To say Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” is a hit is a gross understatement. Not only did the film wow critics, with a great 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, but the comedy has connected with the general public in a massive way, earning a huge $162 million in its first three days. But that doesn’t mean everyone loved it. As with most everything in today’s culture, there are folks who enjoy something and then others who make it their mission to destroy that same thing.

Exactly how much bigger can reggaeton get? This is a perpetually grating question that’s followed the genre around as it’s skyrocketed to the very center of the mainstream over the last few years and become one of the most omnipresent sounds on the planet. To naysayers, the music represents an annoyingly large bubble that’ll pop and fizzle out any day now, while fans and artists are hell-bent on proving that there’s limitless space for it to keep growing. Unfortunately, certain acts — driven by the popularity, profitability,...

There are not enough words in either the English or Spanish language to express the magic that is Bad Bunny's latest album "Un Verano Sin Ti." We all had high expectations for the highly-anticipated fourth solo album, which was released on Friday, May 6, and was accompanied by the music video for one of the album's tracks titled "Moscow Mule." But while we may have already been expecting the best, Benito has a way of still blowing our minds with his creative genius. If you haven't listened to the album, be prepared to have it on loop for days - I know I will.
One of the things that sets Bad Bunny apart from some of the other reggaeton artists of today is his ability to experiment with other genres and sounds. His two albums "X 100 Pre" and "Oasis" spoke to his signature Latin Trap style.

Welcome to this week’s review of Aew: Dark which was, apparently, filmed at the same time as Battle of the Belts 2 (the commentary table and ring barriers had the Botb apron on it!). We’ve got a smaller 6-match card but one that features some bigger talent – which is apt given we’ve got a live paying audience and not the usual Universal crowd. Let’s get into the review!
Match #1: Red Velvet def. Dulce Tormenta
My Thoughts: Red Velvet is fully embracing her new “baddie” persona, which is probably for the best as her babyface persona was running out of steam – as heard in her Owen Hart qualifying match the other week. Here she takes a more determined, more vicious stance against Dulce Tormenta. Though Tormenta didn’t take it lying down, offering up some great offence. But like most of these “enhancement” talent matches, despite the...

Sneak Peek images of "Aquaman" actress Amber Heard in "Glamour" (US) magazine, photographed by Jason Kibbler:
"My name is 'Mera'," said Heard about her fishy role in director James Wan's "Aquaman". "You have to maintain a vigorous imagination while being suspended 25 feet in the air, acting with very little around you that resembles the world that will be depicted when it comes out...
"I would audition for everything, from 'Hot Girl Number 3' at 'Party' to 'Daughter Leaving for College'. I would go around, a lot of times by city bus. I'd sit toward the back and change underneath my jacket.
"I've done the best I could without the luxury of being picky. There's an implicit apology expected of me for my participation in feminine beauty, but I can't play into this false narrative that my sexuality is mutually exclusive from my power. Spoler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “What’s for Dinner?,” the April 1 episode of “Severance.”
Heading into its Season 1 finale next week, Apple’s “Severance” has finally answered at least one very burning question for fans: What the heck is a Waffle Party? On Friday, viewers saw exactly what Lumon Industries’ severed workers get as part of that top-tier reward through the experience of Mdr employee Dylan (Zach Cherry). Well, not all of it, because Dylan actually high-tails it out of the Waffle Party prematurely in order to flip the control room switch that will help his coworkers Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower) and Irving (John Turturro) in their plan to “wake up” as their Innie in the real world. By doing that, they hope to find someone who will believe them, and save them all from Lumon.

Nicolas Cage is doing just fine.
The energetic actor, movie star, and meme muse is coming off one of the most lauded performances of his career in Michael Sarnoski’s Pig. He’s by all appearances a healthy and thriving 58-year-old man with nothing but sunny days to look forward to. And yet, his latest and most distinctly Cage-ian film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, operates as a sort of midpoint career eulogy.
This ambitious action-comedy, which just debuted at SXSW, casts Nicolas Cage in his boldest role yet: himself. Sort of. The Nicolas Cage of Tom Gormican’s film is an actor in crisis. Spider-Man has a couple of major milestones coming up. This year marks the 60 year anniversary of Spider-Man’s first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15. We’re also getting a new volume of Amazing Spider-Man with a brand new first issue by Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr. Marvel is also celebrating the upcoming 900th issue of the long-running comic with Wells working with Ed McGuinness.
Wells’ big Spidey run is coming up this April and it comes with a big question: “What did Spider-Man do?”
While John Romita, Jr. is one of the Spider-Man artists, Zeb Wells also has had a big hand in the wallcrawler’s history. He wrote for the underrated Avenging Spider-Man series, gave us one of the best Lizard comics ever in the “Shed” storyline, brought back Carnage from being torn in half by the Sentry in space, had Spider-Man team up with Barack Obama, as well as many other stories.

Maddy’s Birthday Party In Season 2 Episode 4, “You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can,” Suze pulled a Mrs. George. 1958. American actor Robert Taylor with Cyd Charisse on the set of Party Girl, a film by Nicholas Ray.
Cyd Charisse in Nicholas Ray’s Party Girl (1958) will be available on Blu-ray November 30th from Warner Archive
When maverick director Nicholas Ray turns his talents to a gangster movie, a familiar genre becomes startling and new. Under the auspices of long-time M-g-m musical producer Joe Pasternak, and with the added gloss of the CinemaScope widescreen and Metrocolor, the auteur created a cult classic. Set in 1930s Chicago, Party Girl follows a bum-legged mouthpiece for the mob (Robert Taylor) and a gorgeous, wised-up vamp (Cyd Charisse) who fall in love, try to go straight… and head straight for trouble. Ray deepens the drama and heightens the violence with filmmaking artistry that has given Party Girl cult status: a screen painted in sinister ebony and blood red,...

Parallel cinema cuts loose from the musicality of Bollywood and the common perception of Indian cinema at large. Coming out of West Bengal in the 1950s, parallel cinema appeared as an alternative to the glamour and dance; socially conscious and experimental in style and mood, it maps the origins of art cinema in India, and for the first time, the rest of the world was looking at India as an innovator of film language (Satyajit Ray’s 1955 train sequence Pather Panchali is one of the most celebrated in film history). In this movement, which followed in the wake of Italian neorealism, life's diegetics became the soundtrack, real life movement over set up musical numbers. This mix traces some choice moments in Parallel Cinema’s sound. Many songs and soundtracks from this period have a lofi quality to them—due in part to the quality of audio recording equipment throughout the years of the movement,...

This review contains spoilers for Marvel’s What If…? episode 7.
In episode 7 of Marvel’s What If…?, ‘What If… Thor Were an Only Child?’, we get to find out what would have happened if Odin had decided to return the wee babby Loki to his Frost Giant family instead of keeping him, and Thor had grown up believing he was an only child. I’m phrasing it that way because, y’know, Hela still exists. Lest we forget her majesty.
It’s a fun, fluffy episode that ends with a terrific cliffhanger that seems to set up the finale of this consistently entertaining animated series, and gives us plenty to talk about until it arrives. I’m sure they’ll find a way to kill Tony Stark at least one more time before it does.

Last year, the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted Primetime Emmys was the first major awards show to pull off a ceremony during the pandemic with all nominees featured remotely. This year, only “a handful” of the nominees will be beamed into the show via satellite, said Ian Stewart who, along with Reginald Hudlin, executive produced the well received virtual 2020 Emmys on ABC and also executive produce the 2021 awards on CBS, which will be held Sunday in an air-conditioned tent on The Event Deck at L.A. Live with limited, vaccinated audience sitting at dinner tables.
Hosting the Emmys this year is Cedric the Entertainer, star of CBS’ comedy series The Neighborhood. “He has extraordinary versatility — whether it’s comedy, whether it’s music, whether its drama, he can do it all,” Hudlin said. “What we want to do across the show is to feature his full range of talents.”
That will start right away.

Don’t know if you’ve heard but Netflix is doing pretty well with their local language releases. Now, with its list of new releases for September 2021, Netflix is leading with one of its biggest international hits.
Season 5 of the worldwide smash Money Heist is set to premiere its first half on Sept. 3. This Spanish series (called La Casa de Papel in its native tongue) about a group of geographically-named thieves found new life on Netflix to become a global phenomenon. Other international series of note this month include Sex Education and Jaguar.
Netflix’s roster of originals in September 2021 is pretty packed even beyond that. The final season of Lucifer premieres on Sept. 10. That will be followed by He-Man and the Masters of the Universe on Sept. 16 (not to be confused with Masters of the Universe: Revelation) and Mike Flanagan’s next horror series, Midnight Mass, on Sept. 24.

Exclusive: New Line’s reimagination of its 1990 cult classic House Party for HBO Max is restarting production Monday night after closing down briefly last week out of caution for a positive Covid case on the set.
The County of Los Angeles Public Health reported that there were nine positive cases of Covid on House Party, but Deadline has learned that most of those were for people who never arrived to set — largely extras who were tested during pre-employment. While there was not a great need to shut down production on the feature from award-winning music video director Calmatic, given how it was only one staffer affected, the House Party production did so anyway out of an abundance of caution. We hear that the House Party crew and talent have already been tested, with no positive cases, and can safely proceed to set.

Welcome to this weeks review of Aew: Dark which is keeping things short and sweet with only 7 matches running less than 45 minutes… I’m starting to dig Aew putting how manty matches are on the card in the YouTube title of each episode these days!
Match #1: The Blade def. Ryan Mantell
My Thoughts: Basically a showcase for Blade before his match with Orange Cassidy on Dynamite, this was a squash match with not only The Blade demolishing his opponent but The Bunny got up to some devious tricks too!
My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Thunder Rosa def. KiLynn King
My Thoughts: Two of my favourite Aew female wreslters going head to menas that its going to be hard to decide who to root for in this match! King thankfully goit a nice, if smaller than Thunder Rosa’s, pop from the crowd and played up to the crowds...

Welcome to Nerdly, I’m Phil and this is a review of this week’s Aew Dark: Elevation, the eighteenth episode of Aew’s “developmental” brand which – this week – has been stacked with matches featuring some of Aew’s biggest names. So much for developmental!
Match #1: Thunder Rosa def. Dreamgirl Ellie
My Thoughts: Thunder Rosa gave Dreamgirl Ellie a lot of leeway in this match, reverting back to her standard “let your opponent put in the work and showcase themselves before squashing them” routine after the past few weeks doing traditional squash matches.
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Matt Hardy def. Fuego Del Sol
My Thoughts: I can’t believe I have to give a Matt Hardy match a decent score. But I do. Why? Because Guego Del Sol matches get top-ranking scores all the time here on Nerdly. Am I biased? Yes. But I absolutely love Fuego…...

If you want to understand the present, then we got to take you back to the past.
Animal Kingdom returns Sunday, July 11, at 9/8c on TNT with a highly-anticipated fifth season that we've waited the better part of two years to see.
Given how long ago it was before we spent some quality time with the Codys, leading up to the premiere, it's only fair that we catch you up with everything that has transpired over the years.
If you aren't one to watch Animal Kingdom online via a binge, then this four-minute or less recap should give you all the highlights to freshen your memory.
And unsurprisingly, it's the now eldest Cody, Pope, who we hear, seemingly speaking to a therapist (?!?!) about some things and giving her his edited version of what's happened to him and his family over the years.
Whatever is going on, Pope is at a hospital,...
