First it was 'Moms' Night Out', followed by 'Bad Moms' and now this. But this was not as same as those two. Somewhat a different film. It kind of mix of fun and serious. I thought it was kind of inspired by 'Big Little Lies'. Only the settings and the characters, but the rest of the tale was fun version. Though not entirely funny film. There are some serious talks about the life, but then goes off the reality for a second. That terrible mix of commercialisation and art, did not do any good.
It was not all about them. I liked the husbands' parts too. What they had talked and what they have learnt, all were interesting and inspiring. Beautiful characters and the performances. Short film and a decent one. It did not do well among the film goers, but I think those moms deserve to return. I would love that, only it has to get a better storyline. Surely it won't happen now. Overall worth a watch, a decent film than what you have seen, heard about it.

'Fun Mom Dinner' isn't very good. I'll admit it still beat my expectations - it isn't cringe or awkward, it just doesn't have any humour to it which is a big negative for a comedy.
The lead cast of Toni Collette, Molly Shannon, Bridget Everett and Katie Aselton are all fine, though I don't sense any real chemistry between them. They are also held back by the lack of funny moments. The characters of Adam Scott and Rob Huebel are kinda pointless, too.
Aside from all that, it also doesn't help that almost every other element to this is extremely predictable... a bit of intrigue would have went a long way. At least it's only a short production, which saves things from dragging out.
This is one to watch to pass some time, just not one to be remembered at all.

Good comedy .... These all female cast movies usually feel similar but overall a good movie. With the cast doing a good job and enjoyable in the end.

There was only one other user review here, so I just had to leave another one. This is probably the most pointless movie ever. I think it is supposed to be funny and sure it may have gotten me to lift the corners of my mouth a few times, slightly. But the whole time, and yes I finished watching it, I was waiting for the movie to go somewhere, so have a point, to, I don't know, start really. What bugs me the most is Toni Colette's part. She is in my eyes a great actress who can do amazing things. Molly Shannon on the other hand is one of those actresses I usually avoid (the other two I didn't know). But how did Colette end up in this part? Did she have to fulfill a contract? And what did Adam Levine doing in this movie? He seems so out of character. The acting overall is lame, the plot is empty, the things that happen make no sense, especially ending up on the boat with the kids. That part just didn't even looked as if it belonged in this movie. All in all, one tip: don't watch this. gave it 2 stars cause I've seen even worse than this, but more it sure doesn't deserve.

I give a movie a chance all the way through, before deciding on it..
Had relatable parts but, bottomline 10% was enjoyable.
Won't be something,to watch again.
Although it did have, some decent cast members.
I wasn't too sure about watching this movie, but it was everything I wanted Bad Moms to be...it might have to do with the age of the actresses, the cool 80's teen movie music choices, Jake Ryan references, and Toni Collette. If you were a teen or tween when Pretty in Pink came out, and have kids now, I think you'll appreciate this as the fun film it is.

50 minutes in and nothing has really happened. It's so tame and predictable that I guess the name suits it perfectly. It has 30 minutes left to do something unexpected but I'm not hopeful.
Edit: nothing happened. I'm struggling to understand how the people who starred in it thought it was great script.

Rough Night" is still in Estonian cinemas, but here's the new one- night-adventure for girls that actually deserves your time – provided you're into mainstream American comedies, of course. Here we have a motley crue of seasoned entertainers, including always solid Toni Collette, Kate Aselton, Bridget Everett, Molly Shannon, Adam Scott, Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Rob Huebel, Paul Rudd, Paul Rust et al. The movie is not perfect, but it's much livelier and better than Rough Night", which does not come as a surprise because, in my humble opinion, the Scarlett Johansson starrer doesn't do anything right. The screenplay is actually rather mediocre, but there's enough breathing room for characters and relationships of which there are surprisingly many. It allows the able cast to build and sustain a proper mood and energy to keep us interested enough to follow events and jokes which, by themselves, are quite generic, not to say clichéd. But compared to Rough Night", it plays out almost like a character piece. In addition to the four women having a wild night out we have several important male characters, such as those played by Levine, Rudd and Scott, which are all more symphatetic and/or interesting than the female ones. This is to be expected, probably, considering the general tone and intended audience. Fun Mom Night" is ruled by women behind the camera, too. It is directed by former shorts and TV director Alethea Jones (this is her first cinema outing) and written by, er, Paul Rudd's wife Julie Rudd. Which explains including Paul. Not that it's any different from most of his other movies. I have several things to say about the main characters and their lifestyle choices, but there's no point. It is, after all, just a genre movie looking for some audience. And irritating some viewers is part of the business here. The movie is quite good at what it does, and you could say that actors are able to give it more heart than in many mainstream comedies, but you still will not remember much of it in the morning.

As a Gen-X mom, which is clearly the target audience, I wanted to like it. But the overly done millennial obsession with drugs wrecked the entire thing. Seriously wanted to like it but ugh! Just missed the mark. Sorry, try again.
Just realize what bothered me the most about this movie. Thee women are in the late 49s, early 50s. WAY too old to be moms of preschoolers. Grandmothers maybe..... course you can't find a funny cast in the early to mid 30s, Gen Z has NO sense of humor.

This is a good film for Saturday evening when you don't have anything better to do or you don't know what to do with yourself.
I can not say that it was funny - to me it was not, but it was entertaining and that is what - at the end of the day - I ask of the film. I guess those married with kids may appreciate it more.
The fun fact is seeing Maroon 5 leader in it. The other 4 moms were OK in their roles, with the biggest mom being the funniest. The dads were kinda ... too non substentinal.
The scene with kids on the boat was kinda what the hell is going on here? And...when did she lose the phone? I guess they did not know how to make a film of 80 minutes so they added some scenes which can be totally different film.
All in all, it was O.K. My rating is 5,6 (6).
The music was good.

This just wasn't funny, period. I was expecting an outrageous, raunchy, purposely over-the-top comedy. I wasn't expecting anything particularly witty or clever, just ridiculous and FUN, as the title led me to believe.
If this is what you're hoping for, you've been warned.
I maybe half-smiled once or twice...no laughs.
Solid cast with zilch to work with. Bummer.

Listen, if you are a parent, you will love this movie. The characters are REAL! They're just like you! (But they're WAY FUNNIER!)
I laughed often and well and I identified with so much.
The actors are all fantastic (except that guy from Maroon 5 who is just OK.) Bridgett Everett is amazing. Toni Colette is amazing. Rob Huebel is amazing.
Its clever and lovely and the soundtrack is fantastic.
If you don't have kids, or you're born after 1995, you should probably watch something else because you just wont get it.

Surprisingly likable romp with a limited time setting that I just began because I wanting something watchable enough for a little bit but I ended up watching all the way through.
It's very familiar with its party of women in the second epoch of their lives reflecting on life and aging but they don't go into that much depth with it thank goodness. There isn't that much conflict really until they manufacture some toward the end just to make it feel like a movie. They don't really earn the sentimental display of friendships formed with Toni Colette's Ice queen character cracked a bit too easily (she is so much better here than in Hereditary, she is comic actress for sure).
Strangely the most enjoyable parts are the asides with the fathers bonding over pointless conversations. This is one of those movies that really hits home that there is still a firm gender divide with "the moms" going out, doing exercise together, sort of like a class apart from men for some reason. If I were a woman would I be just like them?
Not exactly a gem but it wasn't a bad watch for a Sunday night.

It's a story of four moms who takes a moms night out and does all sorts of things you can't even think about.
The story line is a complete disaster. This is not a normal mom's night out its moreover filthy mom's night out cause of all the filthy talks from the beginning till the end of the movie. This movie can make you sleep just like that. Even acting vise it was really bad. I think we have encountered movies like this before but none of them flopped cause they were able to make a simple script amazing unlike this movie. This movie cannot be included in the genre comedy because there is nothing funny in cracking some filthy jokes which makes you want to vomit.
No I would not recommend this movie foe anyone.
My Rating 0/10

This film tells the story of four mothers, who are not best friends until they go for a dinner together, away from their children and husbands. It has been a long time since they have had fun, and they make full use of their valuable break from domestic duties.
"Fun Mom Dinner" wants to be another "Bad Moms", but I guess it has not worked as magically as planned. The jokes are not that funny, and the characters are not very sympathetic. The two fathers having a heart to heart talk in the backyard is actually more interesting to watch than the mothers who enjoy themselves. I guess the things these mothers do are a bit too ordinary, and not raunchy or outrageous enough for a comedy.

This movie fails across the board. Unfunny jokes, nonsensical story, characters that defy any real world logic..... this movie does not even have a point, even at that level it is a total fail. There are some decent wasted actors in this but I bet they all regret being in this train wreck. Just an awful picture.

Major stinker, Not even good for stupid humor. Only made it 32 min. Did not like any of the characters, and thought Toni Collette was just annoying as F, and a horrible mom
I honestly dont get what warrants a 5.1. i was honestly surprised , so I just had to leave a review. NO, its another thoughtless comedy. The four leads carry the movie very steadily, Toni Colletes genuine 'fun mom' transformation struck me as genuine. The situations they landed in were unpredictable but put together just fine. Adam Levines cameo was a highlight. The Dad moments were touching too and overall the movie ended with a fuzzy feeling

Initially I must admit that I had expected a tad more laughs and all together enjoyable moments from the movie. That being said, don't get me wrong, I am not starting out by saying that "Fun Mom Dinner" is a bad movie. It just didn't fully live up to my expectations.
Yes, the movie was fun. Sure, it was. But it just wasn't fun enough to make you want to watch the movie a second time around. There were some genuinely funny situations to be experienced throughout the course of the movie, I will say that much. And that definitely counted in favor of the movie.
However, the storyline and plot told in "Fun Mom Dinner" just felt somewhat rushed and forced, which unfortunately meant that it gave way to some of the enjoyment of the movie.
The acting in the movie was good, and they had found some good actresses to perform as the leading roles, each bringing something unique to their movie and to their respective characters.
While "Fun Mom Dinner" is watchable, it is not as good as the "Bad Moms" movie was.

I went into this expecting it to be a "Hell in a handbasket" film--those have intentionally simple set-ups, with usually (darkly) comedic plots propelled by events gradually spiraling more and more out of control until characters have a complete disaster on their hands.
That's not what this is, though. This is more of a quaint, somewhat chick-flicky buddy film. They seemed to be shooting for a middle-age-yuppie-parents-oriented John Hughes style flick, a la the Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, 16 Candles, etc. It doesn't take much imagination to realize this. Characters regularly reference 16 Candles.
I found a few scenes laugh-out-loud funny, but that's not necessarily what they were shooting for here anyway. They're just as often trying to be poignant or simply "cute"--the latter most consistently hitting its target.
Unfortunately, overall, Fun Mom Dinner winds up falling a bit flat, unable to sustain or even build any significant momentum. It too often displays the relative laziness of its title. It's a short film, but some scenes drag--the marijuana dispensary bit is one of the worst offenders.
I wouldn't say it's not worth watching, but lower your expectations--bury the bar in the ground after all. If you approach it as a sketchy, cute dramedy, though one with a character or two who can be on the annoying side as often as not, it has some assets.

I'm quite disappointed with Toni Collett for appearing in this totally unfunny movie. Does anyone need to know about the Foursome's sex life in all in perversion. It was a miracle I didn't lose my dinner having to look at that obese mountain of lard. When the actress playing Melissa dies, there will panic on the Tallow Futures Market.

Really liked this movie. Its just fun and cute, nice humor. All the time watching I was smiling. I think the creators didn't even want it to be "realistic", its a comedy and a comedy makes you laugh/smile - I like that. So for those looking for something silly and sweet - this is a go.
