Terry Crews has signed with CAA for representation.

Crews started his career as a professional linebacker and defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams, San Diego Chargers and Washington Commanders before he retired from the NFL in 1997 and pursued acting.

His breakout role was in the 2004 comedy “White Chicks,” and since then he has starred in “Everybody Hates Chris,” “The Expendables” franchise, “Idiocracy” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” in which he portrayed the eccentric Lieutenant Terry Jeffords.

Nearly six years after the release of his last comedy special, Adam Sandler is returning to Netflix with “Adam Sandler: Love You.” The comedy special directed by “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems” co-director Josh Safdie will premiere globally on the streamer Aug. 27.

The first trailer for the special shows Sandler in a surprisingly intimate theater rather than a large arena. After joking with the audience a bit, he gets down to the brass tacks of what everyone can expect.

“Anyway, I talk a lot and then I sing and then we do a bunch of s–t. All right, so here it goes,” Sandler says.

The ever-moving camera then cuts between Sandler onstage with mic in hand, closeups of him signing shirts and a car driving away as its being chased by a crowd of people. “We’ve lost control,” Sandler says as a dog appears from backstage and happily greets the audience.

Richard Lewis, the beloved comedian, stand-up comedy all-star, and series regular on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, has died after suffering a heart attack. He was 76. Lewis’ death was confirmed by his publicist, Jeff Abraham. “His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship and support and asks for privacy at this time,” Abraham said.

Richard Lewis’ comedic journey began with dual debuts in the New York and Los Angeles comedy arenas in the 1970s. Mentioned in the same breaths as comedy legends like Andy Kaufman, Richard Belzer, and Elayne Boosler, Lewis’ comedy style was darker and more self-deprecating than his fellow kings and queens of comedy. Adam Sandler has set a new comedy special at Netflix — this time directed by Josh Safdie.

The project continues Sandler’s string of collaborations with Safie, who co-directed him in 2019’s “Uncut Gems” alongside his brother Benny Safdie. Sandler also starred in the brothers’ 2020 short film “Goldman v. Silverman” and is set to lead an upcoming feature set in the world of sports memorabilia to be directed by Josh and produced by Benny, though the latter told Variety in January that the film was “on pause.”

The movie is an adaptation of author Fiona Rosenbloom’s 2005 novel of the same name. The trailer shows seventh-grade student Stacy (Sunny Sandler) fantasising about her dream bat mitzvah and hanging with her friend Lydia (Samantha Lorraine), with whom she dreams of owning a loft in the same area as Taylor Swift.

Richard Lewis, the 78-year-old comedian and co-star of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” posted a video on Sunday to give a little update about his life and career. He knows that fans have been wondering if he’ll ever tour again. The answer to that appears to be “no” due to a feeling of completion with what he’s done with that art form after 50 years, but also a series of health problems.

In the joke-free but still upbeat video, Lewis says that three-and-a-half years ago he completed a tour and felt that if he were to stop, he’d be going out on top. Maybe “Uncut Gems” earned back some of the good will that Adam Sandler sacrificed at the altar of his lucrative Netflix deal and the laugh-free career lows that came with it. Maybe the world is such a hellmouth right now that 90-year-old June Squibb wearing a t-shirt that says “boner donor” is all it takes to feel a little better about things for a hot second. Or maybe — just maybe — Sandler’s latest streaming comedy is a step up from the paid vacation of “Murder Mystery” and the high-pitched swill of “Sandy Wexler.” I honestly don’t know. That might be a dereliction of duty for a film critic whose only job is to explain why the things they watch are good or bad, but anyone who’s sure of anything these days is just lying to themselves.

Netflix isn’t wasting any time when it comes to adding some notable names to the second season of The Kominsky Method. The streaming giant announced today that Jane Seymour, Jacqueline Bisset and Paul Reiser will join the sophomore season of the Golden Globe-winning comedy in recurring roles.

Seymour will play Madelyn who is described as a seventy-something, well-to-do woman whom Norman (Alan Arkin) had a mad love affair with in the ’60s before he met his wife. After fifty years, the two reunite and start it again. Bisset steps into the role of Gabrielle who is Mindy’s (Sarah Baker) mom and Sandy’s (Michael Douglas) French ex-wife who delights in still being able to push the buttons of her ex-husband. Rounding out the trio is Reiser who plays a sixty-something high school teacher who gets romantically involved with Mindy.

Adam Sandler is officially making a movie with Josh and Benny Safdie. Deadline confirms the actor will lead “Uncut Gems,” the latest feature from the indie film duo behind “Heaven Knows What” and last year’s critical darling “Good Time.” The casting marks the second Safdie feature in a row to star a prominent actor in the lead role. Robert Pattinson played the lead in “Good Time” and earned some of the best reviews of his career for the performance.

Plot specifics for “Uncut Gems” are being kept under wraps, although the film is set in New York City’s diamond district. The screenplay was written by the Safdie brothers and their regular collaborator Ronald Bronstein. A24 is backing the drama after the company’s success with the Safdies on “Good Time” last summer. Producers include Scott Rudin and Eli Bush through Scott Rudin Produtions and Sebastian Bear-McClard and Oscar Boyson through Elara Pictures.

Adam Sandler's Netflix movie, Murder Mystery, will reunite him with his Just Go with It co-star, Jennifer Aniston.

Adam Sandler, comedy’s former box office king, has spent the past few years making Netflix his exclusive feature film home, thanks to a lucrative deal, one that was even reupped last year for four more films. With Sandler’s Netflix sandbox having reunited him with various former SNL co-stars, notably with Chris Rock in the recent comedy, The Week Of, the upcoming movie, Murder Mystery, is facilitating a reunion with Jennifer Aniston, with whom he co-starred in 2011’s Just Go with It.

Sources tell Variety that Sandler will reunite with his “Just Go With It” co-star on Netflix’s comedy “Murder Mystery.”

“Workaholics” co-creator Kyle Newacheck is on board to direct from a script by James Vanderbilt.

The story follows a New York cop (Sandler) and his wife (Aniston), who become prime suspects in the murder of an elderly billionaire while vacationing in Europe.

Sandler and Aniston, according to insiders, had been looking for an opportunity to work together again following the 2011 success of “Just Go With It,” which earned $103 million at the domestic box office, $215 million globally.

“Murder Mystery” marks Sandler’s sixth feature project at Netflix, while it’s Aniston’s first time working with the streaming giant. She’s also attached to star in a new Apple TV series opposite Reese Witherspoon.

Many eyebrows were raised when comedian Adam Sandler was signed by Netflix on a three-picture deal in what was the subscription services biggest deal at the time. The company has expanded even more since he signed, but the marriage between the two has been a happy one thus far.
