I don't know why people gave it low ratings. I have only one word to describe this movie and that is MASTERPIECE. Plot, acting, action scenes, screen play, cinematography everything is just perfect. A must watch movie.

Being a Malayali i have always been proud of the way Malayalam film industry prefers realistic portrayals in movies. The main character is not superhuman he or she has flaws he or she is just one among the millions of commoners living together in this society only their story is unique.

This approach has beyond doubt created many legendary movies yet with kali sadly this same approach backfires slightly. The movie begins in a spectacular fashion carries on the initial intensity till the end yet does not provide the movie with a satisfactory ending which is a little sad.

yet this movie is beyond doubt watchable and for most part really intriguing. Every single shot, the background score and everything else is picture perfect. Speaking of performances, both Dulquer and Sai pallavi have provided remarkably strong performances alongside vinayakan and chemban vinod jose (i found vinayakan's initial act a bit rusty) who have given good performances.

A special mention must go to Soubin Sahir (what a find he is!) who provides a remarkably subtle funny performance worth remembering.

All in all kali is well executed film with some minor yet disappointing shortcomings in script towards the end. Yet it definitely is a movie worth watching once.

Kali was again a high hope release coming from DQ and Samir Thahir. Kali is a movie about an incident in the life of a short tempered young guy who gets into trouble due to his anger issues.

DQ plays the lead role and Sai Pallavi is his wife. Due to an outburst by DQ, Sai Pallavi leaves home and the story is what happens after that. Soubin, Vinayakan and Chemban are the other stars in the movie. Vinayakan and Chemban have decent roles and have excelled. Chemban as a truck driver is intimidating.

Another impressive factor about the movie is the background music. It's a big factor in creating the mood for the film. The lead actors have done justice to their roles. I found it entertaining overall, but lacking nuances in the story.

Dulquer and Sai Pallavi are amazing actors but this movie didn't unfold the way we thought so. The movie talks about how one should have control over their actions and anger. Anger can make or break the situation and the movie shows that purely. Overall, it was a fine movie.

The Opening Scene of Hotel leaves an impression through out the first half and your mind starts asking you for its relevance in the movie and few might answer themselves for a possible link in the second half. And the moment the pair goes into the hotel it gets stronger. Overall it is well picturized where emoting anger for petty issues is shown as a problem and it gets as serous as it gets towards the endof the movie and this is so much required to be shown in current age of cinema where anger is misunderstood as attitude and is followed as a fashion. Thanks to movies like kabir singh, Udtha Punjab etc. This movie grows slowly upto first half and you will understand that in the last 25minutes of the movie where how the problem of protagonist leading himself to and how he handles himself and stay cool inspite of circumstances force him unlike his usual instinct of wrongfull use of anger. Sai pallavi and dulqer where very good. Director handled this pretty well. A Must watch if you have loved protagonist with anger issues.

I loved the natural flawless acting of Sai & Dq (As i'm completely done with bollywood actor's over acting). I have no clue why some people rated this movie so low. Its a masterpiece, i came across such a movie after so long.The story build up is really commendable, suspence was top notch too. Its first time ever, that i have appreciated action scenes of a movie, was totally in awe. I guess we should start appreciating such realistic movies while avoiding the overdramatic movie sequences. I believe Its not just a one time watch but an experience to cherish forever for a moviejunkie.Overall great movie, tremendous acting & direction.

Kali is a thriller which makes you tensed, excited and emotional. The film is a story of an angry young man Siddarth(Dulquer Salman) and his wife, Anjali(Sai Pallavi).

The first half shows how loose tempered is Siddarth. He goes insane for smallest of things. Overall, it is decently paced with some comedies and romance of Siddarth and Anjali.

The chemistry of Salman and Pallavi were awesome. They were not acting instead, they lived.

The audience were in loud cheers when Soubin shows up. He made an instant impact with the first dialogue itself. The caliber of PT mash of Premam is second to none.

The film goes to another level from the interval scene. It changes from an entertainer to thriller genre. I can't even explain what was going through my mind but what I can say is, I was a lot tensed and excited to know what to follow.

Each and every scene of the second half will make you thrilled. Chemban Vinod and Vinayakan once again show that Malayalam film industry is in safe hands.

Kudos to Sai Pallavi. She showed that she is not a one time wonder. She acted superbly, sorry she lived. Her performance will make you emotional for sure.

May I know is there anyone who still says Dulquer stays in the industry just because he is the son of the great Mammoty? He improves with each and every film. He delivered a matured and lively performance. I can't say this is his career best but it's right up there as one of the best.

The only negative I felt was climax could have been made a little better. Overall, it is a must watch movie for all.

NB: For me, I enjoyed the film better than 'Maheshinte Prathikaram' and 'Action Hero Biju'.

I had not seen the trailer of this movie, and since I was spoiled by disappointing masala movies of similar style of names, I thought this movie was going to be some kind of masala action movie with no real story. But with in few minutes into this movie, I knew I was totally wrong about my prejudice and I was happy about it.

The story revolves around an incident that happened to the young married couple while on their trip after a huge fight between them. Dulquer plays the role of Sidharth who is really short tempered and has anger management issues. His wife, Anjali, played by Sai Pallavi, tries her best to help him manage his anger. They live pretty good loving life except the occasional little fights between them caused mostly because of Sid's short-temperness. Anyway, one day Sidharth's anger got out of his hand and one thing lead to another, which ended up having Anjali leave to her parents home. I hate to spoil rest of the movie here but I can guarantee it is one of the best and longest most intense sequence in malayalam movie ever.

Many elements of the movie can be related to almost all households. One scene that comes to my mind is when Sidharth asks Anjali drive the car and how her poor driving causes anger. So relatable to me.

All casts and crew of this movie did an excellent job making this movie. Chemban Vinod & Vinayakan deserves mention for their villain characters. Soubin Shahir's character was not only pivotal but also added some humor in the movie. Special appreciation to Rajesh Gopinadhan & Sameer Thahir for the prefect ending of the movie.

I guess the moral of the story would be:

1) Being able to control anger is necessary skill. 2) Driving is an important skill to have in today's world regardless of gender.

Sameer Thahir charmed us last time with his brilliant road film, Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi (2013) which was, although not entirely original, a novel feature in Mollywood. And in 2016 we have another fresh attempt by him which talks about a notorious human feeling through a thriller template.

Siddharth (Salmaan) is a short-tempered young man who lives with his wife Anjali (Pallavi) after being in love since college. Albeit through a cranky start with their respective families and careers, the duo manage to salvage the situation, paving a neat road to a peaceful matrimony. Anjali knows that her good-looking husband has anger issues, but still takes the plunge hoping that he might change. Unfortunately, her hopes are not as audacious as they seem, as everyone finds out the hard way.

Siddharth's anger creates a cavity in the relationship with his wife, which is further aggravated and tested by times as they set out to the latter's parents' place through crooked roads of the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. While the first act shows the slow formation of this cavity and Anjali's harried attempts at maintenance, in the second half, the duo are apprehended, due to an entirely coincidental turn of events, by a group of rowdies. Which the makers want us to believe is due to one of the protagonists' feeling, which is also the central theme of the film: rage.

I could agree that rage created the cavity between them, and that rage, that unflinching, uncontrollable feeling due to things petty, got them apprehended in the second act, but the story arcs that grow themselves out of the main story is purely inconsequential. And the conclusion, which is related to one of these story arcs, makes the whole bunch of grapes a little sour.

The biggest problem, if one hypothesizes, is that there is no solution in sight. But that is not what the makers wanted to convey. What they want to convey is how uncontrollable anger can wreak havoc in one's life and alienate him/her from his/her family and friends, inching ultimately to self-destruction. But hold on, while the story gives you a basic, superficial understanding of what the previous statement means, the conclusion is abrupt and equivocal (of the wrong kind). And when that is sampled with a gaping plot hole, things get murkier.

Dulquer Salmaan and Sai Pallavi are terrific with their respective roles. The chemistry between them also played out gorgeously, which helps the audience empathize with them later in the film. However, Pallavi's weird accent played me off a couple times, despite of the fact that her character is not a Malayali. The supporting cast don't much do anything, except Soubin Shahir, who continues to make us laugh. Chemban Vinod Jose a fairly good job; makes him look like he was cut out for the role.

The camera work is brilliant, and Thahir has worked well with his actors in brining out the best in them. However, Rajesh Gopinadhan should have spent few more days in the writer's room to carve the climax out in a better way. What the film finally closes to is that rage, after all, is necessary. While that is a debatable topic, taking on the offensive with the theme made me and my sister turn our heads and shrug.

Having said that, it is a palatable film which never bores. The drama and action are top-notch. Special mention to the thirty minutes post interval for really keeping the audience on the edge. Ignore the songs and the hypothesis, and you will enjoy this feature that is free from the usual ingredients.

BOTTOM LINE: Sameer Thahir's Kali may not be as good as his debut, but the story that he tells using his talented actors is one not to be missed. Worth the DVD rent.

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

Very very good acting, very nice story, and awesome thrilling last 45 minutes. I connect with the thrill. Good direction. Its not a masala movie. People who loves masala entertain, action , kissing scene or half naked girl dancing on the floor. Sorry its not for u. I loved ending scene.. don't show your anger or fighting everywhere but if it ever comes to your family dont spare anyone..loved it

Another fantastic work from Dulquer Salman and Sai Pallavi. The movie starts showing the local goons taking over a hotel, which doesn't seem to have a connection with the movie in the first half. But the dots are connected so well that you get an explanation for every little detail at the end of the movie. The writers and the directors surely deserve praise for their work.

Both DQ and Sai Pallavi were amazing in their roles. DQ portrays different shades of anger so well, you can literally feel the anger inside you. On the contrary, the loving side of Sai Pallavi shows us the peaceful side of love and caring, even when everything goes wrong.

The last half was surely a thrilling one. I was literally feeling the fear of losing someone of my own. How will you feel when you realize that you might lose your dearest one tonight? A perfect blend of love and anger, this movie is worth watching a second time.

Everything was going great until the midnight hotel rest stop scene. Director, needs to be more down to earth and realistic & not irritate viewers with ridiculous story line!

Huh!!This is not a movie, its serial episode. No story line, nothing... Who the hell is this director and a real shame to malayalam movies... avoid such movies... I feel wasted 2 hrs of my life for such a nonsense movie... story starts with fight of husband and wife and ends there, no thrilling scenes, no mystery.

First how a person run away from house without taking even single penny. She don't want to mess up with stalker but she want to eat in their restaurant.

She cry cry cry till it irritates us.
