- Narrator: Tellius - The year 648 - Early summer The northeastern nation of Daein lost a bloody war with neighboring Crimea three years ago. Crimea, however, abdicated its right to rule Daein and passed sovereignty of its former enemy to the powerful Begnion Empire. Daein's future is now subject to the whims of the empire. Begnion's occupation forces have gathered all Daein men of fighting age and put them to work in labor camps. Their work is brutal and void of purpose, designed to break both body and spirit. The remaining population faces poverty and starvation as the fields lie fallow. A band of young heroes has escaped the Begnion army to form a group called the Dawn Brigade. Fighting for a free Daein, they alone have stood against Begnion's forces. They alone have shouldered the hopes of their nation. Among the company is a young girl named Micaiah, who is said to possess mystical powers. The people of Daein have come to know her as the "Silver-Haired Maiden." They have come to think of her as the savior for whom they had been waiting. Begnion's forces have tried time and again to capture and silence the Dawn Brigade. However, Micaiah's ability to sense impending danger has thus far allowed the Dawn Brigade to evade the empire's grasp.
- Begnion Soldier 1: [3 of the Begnion Soldiers run around the castle ruins and they stop] Find anything?
- Begnion Soldier 2: Not yet sir. No.
- Begnion Soldier 1: Someone's got to be here. Keep looking!
- Begnion Soldier 2: Sir!
- Begnion Soldier 3: We're wasting our time. There's no one here.
- Begnion Soldier 1: I know I heard something.
- [Micaiah hides in the wall]
- Micaiah: Hush Yune! Please don't cry. If they hear you, you'll give us away.
- [the bird chirps and the soldier turns around and looks at the door]
- Begnion Soldier 1: Who's there?
- [Then Yune the bird flies out of the gate and in the night sky. Then the forth soldier runs over to the 3 soldiers]
- Begnion Soldier 4: Is it the Dawn Brigade!
- Begnion Soldier 1: No. It was just a bird.
- [Then one of the soldiers grabbed Micaiahs wrists and she drops her book and the 3 other soldiers run up to her]
- Begnion Soldier 3: Ha ha ha! Thought we didn't see you?
- Begnion Soldier 4: Look. Silver hair.
- Begnion Soldier 2: If it's the fortune teller, we'll be heroes. Without her the Dawn Brigade is nothing.
- Begnion Soldier 3: Oh, the general is going to love this. Bind her.
- Begnion Soldier 2: Sir.
- Begnion Soldier 3: Listen up lass, if you don't want to get hurt, don't struggle.
- [Then Sothe jumps behind the soldier and stabs him]
- Begnion Soldier 2: She's not alone!
- [Sothe punches and kicks the soldiers to the ground, then one of the soldiers blows the warning horn and the soldiers gather around Micaiah and Sothe]
- Sothe: Micaiah.
- Sothe: Sothe.
- Begnion Soldier 4: Got you now!
- Micaiah: Elcarif Magae Teiodasto Leraka.
- [Micaiah casts a spell and the bright light dazzles the soldiers eyes]
- Begnion Soldier 1: Gah! My eyes!
- Sothe: Good job Micaiah. Let's go.
- Micaiah: Right. Yune!
- [Sothe and Micaiah run, Yune the bird flies up to Micaiah]
- Shinon: [Outside of Queen Elincia's castle, a group of villagers gather around to watch a woman named Lucia about to get hanged, meanwhile in the tree Rolf gets ready to fire an arrow while Shinon waits] Come on. Do it. It's a clean shot. What's the problem?
- Rolf: I'm nervous. What if I hit her?
- Shinon: It's too late for nerves, Rolf. If you're not up to it, just leave it to the master, eh? Watch and learn. One clean motion, no hesitation.
- [Shinon then fires an arrow and cuts the rope loose from Lucia and she falls down and Ike runs up and catches her, the villagers gasp in shock as Ike swings his sword at the soldiers knocking them back, then a riot begins and the soldiers attacks Ike's group who ambush them]
- Soldier 1: The queen's men are attacking!
- Soldier 2: Stop him!
- [Then Soren casts a magic spell at the soldiers. Then Mia swings her sword at a soldier]
- Mia: Soren, always lost in your books! What have I said about watching your back?
- Soldier 3: Form up! Surround them all! Don't let a single one escape!
- [Then Titania charges in on her horse swinging her axe at soldiers, Boyd jumps in and swings his axe at the soldiers, Oscar charges in on his horse thrusting his spear at soldiers, Shinon and Rolf shoots arrows at soldiers, Ike and Gatire both fight together]
- Mist: Hold on, Lucia! Everything will be fine! You're safe now. Can you hear me? Hold on!
- [the villagers gather around Mist, Rhys and Lucia. Rhys then holds up his staff and the rod glows]
- Ranulf: [the 2 armies of Soldiers and Laguz gather in great numbers at the battlefield] The van's marching. Halfway across the river already. There's no point in waiting. Oh, well. Enemy'll spot 'em soon.
- Skrimir: Then it's time to fight. You should go.
- Ranulf: Don't remind me. I hate flying. Anyway, give the word, will you?
- [Ranulf runs off with the other Laguz]
- Skrimir: No need. Our friends heard every word.
- [Meanwhile on the mountain Tibarn gets up with his Laguz team]
- Tibarn: Ah. Finally it's time. I've had enough of sitting around. To wing, brothers! Keep up with me if you can!
- [Tibarn then runs off the cliff and dives down, he then transforms into a hawk creature and flies and his men also transforms into hawks and they fly with him. The hawks dive at the soldiers and attacks them, the wild Lynx and Lion beasts pounces at the soldiers while the soldiers fight back with their spears. Zelgius swings his sword at the lion pouncing at him and falls down]
- Soldier 1: My lord?
- Zelgius: It's nothing. I'm needed elsewhere. Keep them engaged until I return.
- Soldier 1: Yes, sir.
- [Zelgius walks off and sees the hawks drop Ranulf and his Laguz men down on the ground as they face Zelgius]
- Ranulf: Well, well... Sorry to drop in unannounced. We thought it best to hunt the strongest prey first.
- Zelgius: Of course. Interesting maneuver.
- Ranulf: Will you draw your blade?
- Zelgius: I trust you know who you face. Zelgius, commander of this army. If you are not worthy of fighting me, then you are only wasting my time.
- Ranulf: I'm Ranulf, right hand to Gallia's future king Will that do?
- [Then Ranulf transforms into a Lynx]
- Zelgius: We shall see. I will accept your challenge. At your ready.
- [Zelgius holds his sword out and Ranulf then runs up to pounce Zelgius as he swings his sword]
- Ike: [Ike runs out of the castle and examines the statues of soldiers and Laguz in the snowfield] What in... What happened? They're statues... Hey! Anyone! Can anyone hear me? Somebody, please! Answer me! Is anyone here?
- Ike: [after Ike defeats the goddess Ashera, Yune as a floating spirit shows up in front of Ike] What of you? Are you leaving?
- Yune: I am. But I believe it's for the best. This world does not need gods. We have always failed you. We've made you weak. That's why we must... go.
- Ike: You don't have to leave.
- Yune: Hm?
- Ike: It's true, we don't have much use for gods. But, well... You show us what we should aspire to. We need inspiration. You give us a reason to grow. To become more than we are. And if we don't have that, Yune, we're nothing more than statues. See?
- Yune: Can you forgive me for the pain I've caused?
- Ike: I don't know. But you have already forgiven us. How could we not? We are all family. We will try to understand one another, even when we disagree.
- Yune: You're right. I will try. One more time.
- [Then Yune's spirit and she transforms back into a bird and flies up out of the window]
- Ike: [after Skrimir fights Ranulf and knocks him down] Ranulf!
- Skrimir: Do not worry about him. I might have broken some bones, but he will heal quickly.
- [Then the screen fades to another scene]
- Skrimir: My soldiers! We are leaving! Head back to base camp!
- Ike: General Skrimir...
- Skrimir: We will return and regroup. It pains me, but we must. Damn it Ranulf... He... got my leg.
- Ike: But you're still willing to carry him?
- Skrimir: If he doesn't rest and heal, all his little chores fall on me. I can't have that.
- Skrimir: How are you feeling?
- Ranulf: It's weird, but... I feel great.
- Skrimir: Mm. Like a weight's been lifted from our shoulders.
- Ranulf: But the battlefield hasn't changed a bit, And yet all the negative energy is gone. How could that be?
- Skrimir: No matter. So long as things on the battlefield go well...
- Ranulf: You're right. But what if... we can end this now?
- Skrimir: What if we could? What then? War is a simple thing. What comes after, that is hard. Diplomacy is a battle that I have never known how to fight. What is it? You think it will rain?
- [Ranulf looks up at the sky]
- Ranulf: No. Not rain...
