Daniel Mays remembers Michael Douglas and Timothy Van Patten, the respectively star and director of new Apple TV drama Franklin, bursting into song whenever he appeared on set.
It came about because during the Franklin shoot in Paris, director Nicholas Hytner asked Mays to star at London’s Bridge Theatre as good old reliable Nathan Detroit in an immersive production of the classic Broadway fable Guys & Dolls by Frank Loesser, Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling.
Upon hearing this news, Douglas insisted, ”You’re doing it, Danny — no question about it.”
The adaption of Damon Runyon’s tales was Van Patten’s father’s favorite musical, “so then within the hour, more like a whole bloody second, every time I came on set, they kept playing ‘The Oldest Established [Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York], and Michael and Noah Jupe would join in.”
Even the French crew got in the swing of it.

How many well-dressed, business-savvy Southern Californians does it take to sell a luxury home? Well, if it’s a home listed by one of The Oppenheim Group’s pro agents, the answer’s usually just one. But it takes many, many more people to make up a successful brokerage. All Selling Sunset fans know that with more agents comes more drama — and Selling the Oc is about to prove that point once again. The Selling Sunset spin-off, the second season of which premieres Sept. 8, follows Oppenheim Group CEO Jason Oppenheim to his new Newport Beach office location. A fresh office brings new personalities, sizzling listings and lots of competition. These are the Selling stars fighting to become real estate royalty in Orange County, including several models and four Alexandras. The time for choosing sides starts now.

The story of a man and a beast. This entrancing short film is titled Alberto and The Beast and it played at last year's Toronto Film Festival. After screening at festivals it's now online to enjoy - all 17 minutes of it. While working for a children's show, a wildlife researcher encounters Bigfoot in the woods. Alberto and The Beast is written and directed by John Paul Lopez-Ali, starring Bruno Kanter as Alberto. (He looks a lot like Burn Gorman.) This is also the perfect companion piece to the other Bigfoot movie arriving in theaters later this month - Sasquatch Sunset from the Zellner Brothers. Both Sunset and Alberto approach sasquatches with the same sensibilities - they're misunderstood creatures and humans shouldn't just see them as a rare phenomenon to capture on camera. I do wish there was a bit more going on with Alberto and his new friend in this short,...

If you’ve ever been curious about the dining establishments visited by the agents of Netflix’s hit docusoap Selling Sunset, you’re in for a treat. The Hollywood Reporter has painstakingly made a list of all the show’s restaurants, starting back with season one, all the way up to the newest, season seven, dropped on Nov. 3. (A few places that are missing are the restaurants that didn’t make it through the pandemic and a few mystery locales that don’t give enough clues.)
We all know that Sunset has some of the hottest mansion porn in television and for the past few seasons, the show has also firmly established itself as a fashion voyeur’s obsession. But apart from the lavish real estate, intense outfits, and of course, the agents and the particular brand of drama each of them brings, there’s another thing that has a...

Selling Sunset broker Jason Oppenheim and his girlfriend Marie-Lou Nurk are enjoying a vacation in Greece, where the pair’s relationship began.
Jason and Marie-Lou have been jet-setting across Europe with Brett Oppenheim and his girlfriend Samantha Abdul.
The brothers and their significant others first spent time in Germany.
While there, Marie-Lou shared photos of herself and Jason enjoying dinner with friends in Berlin.
The two weren’t afraid to pack on the Pda during their outing and seemed utterly smitten with one another.
From there, the foursome headed to Athens, Greece, and seemed to enjoy a beautiful day relaxing, enjoying a glass of wine, and taking in the view.

Could Marie-Lou become Mrs. Jason Oppenheim? Nicole Young hopes so. Pic credit: @marielounurk/Instagram
Selling Sunset broker Jason Oppenheim is not keeping his relationship with French model Marie-Lou Nurk under wraps.
In August, the new couple made their red carpet debut at the premiere of the Netflix film Day Shift. Marie-Lou has also accompanied Jason on various getaways.
But regardless of whether the model appears in the Netflix series, she’s made many appearances on Jason’s Instagram Stories and that of his friends, including realtor Nicole Young.
In honor of Marie-Lou’s birthday, Jason held a private dinner at Lavo in West Hollywood to celebrate his girlfriend’s special day.
Marie-Lou received lots of birthday love from friends, which she reposted to her Instagram Story, but the most notable birthday shoutout came from Nicole.
In the now expired Story, Nicole said, “Happy birthday sweetheart! [red heart emoji, smiling face with hearts emoji] Aka future Mrs Oppenheim?! Nothing would make me happier!

Chrishell Stause got brutally honest on Instagram about one of her Selling Sunset costars. Pic credit: ImageCollect.com/ImagePressAgency
Filming for Selling Sunset Season 6 began last month, and even without Christine Quinn, the drama is already underway.
Chrishell Stause took to Instagram and made her feelings about one of her costars abundantly clear via her Stories.
The realtor and former soap opera star chose not to name names when calling out her co-worker.
But while Chrishell may have kept her followers in the dark regarding whom she was upset with, the reality TV star made it clear to the individual exactly where she stands regarding their friendship.
In the now expired Instagram Story, Chrishell not so subtly called her co-worker a clown while Mariah Carey’s song Thirsty played over the image.
Venting, Chrishell claimed, “the thirst for camera time on season 6 is Real. Wow. That was insanity. But also So transparent.

Prepared to be charmed by this Selling Sunset tidbit. The show's star Emma Herman once made an appearance on Southern Charm—season three, episode nine to be exact. We have eagle-eyed Bravo fan Ally Manor to thank for this recon. On April 28, she shared a TikTok revealing Emma's cameo. In the clip, Emma can be seen introducing herself to Shep Rose and Craig Conover, who were in L.A. on a boys' trip with their co-star Whitney Sudler-Smith at the time. "Are y'all California girls?" Shep asks Emma and her group of friends before the cameras flash to a confessional, where he's complaining about being overwhelmed by the...

The latest one that's causing a buzz? A scene involving realtor Christine Quinn during series newcomer Chelsea Lazkani's tea party. Here's the tea: In episode eight titled "She's Your Problem...

"Selling Sunset" season five is dominated by one major topic: Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim's relationship. News of their relationship broke in July 2021, but fans had to wait until season five aired on Netflix to get the inside look at what actually happened between the two.
On "Selling Sunset," their relationship - which they both say grew naturally out of their friendship - causes waves through the Oppenheim Group and its agents, but only Christine Quinn is vocal about the way this new dynamic negatively affects the workplace. Christine's methods aren't always the best; she says at one point, "I was wondering why I wasn't getting listings. Then I was like, 'Oh, yeah. It's 'cause I'm not f*cking my boss.'" But watching the series, I couldn't help but feel like she had a point. Oppenheim and Stause's relationship deeply changed the office dynamic, and it wasn't fair...

Real estate shows play to many aspects of what an audience wants: fantasy, escapism, relatability, drama and personalities that can get welcomed into a viewer’s home on a regular basis. Such shows as Netflix’s “Selling Sunset,” “Million Dollar Beach House” and the ur-series of this nonfiction subgenre, “Million Dollar Listing L.A.” and “Million Dollar Listing New York,” slake a thirst for all those needs, and more.

A fascination with Vice-President elect Kamala Harris could drive American audiences towards Mira Nair’s mini-series “A Suitable Boy,” the director says.
Based on Vikram Seth’s epic 1993 novel, the series follows the Mehra family and their associates as they go about the process of finding a husband for 19-year-old university student Lata Mehra (newcomer Tanya Maniktala), against the backdrop of the 1951 general elections in newly independent India.
The series aired on the BBC in July and began streaming in several territories on Netflix, excluding North America, in October. AMC Networks’ Acorn TV acquired the series for North America, as revealed by Variety.
“Certainly what we show in ‘A Suitable Boy,’ that extraordinary idealism of the fifties that created a free India and the first elections, is something that I have never seen in America about the sub-continent,” the Indian director tells Variety.

Dancing With the Stars is losing another beloved face ahead of its 29th season.
ABC announced Tuesday that Derek Hough will serve as a judge for the upcoming season, replacing Len Goodman.
Goodman is unable to travel to film the series because he is currently living in the United Kingdom, and there are travel restrictions due to Covid-19.
Goodman will be a part of the series "in a different capacity," presumably via Zoom, which has helped a lot of shows continue to production as we get to grips with the threat of the pandemic.
“This show has been and will always be incredibly special to me,” Hough said in a statement, confirming the news.
“Coming back feels like coming home, and I couldn’t be more excited to be back in the ballroom.”
Hough will judge the series alongside returning judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

Erin Andrews and Tom Bergeron have been fired, and will be handing over the hosting duties to new Executive Producer Tyra Banks.
In a new interview with Extra, Andrews has opened up about the moment she learned she was ousted, as well as her thoughts on Banks taking over the show.
"It was a surprise," said Andrews.
"I got a phone call and I answered the phone. I was like, 'This isn't good.'"
Andrews said that she still speaks with Bergeron, as well as the pro dancers.
"I text Tom, like once a week … and the dancers as well. That's a family," she said.

Chrissy Teigen has boarded the Selling Sunset train, and she has some thoughts. After the real estate reality show on Netflix built up quite a strong fan base, it was only a matter of time until Teigen dove in, and we are so glad she did. The over-the-top personalities are no joke on the fascinating, Los Angeles-based series, but Teigen is reassuring fans that the drama miiiight be a little amplified.
"I just watched all of Selling Sunset after watching everyone talk about it for so long! I don't even think anyone on it is as mean or insane as you guys said? Maybe I'm just so used to it because I live here? This is pretty normal lol some are actually really nice," she wrote. "Maybe I also know everyone on tv plays up a character. They're all doing that. Chrishell Stause has a pretty unique first name - but do you know the story of how she got it? The Selling Sunset star has had that name plastered all over the headlines for the past several weeks, thanks to her highly publicized split with now-ex-husband Justin Hartley, and the tale behind her first name is somehow stranger and simultaneously more mundane than you might have imagined.
First of all, Chrishell Stause isn't actually her full legal name: she was born Terrina Chrishell Stause. That unusual middle name, though, has something of a quirky backstory. As she explains in season one of Selling Sunset, "Chrishell" was made up by her parents in tribute to the circumstances of her birth. Stause's mother went into labor with her daughter at a Shell gas station, and an attendant named Chris helped her deliver the baby. In tribute to this unusual experience and the...

In news we never saw coming but probably should have, Karamo Brown and Christine Quinn are friends. Selling Sunset fans were treated to the Netflix crossover in season three of the series, which premiered on Aug. 7. In the finale episode, "A Not So White Wedding," the Queer Eye star enlists the luxury real estate agent to help him find a new home, and they end up bonding over their "over-the-top weddings" and shared extraness. Given that both Christine and Karamo have shows on Netflix, their friendship isn't totally random, but just how exactly did these two become friends?
As it turns out, Karamo personally reached out to Christine about making a possible cameo on the show because he and husband Ian Jordan were looking for a house at the time. "When he reached out to me I couldn't believe it! He wrote a really sweet post on Instagram.

During her Behind the Velvet Rope interview, the mom of two touched on Chrishell Stause and Justin Hartley's shocking divorce, Christine Quinn's larger-than-life personality and so much more. To borrow a phrase, when it came to Star Trek circa 1980-1981, “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”
On the one hand, the arrival of Star Trek: The Motion Picture in 1979 had proven that audiences would show up for the big screen adaptation of a cult TV series that had gone off the air a decade earlier. The millions of fans who had never even seen the show in its original 1966-1969 run on NBC, but had caught it in syndication, were clearly hungry for more adventures with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
On the other hand, the negative critical response to that film and the incredible expense incurred in bringing it to the screen — its $44 million budget was the highest for a film made in the U.S. up to that time — had franchise owner Paramount Pictures rethinking its approach.

Setting the record straight! As Shahs of Sunset fans surely recall, Reza Farahan took the stage at BravoCon in November 2019 and provided updates about where he stood with a number of cast members—including Mike Shouhed, who Reza said he had recently reconciled with. However, as Andy Cohen brings up in this exclusive sneak-peek of the two-part Shahs season 8 virtual reunion, in the months following BravoCon, rumors surfaced that the two hadn't made up, and instead gotten into a "blowout" fight. "I read that you guys had a big blow up at Bravocon. Is that right?" Andy asks as a headline from All About The Tea appears on screen reading, "Exclusive: Shahs of Sunset Reza...

Paul Weller’s new solo album On Sunset is out this Friday, but he’s already hard at work on the next one. Despite the music industry grinding to a halt in the wake of Covid-19 — his 2020 tour dates moved to 2021, and his album was pushed back three weeks — the former Jam singer can’t stop conducting the orchestras in his head.
“First of all, I’ve been unemployed for [the first time] in 43 years,” he says. “The tours were all canceled. But I’m trying to be positive. I’ve spent more time with my kids.

Thirteen weeks, five days and five hours after being postponed, the Premier League is back today. For a sport-starved world, it will be akin to a Premier League World Cup — a festival of football that will see 92 games being played in little more than a month and the crowning of a new champion (Liverpool have something of a headstart).
For obvious reasons, it won’t entirely be the beautiful game we know and love. The Premier League’s return will not be greeted by the roar of packed stadiums, as fans remain at home to protect themselves from a coronavirus pandemic that still rages in the UK, a country among the worst affected in the world.
But to make up for the closed stands, British broadcasters will join international contemporaries in airing every single kick of what’s left of the 2019/20 season — an unprecedented loosening of rights that matches the truly unusual times.

"There's uncertainty every single day!" But pandemic be damned, a movie only turns 70 once, and rarely with any of its stars around to celebrate the occasion, so Olson, who is 91 and Sunset's last ...

President Trump has long loathed the Academy Awards, viewing the ceremony as a teeming hive of the Hollywood elites who have categorically rejected him (except for Jon Voight).
But he has a predictable new gripe with this year’s Oscars, which he aired Thursday night during a rally in Colorado. Trump wasn’t happy that a foreign film, South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite, won the top prize.
“How bad were the Academy Awards this year? Did you see?” Trump said. “And the winner is … a movie from South Korea.
