This is the Mexican remake of the worldwide hit 'El Gran Hotel' from the Spanish channel Antena3.
[El Hotel de los Secretos] was filmed on location in Mexico at [La Castañeda], building that formerly held a notorious revolutionary-era psychiatric hospital.
The names from the original version (El Gran Hotel) have been changed to appeal to Mexican audiences.
The series was adapted by María René Prudencio from the hit series [Gran Hotel] which aired in Spain from 2011-2013 and subsequently became an international hit, wowing audiences from France to Russia and beyond.
Only the façade of La Castañada was used for the filming location of the telenovela; the rest of the mental institution was demolished. "In 1969 The facade was rescued by Arturo Quintana Arrioja (1920-1986), founder AQ Industrial, who bought the facade of the madhouse and moved stone by stone to a full property in Amecameca, Edo. of Mexico...".
