I watched this movie last night with some Maltese friends who had downloaded it and were keen to see a movie from their homeland.
Today I logged on here to see the reviews. Two reviews, both giving 10 stars!! Judging by the names of the people giving these reviews, it is clear there was some national pride at play.
The basic premise was a good idea, some (but only some) of the acting performances were good. But it was overall a very poor movie. And while I say the basic premise was good, about 2/3 of the way through the film the plot went missing and never really came back. Then in the last 10 minutes a minor character reveals he has testicular cancer and then the whole movie suddenly focuses on him. All very weird. And the priest, and the cocaine, and the yobbos who kept coming around and starting fights... so many distractions to the story that were not only needless but also very confusing.
My Maltese mates were suitably embarrassed. Two of them left the room half way through. When they came back at the end and asked how it finished, none of us knew what to say.
There is a reason this film never made it to the big screen.
