For being a Marine that knows how to use guns Jake Carter apparently suffers from the "A-Team TV Series" syndrome. Bullets fly everywhere and, and, and, what for it.....meh! I guess Jake got tossed for not being able to hit the broad side of Pikes Peak.

Being a former USAF member and trained in certain hand to hand combat, this film lacks a lot in belief. Yes, we as the audience know it is fiction, but there has to be some believability in it's action sequences. The stunts were lacking entirely and the fight scenes demonstrated bad format in my opinion. WWE as a conglomarte has the resources and funding to put more effort into their films. Mike Mizanin has lead the charge of the marine franchise for 3 films and they do not get much better. In this film the WWE enlisted the help of Maryse Mizanin, who subsequently had 2 minutes before her character died, Naomi who did nothing for the film, Bo Dallas, Heath Slater and Curtis Axel. This film certainly did not impress me in the least.

"I'm sorry I called you down here. I'm sorry any of this happened. I was just trying to protect my daughter." Jake Carter (Mizanin) is adjusting to life outside the Marines and is working as an EMT. When him and his partner go to check out a call they find something much more than just a man in health trouble. This is a movie that gives you what you want, and doesn't try to be more than it is. This is a very good 15 minute story idea that is drug out into a full length movie. The moral and character issues the movie deals with are kind of glossed over, but that isn't that surprising in a movie like this. The movie is full of action that tries to have an important and meaningful story but ends up being a little cheesy and makes you wonder why they are helping this person. All that being said, no one watches those movies for the story and plot so if you are looking for an exciting action movie this is one for you. Overall, exactly what you are expecting. Nothing more, nothing less. I give this a B-.

After watching so many blockbuster CGI action movie i'm feel a little tired and want to watch something totally dumb fun straight out of the old action movie day from the 80s and 90s then The Marine 5 Battleground is the perfect choice for me and anyone had the same idea.Directed by James Nunn who previously work with Scott Adkins in Eliminators had deliver a very fun trashy action movie with Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin as an ex super bad ass marine turned medic support get caught in a bloody situation involving a violent biker gang. The plot is genetic, the performance is laughable and stupid moment keep happen during the movie with extremely annoying character but if you can shut down your brain for a minute and let your inner little kid come out this movie will entertain you from start to finish. The shoot out is fun,the hand to hand combat is well choreographed with some genuine intense and suspense moment create by the isolation environment that surprise the hell out of me with this kind of movie

Generic action scenes, poor acting and weak one liners. But it is a WWE production so I kind of anticipated it. It's basically a Great Value brand equivalent of an action movie

This movie is fun. The acting is ok and the story is fine. It's what it is, a straight to DVD action movie

Meh this movie is very average, i thought this was eh movie wasn't good as another 4 Marine movies you don't need to watch them in order they don't explain anything from another marine movies so you don't need to. i thought this dumb writing, made Miz look like loser in film he is not a hero he tries to save but they got killed for no reason what so ever i hated movie way how the let Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin character a BIG LETDOWN, i thought the writers like let him down a lot his hand to hand combat was eh he got his ass kicked by villain like chessy ending. action was ok it was fun he doesn't have higher body count in this movie at all nothing like marine 3 and 4. now i liked all 4 Marine movies this no this is huge letdown. i thought story is sloppy i love to use the word very sloppy. i thought they wasted everyone characters i am like why do you have all wrestlers like Maryse Mizanin eh only for 30 seconds Mike saves her then she dies i am like is this trying to be like ER series already or is this marine ?? could not have Maryse Mizanin as character put her as part of movie that's it but no kill her off only for 30 seconds forget it. everyone is a wrestler WWE like (Heath Miller) cash, Murphy
(Trinity Fatu), Alonzo (Taylor Rotunda AKA Bo Dallas). you have some another actors as well i don't understand he is EMT paramedic when he is not a marine ?? he was marine but why medic for ?? i mean i liked when he was a bodyguard
in marine 4 now in this medic ? really ? i don't know how is this called MARINE might have to call it ER mixed with Action to it. i thought character in this let him down made like hero but let Miz huge let down. story follows Cole (Nathan Mitchell) and another guy in car shot one of bikers member made a bikers have their revenge cole is getting chased by them hiding in Carnival carpark area. While Jake carter (Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin) working as an EMT back stateside Jake after responding to a distress call, finds himself caught up protecting a person of interest from a biker gang ruthlessly hunting them down. mostly takes in carpark but ending moves on to Carnival to some building area. kinda like die hard in carpark then eh moves on to carnival then to somewhere else. Zoe Williams (Anna Van Hooft) known for Warcraft. she is wasted for no reason at all. EMT medics heard in radio in carpark area to carnival carpark building, they found cole wounded they can't get to hospital because then bikers are looking for cole and they can't get back to van to escape so jake and zoe, cole are trapped and struck in carpark tunnel we find out later that cell phones don't work. i thought action is OK wasn't best or brutal like another marine movies. i thought bikers is eh i seen better villains as biker gangs they were nothing special as characters. i thought twist is bit silly of story. after carpark tunnel its at carnival like if it was trash Beverly Hills Cop III, and action wasn't special watch 4 previous marine movies avoid this let down it's huge one. Jake Carter adjusting to life outside the Marines and is working as an EMT. When Jake and zoe go to check out a call they find something much more than just Cole in health trouble. you expect of course to go out of his way to save lives like Ana but wasted her for nothing and his partner as well zoe. So even though I would personally disagree with attempting to save the life cole is a gangbanger who's killed another man just before he needed assistance (after members of the other gang went after him), you would understand if he did it when doing so didn't risk anyone else's life. But he and his female colleague walk into this dark theme park without notifying anyone first that they're heading out on foot - and when he's located the cole AKA gangbanger and the guy has even fired his gun at him, he makes it his personal mission to get the guy out of there, even though the other gang shows up. And in the process. i thought this movie sucked, action was fun it was their like die hard style in carpark building to carnival this movie did suck so many ways. i expect Jake to save lives not let him down not to save woman witch he rescued then she dies ??? i thought that was stupid but he is saving gangbanger cole ? i am like really saving person would be like saving a woman or girl but no he is producting a gangbanger ? James Nunn AKA James None who did Scott Adkins films like Green Street 3: Never Back Down, Eliminators witch i thought they were OK not great now James Nunn aka is doing Marine films. i thought this was huge let down movie, Mike Miz character let him down so badly it was huge letdown. the hand-to-hand combat sequences are pretty bad done, nothing like Marine 4 moving target.
3.10 just for action that's it i thought this was average film not worth it at all nothing is worth to watch this piece of crap movie, witch will letdown Mike Miz fans, people who like movies without story i have no problem with that i like watching movies without story lines in it. you don't need to watch marine movies in order sadly this is letdown he doesn't save any lives he doesn't know how to be a EMT Medic for reason he is not saving anyone lives expect for gangbanger cole sadly i thought he was nothing special character he could of died in movie no point having him in it.
looking forward to see The Marine 6: Close Quarters i hope that will kick the crap out of Marine 5.

Don't be put off by the '5' in the title. Whilst I am aware of The Marine series of films, this fifth installment is actually the first of the franchise films that I have seen, and whilst Jake Carter (played by Michael "The Miz" Mizanin ) also appears in parts 3 and 4, there is no need to have seen those films in order to get full enjoyment out of this crazy action packed film that could so easily be described as Sons of Anarchy meets The Warriors, with a dashing or five of the Die Hard films, all stirred up and given the slick work over that James Nunn brings to his films of late. I was a huge fan of his previous film Eliminators (starring Scott Adkins) and hoped that this film would be just as much enjoyment as that film, and I wasn't let down. The film is non stop entertainment from start to end.
Even with the fact that most of the film is set in an underground car park not, this doesn't lessen the films enjoyment with some OTT villains, more bullets than a Rambo film (well maybe more more bullets than the 4th Rambo film, but thats a hard one to beat) , some great motorbike action, and some great fight sequences that you will expect from a WWE film. Also on the 'it needs to happen if its a WWE studios film' are some great supporting roles for other wrestling talents, such as Trinity Fatu, Maryse Mizanin,Heath Miller, Joe Hennig, and Taylor Rottunda all chewing the scenery with one thing in mind. Giving the audience the best show possible, and they do that wonderfully.
I've seen some so called reviews that comment about some of aspects of The Marine 5:Battleground being far fetched but that's what I want from a film like this. I want fun, I want snappy dialogue that wouldn't be a stranger in an 80s Schwarzenegger film, I want kick ass women, bullet casings to fly all over the place, great fight scenes, and in the end I want to to be entertained. and Mr James Nunn has done it again with The Marine 5:Battleground. Now can someone please greenlight a new installment of The Purge franchise or a new Fast and Furious entry and let James Nunn work his magic.

Meet Jake (The Miz) an ex-marine who now works as a surgeon in an ambulance with his colleague, Zoe (Anna Van Hooft) and on his first shift they get a 911 call from an abandoned car park in an out of season amusement fair. When they go to investigate they find a man, Cole (Nathan Mitchell) whose been shot by a biker gang and the worst thing is the biker gang is still after him. It's now up to Jake, Zoe and Cole to fight their way out of the car park.
I enjoyed the hand to hand and knife fight scenes in this film because they are intense, realistic and a little bit gory. The shooting scenes I enjoyed not so much, they seemed intense at first but after a while I got a bit annoyed with how much Jake and the bikers failed shoot their targets, especially after Jake says, I know how to use guns because I used to be a marine and towards the end they seemed a bit repetitive. I also think that seem as this film involves a biker gang I would have liked to have seen at least one or two motorbike chases or stunts.
I also think that the beginning of the film could have been shortened or changed a bit, because there's this scene at the beginning where Jake has to rescue a woman that's trapped in a car and we soon find out this rescue has nothing to do with the rest of the film.
Overall though I had enjoyed this film and I probably would buy it on DVD.

If your looking for an action packed exciting movie, ignore this one, it's so cheesy it's laughable.
Ex marine (Mike "The Miz" Mizanin) now a paramedic on his first night on call to help a gun shot victim hiding out in a closed amusement park, soon finds himself fighting off a biker charter that are so stupid and idiotic they try to make the Miz look good, which most of the time seems futile as the moron can not act, but then none of this glorious cast cant either. A total snooze fest , might help if you have insomnia though.

This guy Mike Mizanin has to be one of the worst actors I have ever scene. His stunts , not to mention his facial expressions are horrific. Super lousy movie. Waste of time!!
Plot is basic and predictable but the action scenes are good and will hold your attention. If you are a fan of the WWE movies, you will enjoy this one.
The Marine 5 : Battleground is an absolutely crap film. It's nowhere near as good or better than The Marine starring John Cena which is a much more better film. The film The Marine 5 did have a bit of action, but it just wasn't tense or action packed enough and it did lack things in many ways. The Miz's acting as Jake Carter was awful, Bo Dallas was awful as Alonzo and the film was not a film that I enjoyed watching or found enjoyable to watch. They made too many Marine films but the best one was The Marine starring John Cena and Robert Patrick (aka The T1000 from Terminator 2: Judgement Day). That film The Marine is a high powered action packed thriller with tense action, awesome fight scenes and loads more. The Marine 5 is just a lame film that really shouldn't have been done.

Caught this randomly at midnight on a regional tv channel. What you would expect if you don't expect much: Violence, gore, bad lines, clichés, and guns everywhere.
