow, Two-Face, and Poison Ivy were all around during the era of the Batman TV series, but never made the jump to live action as "special guest batvillains.

Last year's Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders animated movie, which saw Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar return to the roles of Batman, Robin, and Catwoman, was an absolute delight. Unfortunately, Adam West died earlier this year, but not before completing his voice work on Batman Vs. Two-Face, a new animated adventure that will pair him with Shatner as Harvey Dent/Two-Face.

This is the follow-up to last year’s Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and it co-stars William Shatner as Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two-Face, Burt Ward as Robin, and Julie Newmar as Catwoman.

Late last year, we were treated to what may very well have been the best DC animated movie of 2016 in the form of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. Basically, it reunited surviving members of the 1960’s television series’ cast, as Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar reprised their roles of Batman, Robin and Catwoman, respectively, effectively making it feel like the beginning to a fourth season we never received.
So, if you also enjoyed that film, it’s probably safe to say that you were quite excited to learn that a sequel in the form of Batman vs. Two-Face was also in the works. Although Warner Bros. have found much success in recent decades when it comes to animated films based off DC Comics properties, very few of them have gone beyond the direct-to-video market. Maybe it’s because when Batman: Mask of the Phantasm debuted in theatres nearly 20 years ago, it unfortunately didn’t pull in much money despite being a critical darling and one of the best movies to ever feature the Dark Knight. Period.
In the time since, dozens of stellar flicks have materialized, and the mainstream popularity currently being enjoyed by superheroes has certainly helped the cause. In fact, just last year, both Batman: The Killing Joke and Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders were released in theatres as limited engagements. Now, to the surprise of not very many, Batman and Harley Quinn is following suit.
Seeing as how this is WB Animation’s first 2017 offering to get this treatment, it quickly becomes apparent that they’re going with whichever ones they believe will be the biggest moneymakers. Sure, both Justice League Dark and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract included either the World’s Greatest Detective himself or related characters, but anything featuring him as the headliner – let alone sharing the bill with the white hot Harley Quinn – is going to take top priority.
As it turns out, Batman and Harley Quinn will arrive in theatres on Monday, August 14 for yet another “one night only” engagement, which happens to be the very day before its home video release. Tickets go on sale on June 30, so be sure to follow the source link to Fathom Events, and to keep watch as to which cinemas near you will be taking part.

There was a sequel to that film in development called Batman vs. Two-Face and West completed his voiceover work for the film before he passed away. I love that after all these years West was still playing Batman. West was Batman. The animated film co-stars William Shatner as Harvey Dent, and also features the return of Burt Ward as Robin and Julie Newmar as Catwoman.

Batman fans the world over are still reeling from the tragic passing of Adam West at the age of 88. The actor became a pop culture icon in the 1960s for his camp-tastic portrayal of the not-so Dark Knight in the classic Batman TV series.
