Breaking into an apartment dressed as a cable TV technician Ta-Yeh comes face to face with the resident whom he recognizes as childhood schoolmate Wan-Ni, aka Grace. Ta-Yeh creates opportunities to "accidentally" run into Wan-Ni and befriends her anew. Grace was the only one who was kind to young neglected Ta-Yeh and shared her lunch with him in primary school until she moved away. Formerly an aspiring dancer, Grace lost the use of her legs in an accident and has been dejected and reclusive. Ta-Yeh is on a mission to make Grace happy again. He believes that if Grace is doing well, he will do well too.

High school senior Cheng Hsiang is dealing with raging teen hormones and hints of Asperger's syndrome. Each day his bus passes by a betel nut stand tended by Ko-Hsuan who dresses like a sexy manga girl to attract customers. Disturbed by the sight of the betel nuts, he approaches Ko-Hsuan and forces her to accept an English textbook. His family's hopes for him are high and they want him to focus on studying. Cheng Hsiang and Ko-Hsuan meet for dates at the library and he is surprised by her toned down everyday look. Cheng Hsiang confesses his love for K-Hsuan at an outing with his schoolmates. Ko-Hsuan dropped out of school to work and doesn't feel worthy of being with Cheng Hsiang whose brilliance promises a bright future. Afraid of holding Cheng Hsiang back, Ko-Hsuan disappears. Buoyed by having been loved by Cheng Hsiang, Ko-Hsuan is ready to love herself. She begins studying English to improve herself.

Mei-Ying is an live-streamer with over 100,000 viewers. Made up like a sexy manga girl, she gets donations online by doing small favors like wishing people good luck and singing songs for her mostly male viewers. Offscreen her life is a mess. She is the only caregiver of her mother who suffers from dementia and acts like a child. Her mother's condition makes it impossible for Mei-Ying to hold a real job. Her boyfriend can no longer stand the situation. One day Mei-Ying forgets to lock the door and her mother wanders off. Mei-Ying receives a call that her mother is on Green Island, where she was taken in by kind Ah-Tsan, a lighthouse keeper. Following her there, Mei-Ying finally gets out of her caged life. During their brief stay, they go in the sea, breathe clean air, and behold the stars in the night sky. (Ironically, Green Island was where political prisoners were jailed during Martial Law.) Mei-Ying and Ah-Tsan become close. Unlike the others, Ah-Tsan has no requests for Mei-Ying except for her to be happy.

Chih-Sheng's father has purchased an expensive painting that Chung-Hsiu was asked to assess. After thorough examination concludes that it was not the work of a famous painter. Chih-Sheng is smitten. Chung-Hsiu wanders into where Chih-Sheng works, but doesn't remember him. They meet over and over, but for Chung-Hsiu it's always like meeting for the first time. Chih-Sheng learns more about Chung-Hsiu. Chih-Sheng becomes Chung-Hsiu's memory aid. She wants to remember him and decides to film him on her phone and asks him to describe himself. One day Chih-Sheng finds out Chung-Hsiu has been taken to the US by her family. Years later, Chih-Sheng is working at the same museum, he hears a recording and notices a visitor in a wheelchair. Chung-Hsiu is holding a phone playing the video of Chih-Sheng. Chung-Hsiu is no longer the same.
