An American comedy. A story about a down-on-her-luck woman who meets fellow lovable loser and they form an instant connection, but there's just one problem - he is married. The main theme is the complexity of modern relationships and the attempts to muddle through. The story is mainly outlandish situations. What makes it work are the performances which are attractive. The film tends to plod on from one situation to another with some good laughs but without a definite throughline.

Anyone know the song that plays at 15:22 in the movie? I have searched everywhere, using Shazam, Apple Music, googling lyrics
It's worth watching for Fortune Feimster.
The setting is an older section of town in Austin. Our two main characters each own a boutique style small business. Maybe to hopefully revitalize the area. But the greater public interest isn't there to support them.
Delightful characters carry us through their daily lives. An easy watch for light entertainment.

Don't think there was one worthwhile moment until this film. Not funny, not dramatic I question just why it was made.

The level of pessimism in this movie is likely to turn many people off. It basically boils down to a film for people who's lives didn't turn out that great and how that is just life. This viewpoint is helpful for those who are in the situation, but for anyone who does have a good job or relationship it just seems a bit snarky.
It comes down to whether your philosophy is one of live and let live or if you think there is actually a good way to live your life and a bad one. There are some funny scenes and the acting is all pretty decent.
Overall whether or not you like this movie will come down to the tone, if you like the pessimistic but accepting of the negative outlook that this movie has it isn't half bad, although the ending might put off those people who are fans of real life situations where nothing is resolved.

Funny moments but none of it was believable, I'm sure everyone involved is pretty embarrassed they were a part of this.

I thought that I am watching TV show, and tried to find second episode after i finished it... I love acters, love idea, love everything, but there is no big plots and the whole movie is really to short, because of putely written story it's a 6.
The main character , Zoe, is, literally, a generic version of Zoe Deschanel. Like the director couldn't get Zoey Deschanel so decided to go with the dupe version.
The overall actinng of cast was cringe worthy and it's a bloody shame to see Josh Radnor, even if with a believable-ish performance, in such a bad movie.
I feel like the positive reviews could only be written by Theresa Bennett herself because that's the only explanation for having any,

A fun indie romantic comedy that's honestly better than your average big budget hollywood romance.

In Austin, Texas, Zoe Crandle (Noël Wells) is a sexually liberated single gal. She's never been in love and not looking to be. Claire (Carly Chaikin) is her BFF. Paul (Josh Radnor) and Jane (Aya Cash) have a family and she wears the pants. She suggests having an affair to save their marriage.
Theresa Bennett seems to be a jack of all trades and this is her first directing work. Noël Wells seems to be a comedic actress who has been rolling around for awhile. I don't know either of them. The directing is functional but it's not the most exciting. Her writing lacks the comedic punch. She tries to be quirky in her sexual forwardness but it doesn't get enough laughs. Her leading lady Wells needs more charisma and her character is not always appealing. She is often outshined by the other actors. I do recognize a lot of the other actors from various TV shows and they do fine work. Chaikin may be a bit young but her personality fits the lead much better. The other major female character is played by Cash who blows up the screen time and time again. She's the most interesting side of the love triangle. The chemistry is off since Wells is rather flat in an interesting role. Something is not working here.

It's a bit dark, it's def. 15+ But it's also: life. Failing, friends, dating, falling in love, the social pressure.
Not for everyone but very enjoyable.
Also: nice score!
You will not regret these 80min.

'Social Animals' is not just another dram-com, it rises above all other similar films because of its amazing cast, witty dialogue and amazingly colorful cinematography. Its so refreshing to have a female lead who isn't a one note paper doll, this character has depth and charm and isn't afraid to be unlikable. Not only does this movie succeed in it's dramatic beats, its also succeeds in being hilariously funny! There is an oral sex work shop taught by Fortune Feimster! I literally rolled on the floor laughing! Don't miss this hilarious yet poignant film!!!
If Cameron Crowe and Amy Heckerlings 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' is a love letter to teens in the 80's, then 'Social Animals' is a love letter for 30 year old hipsters in 2018. It smashes the 'manic pixie dreamgirl' persona wide open by creating a female main character that is fully realized and is not just a prop for a "straight man" to realizes he needs to let loose. It has an amazing ensemble cast (it's literally a who's who of all best TV people from all your fave shows), great snappy dialogue, awesome music, and the city of Austin has never looked more beautiful on screen. If you're anything like me, you're gonna wanna watch this movie multiple times, so don't rent it....BUY IT!

This movie gave me all the feels! Theresa Bennett humorously delivers the plight of being a young woman navigating love, career and relationships in Trump's America. While she tackles serious yet relatable issues she still manages to bring the laughs and keep you wanting more. Her characters are multi dimensional and certainly reminded me of myself and best friends growing up. This writer/director brings the goods! A must see!

A good Romcom, both Aya Cash and Noel Wells acted well but Aya was really good ! I Would say if you are looking for a movie which is slightly slow and a Romcom you should watch it . I watched enough action movies so wanted to try something else and I suddenly found this . Good one!

Theresa Bennett speaks on behalf of all us misanthropic millennial's who are just trying to figure out what the fuck we're doing with our lives and what happy looks like. She unapologetically peppers in her own experiences to lend the vulnerability we've come to expect from her writing. As much as I love her dialogue and story-telling, it's her directorial debut that really shines here, creating an intimacy between audience and characters that feels as close as two long-time friends swapping weekend-recaps over Sunday brunch.
