The script called for the main actor to drive his hostage to San Francisco. However, both actors were from Taiwan, underage and with no driver's license. The script had to be altered so writer/director Alice Wang took pen to paper and that is how the producer Tim Lowry wound up on screen. Tim became the guy that got car jacked and was forced to drive them where they wanted to go.
