Season One was fantastical but if you suspended most of your critical faculties, it was entertaining enough and had its own sense of internal logic. There were some twists and turns that kept you on the edge of your seat even though this was as far removed from real life as possible. I mean, the whole thing was completely nonsensical but it was watchable.
Season Two started with a ridiculous premise and got worse. We are asked to believe, at varying times, that neither the French nor the Swiss cops have the ability to establish the whereabouts of a murder suspect's phone at the time of the initial murder and subsequent kidnap. We are shown that the French police, conducting a search for a body, just happen to carry a jerry can of petrol with them. Or that when no plot device could possibly lead the main player to the location of the kidnap victim, well, how about thought transference from afar to say where it is? There's more in this vein but I don't want to get into spoiler territory.
I have two more episodes to go. I've invested so much time already that I shall stick it out to the bitter end but it really will be irksome.
