Multi-faceted digital star Todrick Hall is celebrating the release this week of his debut documentary, Behind The Curtain -- an AwesomenessTV-produced project chronicling the 32-year-old's ascension to fame as well as a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the making of his Straight Outta Oz visual album (which was also the name of a subsequent tour).
Hall will be attending the premiere of Behind The Curtain tonight in his home state of Texas, though the film -- which was directed by Katherine Fairfax Wright (Call Me Kuchu) -- officially bowed yesterday on digital platforms, including iTunes and Amazon. "The amount of opportunities that I was right to audition for were so small, being an openly gay African-American man in the industry,” Hall told Billboard of conceiving Straight Outta Oz. “I just felt that I needed to get these things out in a way that didn’t make me seem like a victim or an angry black man.

Todrick Hall wrote and recorded an entire album, Straight Outta Oz, and prepped a nationwide tour in mere weeks -- all of which is documented in Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall. And in this clip, debuting on Et, he reacts to his record hitting No. 2 on the charts. "Further up the charts than we ever could have imagined," he tells Et.
The artist at No. 1? Beyoncé. "To say Beyoncé has inspired and influenced me is an understatement, so to be second on the charts only to my idol was one thing," Hall says, calling it "one of the most incredible moments of my life." "But to see the love and support of my fans was just a dream come true."
Behind the Curtain had its premiere at South by Southwest earlier this year, and Et spent the day with Hall ahead of a screening at Outfest this summer. "I sometimes think, Do people find this...

"I sometimes think, Do people find this interesting?" Todrick Hall shrugs. "Because this is my life every day and, you know, people could do this if they wanted to."
We are standing just backstage at the historic Theatre at Ace Hotel immediately following the Outfest screening of Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall, a documentary that followed Todrick as he wrote and recorded a full-length visual album, Straight Outta Oz, then turned that album into a stage show and toured nationwide to perform it. From our vantage point behind the velvet curtain, we can watch the attendees -- hundreds of fans, friends and other industry folk -- filing out under the glimmering mirrored ceiling into the Broadway Theater District of Downtown L.A. I've asked Todrick if this all feels as glamorous to him as it seems.
"I thought at one point I would get to a certain place and I would be like, Ok, now I'm...

Inception 2 isn’t likely to happen – not now, and perhaps not ever, according to Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
When quizzed about the possibility of a sequel by one curious Twitter user (via Screen Rant), Gordon-Levitt laughed off the suggestion that Christopher Nolan was planning to get the crew back together for another mind heist.
First released in 2010, Inception is arguably one of Nolan’s greatest achievements – a fiercely original piece of work that is so meticulously crafted, it demands to be viewed multiple times in order to parse its labyrinthine plot. Dazzling viewers with intricate storylines is a common trait of Nolan’s, as is the director’s natural tendency to avoid retreading old territory. With the exception of The Dark Knight trilogy, ‘Christopher Nolan’ and ‘movie sequel’ are two terms that you’re unlikely to find nestled in the same sentence, so by that logic alone, Inception 2 has always been considered an unrealistic proposition.

Gordon-Levitt and “21 Jump Street” writer Michael Bacall reportedly pitched the idea in 2016, starting a heated bidding war among several studios.
The story centers on two pilots who crash-land in Las Vegas. Sources told Variety the movie will be in the vein of “Pitch Perfect” and “The Book of Mormon.” Other filmmakers who were considered to direct the project included James Bobin, Seth Gordon and “The Book of Mormon” director Casey Nicholaw.
Marc Platt Productions’ Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce alongside Tatum’s Free Association and Gordon-Levitt’s HitRecord Films. Universal senior VP of production Kristin Lowe will oversee the project for the studio.

With his soulful vocals and penchant for pop-music mashups, Todrick Hall has won over millions of fans, found a crew of A-list pals and now snagged the spotlight on Broadway.
On Tuesday, the singer stepped into a pair of sequined heels to play Lola in Kinky Boots, a role he’ll he’ll take on eight times a week at the Al Herschfeld Theatre in New York City. Dressing up in drag and baring his soul are par for the course these days for Hall, but the singer wasn’t always so comfortable in his skin.

Named after the late philanthropist and president and CEO of Rogers Communications, the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund will provide financial support to Canadian documentarians.
