Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson get their first case since Watson returns from holiday. Violet Smith, a piano teacher, has entrusted her story between them. She is being followed every day from Farnham Manor by a man in a balaclava. Not only is she being followed, but also receiving notes that do not contain writing, instead they are drawing of stick dancing men. Who is following her? Who is sending her notes? Why is her life in danger?

Sherlock Holmes is alone after his friend and colleague, Dr John Watson was kidnapped from outside his home. Mycroft (Sherlock's brother) suggests he takes on a new case to take Watson's disappearance off his mind. Travelling to the city of York in Yorkshire, Sherlock, accompanied by Inspector Lestrade begins a new case. Neville St Clair went into town to buy Lego bricks for his children. His wife soon after traveled into town to pick up a parcel from the post office. Returning to her car she saw her husband looking out from a building window. Confused as to why her husband was there she entered the building with Inspector Lestrade to find her husband gone with only the Lego bricks to prove he was there. Since then, Neville St Clair has not been seen since. Vanished. Where is he? Murdered? On the run?

Sherlock Holmes hears news whilst in Paris that his brother, Mycroft has set him up with a temporary guest (Inspector Forbes) who will be staying with him at his residence of 221B Baker Street. Meanwhile, Sherlock has a new case. A woman, Maria Gibson was found murdered on a bridge in Thor Village. Shot dead. Grace Dunbar is being accused of her murder since a gun with one discharged bullet was found in her wardrobe and also because she was the last person to see Maria alive. Sherlock, accompanied by Inspector Forbes, investigates.
