Reviving its old policy, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (Mns) led by Raj Thackeray has warned Bollywood producers against ‘laying the red carpet’ for Pakistani singer Atif Aslam on his purported “comeback” plans to croon for a Hindi film.
Mns Cinema Wing President Ameya Khopkar said that those who are gearing up to bring Aslam here based on a court verdict “need to be shown their place”.
“Pakistani artistes will not be tolerated here. Never. It is unfortunate that we need to repeat ourselves, yet let me make it clear once again,” Khopkar, who had earlier objected to the release of a Pakistan film titled ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ in December 2022, said here on Monday.
He also targeted popular singer Arijit Singh, who is reportedly standing in support of Aslam.

When the going gets tough, Bollywood thinks big. Reeling under the twin effect of the pandemic and Ott influx, which have dented business, Bollywood is pulling all stops with mega-budget announcements, to woo fans back to the halls. Among emerging trends is the superhero movie.
The genre is not exactly new -- Hrithik Roshan did star in the "Krrish" films, after all. But at no point in time has the Hindi film industry got into making so many superhero flicks at the same time as now. Trade analysts see it as a good trend, especially in these times when theatres are trying to pull the audience back amid the pandemic.
Hollywood, of course, is a big influence, as everything else about Bollywood. Global blockbusters as "The Dark Knight" series", the "Avengers" films, "Black Panther", "Wonder Woman", "Captain America: Civil War", and "Justice League" among others set the cash registers ringing in India,...

Bollywood hasn’t had a very good run when it comes to superhero movies. While the “Krrish” trilogy and “Ra.One” were commercially successful chiefly because of their star power, they were generally disliked by viewers and critics alike and films like “Alag”, “Drona” or “A Flying Jatt” barely registered with the audience. Director Vikramaditya Motwane, whose films are usually known to be gritty and realistic, is surprisingly the latest to try and bring us a superhero film unlike any we’ve seen so far.

The Sidharth Malhotra-Katrina Kaif starrer Baar Baar Dekho has been granted a 'UA' certificate by the Censor Board Of Film Certification (Cbfc). But only after a shot of a brassiere was removed from the film. Years ago in 1995 there was a bra shot featuring Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. And Baar Baar Dekho is directed by a woman. So the chances of lingerie being used to titillate the audience are nil." Apparently the censor board refused to certify the film until the "offensive" shot was removed. Another cut that the Cbfc demanded was to do with a naughty reference to 'Savita Bhabhi' the comic book porn character whose sexual exploits are devoured on the internet by millions of her fans. The recently released Tiger Shroff starrer A Flying has impressed children and how! Theatres saw a great turnout of kids with their parents in tow. The beaming smiles on the faces of these young ones could be seen by all!
“The kind of hype that the film had started to generate, especially during the last few days, pretty much warranted that it arrived a day before Friday itself. Moreover, its release on a festival like Janamashtmi was apt as well. Other than the religious significance that it carries, it was also the good time to target kids. Most of the schools were off on Thursday which means the day was just apt for this Remo D’Souza directed film to begin making an early impression,” says an industry insider.
The plan has worked for these tiny tots as they have found Tiger Shroff extremely adorable in his getup of a desi yet quirky superhero.

In his last couple of movies, Remo D’Souza worked with some of the best dancing talent that the country has produced. Right from Prabhudheva and Varun Dhawan to Lauren Gottlieb and Shraddha Kapoor to Salman Yusuff Khan and Dharmesh Yelande, each one of them has been superlative in Abcd – Any Body Can Dance and the film’s sequel.
Now he is taking an altogether different route with A Flying Jatt which is finding a course of its own.
“Of course, dance remains an integral element of the film, considering the expectations that one has from choreographer turned director. Moreover, with Tiger Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez in there, one indeed expects them to ‘shake’ their ‘booty’ on the ‘beat’,” says an insider, “However, there is a lot more than just that. In a rare show of trust and confidence Pahlaj Nihalani the chairperson of the Censor Board says Tiger Shroff's new super-hero film A Flying Jatt has the potential to be a cult film.
"It is not a copy of the Hollywood super-hero films. The problem with Bollywood super-hero films is, they try to be like their Hollywood counterparts. The desi super-heroes try to be like Batman, Superman and Captain America. Why would our audience pay Rs 350 to see a copycat version of Bollywood super-heroes", says Nihalani, strongly endorsing A Flying Jatt's strong originality and religious undertone and approving of the film as a prime example of the Prime Minister's Make In India campaign.
Says Nihalani, "A Flying Jatt is a true Indian film. Iss film ka dil hai Hindustani. Tiger Shroff plays a true Sikh. A bhakt of Vahe Guru. This is the first Indian super-hero film with...

Though director Remo D'Souza denies it, the fact of the matter is that he has been asked to remove certain religious emblems from his super-hero film A Flying Jatt. Remo's team has now taken the film back to post-production where the offending emblems are being digitally removed. Says a source close to the project, "Though the censor board has cleared the film with no cuts, the makers of A Flying Jatt don't want to take any chance, as there have been objections from Sikh and Jatt cultural and religious organizations regarding certain shots. Better safe than sorry." Prior to this, Sajid Nadiadwala had a knife dangling on Jacqueline Fernandez's hip digitally removed in a dance item in Dishoom when it was alleged by some Sikh organizations that the knife was disrespectful to their religion as it resembled a holy kirpan."...

The Cbfc has received a long list of objections from Sikh and Jatt organizations to the way Tiger Shroff has been presented in A Flying Jatt, the super-hero film that sees Tiger flying in a turban. According to sources from the Central Board Of Film Certification, there have been at least 35-40 objections from various religious and cultural organizations to the way Tiger, playing a Jatt super-hero was presented in the film. Says a source from the Cbfc, "Ever since the first trailer came out there have been objections from the Jatt and Sikh communities about the clothes, accessories and conduct. We've to take all of the complaints into consideration while certifying the film." Apparently certain scenes including the ones showing Tiger flying in a turban would have to be asked to be deleted by the censor board.
