Filmmaker Mike Siegel (Passion & Poetry - The Ballad of Sam Peckinpah, 2005) first met US filmmaker Robert Rodriguez at the German premiere for From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) where Rodriguez explained in detail to Siegel how he had made his $7000 sensation El Mariachi in 1992. Siegel immediately canceled his planned short film debut and instead filmed his feature debut Pendechos! for approx. $12.000 on Super 16mm.
90% of the $12.000 budget was spent on 16mm film stock, the filming itself of Pendechos! cost less than $2000 .
Martial Artist Kim Branciforte, who plays "Razzo" in the film, has won over two dozen World & European Championships.
